Look out for new (traffic) camera car (in East Dulwich)

They also have to clearly display a camera sign. If they catch you and there is no camera warning where you are parked, then it's not enforceable. Or so I have been led to believe. -

Youths selling overpriced dishcloths door-to-door

I never answer the door unless I'm expecting someone. Simple as that. -
Must be the beginnings of the polar shift.

The works are not the problem, it's the phasing of the temporary lights! It's not that hard to sort out... (and yes skidmarks, I used to work for Siemens Environmental Systems in Poole where they design/make most of the traffic lights in the country. Admittedly this didn't include temporary lights though!)

Where's the fun in being normal?

Burst water main in Oakhurst Grove
AcedOut replied to Flapjack's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I reported this to them 2 weeks ago - it's not a major leak. I had no water at around 2-5am this morning though. -
eater81 - Even if a dog sniffs you and detects something, I don't think the police have rights to search you or ask you to empty your pockets. I might be wrong on this though - but I think you CAN refuse for a dog to sniff you - since they would need reasonable grounds for suspicion to use one on you in the first place. It's rather invasive of them to use a narrow alleyway to do this though. Most of the time you can actually say "no" to the police, but most people don't know their rights. Just like the police have no right to enter your premises without a search warrant. Unfortunately, new terrorism bills are stripping us of these freedoms though.

skidmarks - that's not true! They can of course be phased more efficiently. Admittedly now, North and South traffic flow will not be able to move at the same time now (since only one lane is available now), although I don't understand why East and West cannot (as was allowed with the permanent set). Temporary lights can come with sensors to allow for dynamic phasing - they just haven't bothered.

The police gave me a free SmartWater kit when I requested one a year or so ago. I live around The Gardens area.

It was Come Dine With Me. And the food was amazing :)

I've been fully in control of my car on all roads around ED. I just takes a different driving technique. However, I've been avoiding use of the Vespa until recently, as it's a completely different ball game with 2 wheels! I actually find it great fun when the roads are a little slippy, but it obviously requires greater awareness. It's a good way to increase your skills and understand about how your car handles.

So, correction - 2x single on Oyster ARE indeed better value than a return ticket, so it's thumbs up from me afterall :)
-
Well spotted, my bad. Yes, I agree.
-
Not necessarily. What do you need it for?
-
Not according to the TfL Oyster website: http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tfl/tickets/faresandtickets/farefinder/current/Default.aspx Enter Peckham Rye to London Bridge. The single fares displayed are ?3.20 and ?2.80.
-
So unless you're only going to use a single or you normally would travel to the cap price of a travel card on one day, the whole this is a complete con! And now people simply buying the odd return ticket are paying more. Good value? Me thinks not. It just seems to have made tickets more expensive in return for lessening queues which will also save TfL in staffing costs.
-
A single to zone 1 is ?3.20 peak, ?2.80 off-peak. A return is only ?4.30, so for 2x peak and off-peak singles you'll pay ?2.20 and ?1.30 MORE respectively. I will stick to the Vespa I think. Much cheaper!!
