  1. Oh ho, what's this - is karter the swearword monitor now?
  2. Do you know what *Bob*, I thought that very thing after I hit send. But then I thought fuck it. edited because I keep giving *Bob* a little b
  3. You don't agree that not hitting women has nothing to do with being a "grown up" and everything to do with being a right-minded person?
  4. Yes Keef, quite right.
  5. Yes. And I'm hungry.
  6. Right, anyone who isn't a member of the emergency services or a teacher can fuck off. You're a fucking parasite, leaching off decent people. So just fuck off the lot of you. Estate agents? Scum. Bankers? Scum. Shopkeepers? Capitalist scum? Bus drivers? Destroying the environment scum. The sooner we all realise that our existence on this planet is completely fleeting and largely futile and the best we can hope is that we didn't make it any worse by mere dint of our presence, the sooner we can all get on with not being so c*ntish and judgmental. However, to chime with *bob*'s point, I have noticed that advertising creatives always manage to come up with a sunny idea when it's pissing down outside, necessitating a month-long shoot somewhere in the southern hemisphere. Nice work if you can get it. And DC, yeah, you know it. But do you know what I'd say to Bill Hicks, who was incidentally, funny as hell but not the demi-god he's made out to be? What about people who are marketing charities trying to cure motherf*cking cancer you fucking righteous son of a bitch. And you're happy to smoke the cigarettes of people who are peddling cancer to third world countries. And I bet you drink baby milk and eat kitkats, so take your "people in marketing kill yourselves" and shove it up your arse. And then do you know what I'd do? Probably swear a bit more. Feels good.
  7. Ridgley - hitting women has nothing whatsoever to do with being grown up or otherwise. Don't conflate the arguments. Everyone's entitled to be Peter Pan should they so choose. Everyone is not entitled to cause harm to another person, in whatever form.
  8. Oh for pity's sake, grow up.
  9. Ridgley Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I think MP too old for the wild man of Hollywood > Act But you're only as old as the woman you feel. I don't subscribe to the notion that you should stop being "wild" (read "a twat on drugs") just because you reach a certain age. Plenty of us are twats at times without the drugs and more power to our arthritic elbows, and more power to theirs. And frankly, without the twats, just think of all the Closer / Heat / Grazia / OK Hot Stars / When Bad Things Happen to Famous People journalists that would be looking for a job. We just can't afford to have that many more people on JSA.
  10. Yeah MP, I too would enjoy his refusal to be a role model, and if he really made those comments above then he's a drug addled genius. But the wife-beating thing is what makes him a cunt in my book. A lesser son of greater sires. His dad's awesome, and was just about the hottest thing I've ever seen in Badlands. I'm cheering for the clean-living (well, relatively I guess) brother and father Estevez combo in whatever their film's called.

Dagnammit, I just traded my concrete pit for a septic tank.
  12. Sometimes I think that if he didn't live several thousand miles away, was already married, and was at times an incredibly pompous arse, I'd marry Huguenot. But basically, what he said. Minkturtle, there's a naivete to your post that I think belies your age. Violence? I believe you to be a lover of animals, so I would say to you, look at Chimpanzees, our closest animal relative. Violent tribal rapist bastards. Cute as hell, but inherently bastards. I think you blithely disregard some fundamentals of human nature. Why is politics in the news? Because it's the tax on your bicycle, our response to the revolution in Libya, waiting lists in hospitals, army size, class size, government size. And your politics is not your neighbour's politics, so you need to know who's saying what so you can know who you want in power. One world policy - you mean, with China? with Russia? with Iran? Who's going to make them join us? Because I take it, it will be that way round, and we're not going to accept a fundamentally different, less free, way of life by joining them? Lower class sizes - I'll come back to this - read something this week with a class size of 60 I think it was, that said performance was better. More thoughts, more thoughts, more thoughts, but no time.

In case it's a zombie werewolf?

Yah, but, you, like, changed your name. Therefore you, like, not good. Right? Or is it just other people who shouldn't change their name? Not picking a fight, just not quite understanding. Actually, perhaps your reasons for changing your user name weren't flippant and I have no idea about that. But quite a few people have done it without comment(one in particular I think did it because he still owes me two burgers), and it seems that it's ok for some people but not for all?

Damn, so my pocket chainsaw..? Arse, I'm doomed.
  16. The Big Society, as a concept, is a great idea, wrapped in a terrible name - the 'big' doesn't accurately reflect the idea of millions of individuals getting involved in things that matter to them. East Dulwich is actually already an incredible microcosm of what the Big Society aims to be (something for which this very forum is owed no small thanks): a brilliant sense of community, people getting involved, whether it's through SNUB, forumites lining up to clear neighbours' paths or run a people's supermarket, playing football in the park, Give n Take, auctions for charity. I actually feel very proud to be part of a community that's as engaged and connected as ours is. The Big Society concept was launched before the Tories were in power (although to be fair, it seemed inevitable at the time that they'd get in). I honestly don't believe it was intended to be a pre-emptive fig leaf for swingeing cuts, however, whether due to Conservative ideology or coincidence of timing with the budget deficit, that is what it has since become, in perception and perhaps in reality. The communication of what it is all about has been a complete abortion and I don't know whether it can recover, in spite of Cameron belatedly reaffirming his support in the last couple of weeks. But as a very basic idea, making it easier for individuals to do something about the things that matter to them, it has huge merit. Quite whether it can deliver remains to be seen.

What the frig is a midchlorian? Is it something from one of the prequels? If so Mockney and Huguenot, you have only yourselves to blame. And I thought you could kill zombies by chopping their heads off? For that reason, I never leave home without my pocket chainsaw. Incidentally, a friend of mine (American - explains a lot) has worked out a plan for what he will do when zombies take over the US. It involves that UFO on a stick that they have over there and a deathslide. I'm not entirely convinced it's practical.
  19. I've worked with lots of creative agencies who've had a dog. It's nice. But the difference to the scenario you suggest squeeker is that it's either been the office dog, or the boss's dog. There hasn't been a "bring your pets to work" policy, and rightly so. One dog: cute. Everyone bringing in their pet: a cacophonous menagerie. You can try to sell it to your potential bosses, but I wouldn't count on it.

Hi Admin, Wonder if you can clear something up for me. How political are politicians allowed to be on here? Sounds a daft question, but I feel that recently some lines have been crossed and it's making me really uncomfortable about abuse of a position of perceived authority. I know that around the election last year there was a whole debate about who could post what politically - what was the upshot? If I'm being unnecessarily prissy then I'll hush up. Thanks.

  24. If you can be arsed to go into town, Postcard Teas do really good quality tea in stunning packaging. I couldn't see Earl Grey on their website, but am about 99% certain I've seen both Earl and Lady Grey in their shop - worth giving them a ring.
  25. Yes Huguenot, fine. But once they've been found guilty, no? Not before they've even seen a policeman.
