Although you have just reminded me of their delectable meatstuffs and I feel a visit coming on.

Declining a wedding invitation - what's the etiquette?
RosieH replied to Alan Medic's topic in The Lounge
Alan Medic Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > > > No, this was a supplementary question. You are the > one with the bitchy type thought. Wowsers, now where did that come from? Just like you I was simply asking a question, but I'm a bitch and you're not? Nothing bitchy in my question. Who knows, maybe they're trying to get a rough idea of head count to see how much money they have to save up for the big day. But if you're wondering about the 8 month deadline, asking a forum full of strangers isn't going to give you the answer; having a chat with your brother might. -
Declining a wedding invitation - what's the etiquette?

Alan Medic Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- Any thoughts on being given a deadline > 8 months prior to the event? Your concern is more about their etiquette than yours you mean? Their wedding, their rules... As for your RSVP, I agree with PGC but as it's c/o your brother, I think it's also worth giving him a ring to explain your reasons why. He can pass that on to his son, who I'm sure will understand perfectly. -

And funny looking trousers that tie at the side.

Funny forumites you have yet to meet but think you should...

SMG ain't funny. (well unless you count funny lookin') ;-) Edited for reasons of clarification to note that Mr SMG is both hilarious and handsome -
Just opened to quite the hype and haven't been yet so no idea if it's any good, but Jose Pizarro (former Brindisa guy) on Bermondsey Street sounds fabulous. The razor clams in particular are exciting me. It looks a good place to stop in on a Bermondsey pub crawl.

The Bill Bailey show caused considerable consternation by making me laugh to the point of not being able to catch my breath for quite some time. Possibly fuelled by quantities of cider and sunstroke - an excellent excellent day out.

Mobile Traffic Enforcement - They Have to Go !
RosieH replied to Mr.Edwards's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I pass the spot on the Rye where the enforcement car parks up every day. It's NOT hiding behind a bush - it's a designated spot for the car (when it's not there, you can see the white lines marked out on the ground). If the bushes are a little overgrown at the moment, that's clearly not the warden's fault, no? Earlier in the year, when the trees were bare, the car was still parked there - was it still 'camouflaged' then? Does anyone perhaps think that traffic wardens might be more open to using their discretion where a car is 1cm over the line (rather than people taking an extra 5 minutes in a parking bay limited to 30 minutes) if they weren't subject to daily abuse? Frankly, if the people I had to deal with day in day out constantly called me a cunt, I too would be inclined to punish them for every infraction. -
Help to decide about the name for my Beauty room!
RosieH replied to little-berries's topic in The Lounge
Are you French, or will you be using French brands? If not, the suggested name seems a little, perhaps, de trop (and 'le ciel' means sky as well as heaven, so the name might be a little confusing). Don't mean to be all black hat about it - I'm all for lovely salons - but I'm not getting a sense of natural, organic and pure from it. Will think on. -

Are you both kidding? DM wouldn't be seen dead in Zara. -
I used to think that while the Kaiser Chiefs were predicting a riot, they actually had a really bad case of Angry Tourettes. They were very shouty, so it seemed apposite. And what's that Beautiful South song about Rotterdam and some other places? I understood all the men to be gargoyles, dipthonging Irish stout. I thought this meant they pronounced every letter in the word Guinness. Seems not. I'm getting me some Otex.

Ah Hibbs, on that one, the H-E seems to be keeping schtum, or as Nettie would have it: I have another question: Dear all seeing Hand-Eye, will I ever have dinner with people who can navigate a cheese board and don't cut the cheese so as to nab all the best bits for themselves?
-
Dear Nettie's all-seeing Hand-Eye, Last year I met a handsome fella who promised me the best burgers known to humankind. He reneged and I was devastated. After drying my tears and taking on some much-needed fluids, I now find it difficult to trust any man, which makes my role as human lie-detector for the local working men's club particularly tricky to navigate. Can you tell me when, oh when, I'll ever be able to believe the words of our nation's menfolk again? Thanks Rosie.

I think he looks like Gareth from The Office, tanned and bewigged.

Actually, I was rather impressed with Gwynnie's pronunciation of 'tw@t' in Sliding Doors.

Even the same woman can be inconsistent based on where she is in her cycle. Get her on a dating website and tell her to go for an atheist if she wants a good time!

Huguenot Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > :)) Yeah dufus. But you should know by now that I don't do the smilie punctuation face (or indeed any punctuation face, unless under the influence of anti-rage medication) - I too am just having a bit of fun. And it is really cool. However, we're in the Lounge, where deviation is the norm.

Not while Ben Goldacre's on the loose... Stop picking on me - it is 1,000 - but yes, for a spurious consumer story in the Mail it's all bullshit. It's 1,000 self-selectors, so completely unrepresentative and therefore meaningless. So people, don't believe today's story that 75% of women think their man's cheated on them when he buys flowers!

No, I don't disagree with you, I was just pretty sure it wasn't only EDFers was all. Although you should know that for a crappy PR release, we go for a sample size of at least 1,000! We're nothing if not robust you know.

Hugey, we might all be morons, but please help me, what is the appropriate reaction to a physics lesson? Are you reading a physics book at the moment and reporting back the exciting stuff you find? I gave up physics after GCSE because my teacher (with a glass eye and turned up collars on her denim jacket) kept telling me she was just like me. But science is cool and I applaud your attempt to engender excitement in us philistines. For myself I'm particularly excited about the discovery of Egyptian pyramids by satellite imagery - but, but but but, what would be the non-moronic response to your puppyish enthusiasm for spectroscopy?

My imagination or wasn't one of the first questions "where did you get the link to the survey?" with several options, suggesting it's potentially an altogether more diverse group than just forumites?

But I wanna be a Sales Dog. steve - what is it about these sessions that make them worth ?210 / year? I can watch DVDs and play board games in the comfort of my own home for free, so I'm intrigued as to what you think the additional value is. And a mere observation, but if you're offering to teach people financial literacy, you might want to check the grammatical literacy on your post and on the website. I'm not being a grammar snob, but marketing that is littered with grammatical mistakes lacks any credibility, and smacks of something more cultish.
