Common sense seems to have prevailed for a change.

Most of the pavements abutting are impassable during working hours. If you are going to do something worthwhile do it, this has been the problem for a very long time, Dont do this or that because it will upset . Opportunity missed. If you factor in the Holly Grove Park you could work wonders.

And judging by the > frequent stink of piss, some toilet facilities > would also be welcome. And you dont consider the rear of the station scruffy, unpleasant and dirty. This whole exercise will result in a mish mash without any defined long term plan for the future. Still those campaigning will no doubt have moved on to the next hotspot or moved to the next family home with the kids.
  4. What does happen to those caught with knives?
  5. At least when they demolish all those ugly concrete buildings you will be able to see your attacker coming across the open courtyard
  6. I did not vote for labour, however I would expect to be consulted if such changes are made. Unfortunately most of Southwark residents have a living to make and many changes are raised by the few who have the ear of Cllrs with similar views and the time to push their personnel agendas. It has always been the same. To get most of these through all you need is a yellow note on an out off the way lamp post or a notice in a local paper nobody reads.

They could incorporate a Lidl at the new school on the old Dulwich Hospital Site. Underground parking, Mothers could drop and shop.

That's > your job MRS Mab. Perhaps he asked the Cllr because he was aware that he might not get any answer from the Council or he might get a holding response to allow them to investigate which means. no chance. When a Cllr puts in a Cllrs Enquiry the council logs it and most managers will respond immediately or face questioning why not. Hence get Cllr or MP to write
  9. Your right. Will leave my wicked ways with you to worry about and be off to give myself a good thrashing with a wet lettuce leave. As regards to Holland I have been married to a Dutch National for the last 45 years and know the country very well. Dutch cities, towns and villages have always been people friendly. They have just improved what was always there over a long period of time, as you point out, the 70's. Not this instant let's save the world in our tea break. Again Holland is not London

Holland and Denmark are completely different animals to London. Their infrastructure is different and most cities have a cycle system that has developed over decades going back to the war when a lot was rebuilt. It just shows you live in a dream world.
  11. Or their free supply of refreshments paid for bu us
  12. Councils want to cock up traffic flows so they can bring in more and more control. It also does not help that young and thrusting graduates with throbbing red felt pens need to make their mark for saving the planet and introduce the theory that they have learnt from books. Why did we never have this mass balls up before?
  13. This response I had might answer your question Further to your subsequent question below, my response is as follows: The council does not receive the income from traffic speed cameras; we understand that the income from them goes to Transport for London/Metropolitan police and then on to HM Treasury. Yours sincerely, John Williamson Business Services Manager So why did TFL go along with lowering the speed limit? If they had said no that would have been it. Again just for the money
  14. Did anything come out of this meeting that we should worry about for the future regarding the clearway and one way, roundabouts etc? Unable to get there would appreciate any update
  15. I do hope that the remark made to RCH is recorded in the minutes as an accurate report of what went on and who said what. As is normal in minute taking.
  16. Why are things in a mess because the vast majority of residents have a living to earn and do not have the time to monitor Southwark. So the vocal minority with help, from pet Cllrs push through what they want. Fact but true
  17. To use a Cllr Barber approach what do the statistics show for accidents say over the last 10 years. If you look at the traffic approach and road markings from Grove Hill Road something is afoot after all the road works. You are right in saying people today are much more protective than is necessary
  18. The whole thing is starting to confuse me, tbh. Why are they talking about radical changes at Champion Hill and perhaps Rosendale Road if the aim is only to cater for "nervous adults"? That can't possibly take enough traffic off the roads to justify those changes. It feels like they can't decide whether they've got the huevos to actually go through with it or not. Do it properly, or not at all. Because it works well and has done for the last 68 years that I have lived on and around Champion hill. It it works well so change it. Young people with a red felt pen and a map in an office and no experience. Madness.
  19. Saw a man with a clip board and a worker with one foot on his shovel this morning. Not much else
  20. Is that the one opposite Harris Academy that today looks like it has been taken over by squatters?

Forget S G Smith which is a different matter. Do you think it should be shut down for the benefit of a a few. Ignore Cllr barber. Who will do a LibDem U turn if it benefits him

Don't worry. The word is Cllr Barber has collected his red undergarment from the dry cleaners and will be swooping out of the clouds to save the area that is MG and lap up the adoration I for one cannot wait.
