I was able to dig out the emailed letter which I got on 8th Dec 14. Called one or two days before that. If they've changed their policy since I'll obviously be delighted.

Oh and by the way James, I did try and report the crime to the Police by phone or online. They told me the only way to report car-related crime is in person at a police station. The last time I tried that it took half a day queueing. I'm as civically minded as the next guy, but I'm not going to that kind of trouble for such minimal benefit. I made an official complaint about their reporting procedures and I got a long and sternly-worded letter in reply telling me I was required by law to go to the police station. I replied stating simply that I would not. To which I got an even longer letter phrased in lecturing terms from Met Command & Control. I still refuse. Get the police to join the 21st century and allow things like this to be reported online and I'll happily comply. I've already lost time, 2 weeks' use of my car, 2 years' no claims, they want a half day's lost wages as well? No.

Yep mine too. Twice. Depending on your paintwork, you may have no choice but to strip down every panel. It's such a mindless crime and can cost a thousand or more to fix. Arseholes. I was 'fortunate' in that someone else then crashed into the same part of the car while it was parked and I had it all sorted as one claim. Try http://www.chipsaway.co.uk for a quote if you're not going the insurance route.

Roadworks in Lordship Lane at end of North Cross Road
worldwiser replied to Sue's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I've lost track of the number of shoddy jobs I've seen Conway involved with. If you email the council, no-one replies. It's almost as if by not replying they believe they can retain total deniability. Do Conway have a lengthy iron-clad contract or something which makes it nearly impossible to fire them? FOI request moving along, should have response by end of month. -

How utterly boring. I think we're so lucky to have the variety in ED that is evaporating before our eyes almost everywhere else. Don't chains even realise on some level that being omnipresent is just so damned boring. -

Abe_froeman: No. FOI submitted. Will keep those interested (or I guess even those not) updated. -

Now it's possible to see the minimal extent of these works, I echo the sentiments of others that this seems to have been an utterly pointless exercise in causing inconvenience. Surely it could have been possible to enter into some kind of partnership with the various landlords and do a full width job on the pavements? Now what we're left with is both ridiculous and embarrassing. The division between the brand new paving and the cracked existing sections is now more apparent than ever and absolutely no additional benefit, whether aesthetic or utilitarian has been gained. We should all be livid with how this has turned out. I'm submitting a FOI for the cost of this. -
The manner of introducing the 20mph limit has been very poorly thought through. Obeying it means drivers will go to suicidal lengths to get around you or aggressively tailgate. Not obeying it means risking a ticket or far worse. Why should I be put in this position for merely obeying the law (and far more importantly not putting children and other pedestrians at risk.) If we're going to have 20 limits there needs to be proper enforcement because experience shows me almost no-one takes it seriously. And that includes bus drivers.

Apologies if this has been addressed before, but I can't find reference. On the Patient Access website, from my experience, there appear to be 7 types of appointment listed: General Appointments are never available at any time Extended Hours Appointments are seemingly after 6.30pm, 10 or more days ahead. Ok. But Late Night Appointments are also after 6.30, just like Extended Hours, so what's the difference? Routine Appointments are all throughout the day, 10 or more days ahead. 'To Be Booked by Duty Doctor' Appointments seem (on the contrary) to be bookable by the public 'On the Day' Appointments are only available in exactly two weeks' time 'Unplanned Admission' Appointments can indeed be planned for 7 or 14 days ahead This is the most confusing array of appointment types! Can anyone shed light on exactly how each category works?

Camberwell Bakerloo extension looking unilkely

What a shocker. All their previous pronouncements on this made it quite clear which option was their preferred one. Let's leave tens of thousands of existing residents in tubeless, congested isolation and spend eye-watering amounts on infrastructure for neighbourhoods which don't even exist yet. Definitely the correct priority. This was Walworth Road's one hope for relief which will now never come. -

She knocked on ours around 7.45 and I think she had an ID although I didn't check it. I was in the middle of settling our little one but she'd knocked pretty insistently twice so I went down to speak to her with storybook in hand. Probably legit but the wrong time of day to be intruding in my view. -
To a certain extent some of this is an adult's perspective on a child's world and children don't really care what it looks like. If it's fun it's fun. Not saying replicating Brockwell Park in PR wouldn't be absolutely fabulous, but our little one loves Goose Green. Our main objection would be the much older kids invading the climbing frames and spoiling the environment for everyone else: if they would congregate elsewhere it would be far more pleasant for the intended age group. An interim approach might be to try and do something about that while we wait 20 years for the dream playground to materialise.

Speaking of what the council will or will not collect, I asked them to collect a clean acrylic bathtub last year. They told me that 'for hygiene reasons' they would not take it. So they'll collect an enormous pile of used nappies along with all manner of other foulness on a fortnightly basis but not a bathtub? The council yet again showing they possess not an ounce of logic. -

I'm unclear on something: the consultation results show that residents overwhelmingly rejected the proposals and yet they're going ahead anyway? Why do they bother with a consultation then?? -
I guess now I've mentioned this the owner will tell them to ward off anyone following!

They always seemed friendly up to now. Even gave me a full tour at one point (they were bored waiting for concrete to dry)

Fabulous ice fire is indeed very good, we tried it today. Easily on a par with O. But having no signage and not obviously being an ice cream shop to attract passing traffic is senseless. I sat outside this afternoon for an hour and not a single other customer came in during that time. I hope they know what they're doing because I'd hate them to go out of business due to sheer pretentiousness! -
Was the traffic normal this morning to Elephant?

Next year I'm just going to build a home office in the garden. Just have to accept that no-one is showing any sign of wanting to improve transport round here. Half an hour to E&C is when things are good! Wasting good people's lives. -

About 7 12 buses all showed up in a row. No sign of any 176s or 40s. Total shambles. -

James, the main objection is surely over the opening hours and, more particularly, the delivery hours proposed. I don't understand why the very reasonable proposal of requiring them to park delivery vehicles on LL (rather than causing a nuisance to the residents of the adjoining street) was never imposed on them. The issue of the size of the redevelopment pales in comparison to the certain and daily intrusion on people's lives. And I don't live anywhere near there!
