  1. Too many kids called Oliver. That's the start of it, look for the signs and sell up! Round my way all the kids are called Paige. Even the boys. No gentrification here!
  2. Name and shame if they become heavy! They are playing an underhand game appointing debt collectors. Stop to their level!

Sad to hear that as I am going to start it tonight!
  4. Indeed, a new thread is needed. How middle class and White is East Dulwich now compared to in 1994 when ratty moved there?

Surely there is no doubt that Martin has offed Jens? Saga admitted to Martin that she committed a crime and stitched up her mother. There must be some trade off in this? Will they prove Martin did it without Saga's know how? Is this to come? They have a fooking eco terrorist to catch FFS! Cannot wait until Series 3. Sadly I reckon it will be about 2 years?
  6. I would say it's not incredibly diverse. Tower Hamlets is incredibly diverse I would say, East Dulwich, for central london (zone 2) is far from it imo! Lived there for 20 years so must have some idea surely? Watched it get less and less diverse year on year!
  7. EDLove Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > > Ratty - why? For a number of reasons really. Firstly, when I lived in East Dulwich someone was shot on my road and at the same time a young lad was stabbed to death on a bus in front of a bus load of passengers. Did not feel very safe then. Most of my neighbours were burgled, my wife was flashed at outside our front door, a friend of mine was mugged leaving our house one evening about 20 yards from the door. All on Abbotswood Rd. I got chased and threatened with stabbing by a gang of young lads just for wearing a Stussy T Shirt. Lordship Lane on a Saturday night is full of a-holes But also, because when I hear it from a lot of people in ED I sometimes wonder whether they really mean it feels a lot more white middle class. Just me being honest.
  8. I love the phrase "other places felt less safe".

    Just finished it tonight. Amazing!
  10. I thought west dulwich was Tulse Hill
  11. Wouldn't that just create lots of homeless people?
  12. Dulwich Estate is the owner. I believe the rent is sky high, hence closure since the fire.
  13. Of course it's my life that has moved on quids. I outgrew what ED could offer me, and found myself living in an overpriced area that I never went out in. Moved for the good of the family for better schooling and a bigger house for the kids to play in. For me, the best time in ED was pre kids when I could play pool in the Foresters or go to ED Comedy in the Mag to watch Boothby Graffoe! Happy times!
  14. What can the council do?
  15. Moved here in 94. Didn't much like it then. Moved back in 2002. It got better and better until about 2011 in my humble opinion. Used to not understand why everyone didn't live in SE22. For me it lost its appeal a couple of years ago when it became apparent that I no longer fitted in.
  16. Lots of anger from ????s there.
  17. It can be reconnected you know!
  18. I miss it! Genuinely do now that I have moved away!
  19. Left in 1998 after 4 years, came back in 2002 and left last April (26th) after 12 years. Lurk and titter probably every other day. ED has changed too much for me to miss it too much, but I wish there was a Goose Green play park near me! There are quite a few ex-ED where I live now strangely! Loz, I had no idea you had left!!

  23. Kairos is a very deserving and hardworking organisation! Would really second this recommendation! Look Ahead also run lots of services in Southwark!
  24. Street count in a neighboring london borough 3 weeks ago was 16 rough sleepers. I dont have the figure for Southwark but I imagine it would be higher. Sadly I think we will see these figures going up and up with the further bite of the bedroom tax and universal credit. Some landlords reportedly refusing to accomodate those on universal credit as it is too much of a financial risk to them. A grim by product of the recession this. And with funding slashed for the agencies that work with homeless people, then we can expect some further difficulties over the next few years. We have lived in the relative comfort of safety net housing pretty much guaranteed since 2000. It is no longer there for many.
  25. Can I just say that for all these organisations (St Mungo's and NSNO) someone would need to be referred. Also, from a PM conversation last night it may be that this chap is not homeless as such, but looking for support and events for the homeless at Christmas. (Homelessness is about more than having a home of course, and is about resettlement into secure and independent accommodation, rebuilding social networks and ones life). Having said that, NSNO and Mungo's (my employers for 8 happy years) would be sure to have a list of support and activity available to "homeless" people over the festive period. (Fairly sure the Big Issue would have too however). Best of luck!
