  1. I don't think that is correct, muffins. I believe all people getting a third jab get the same amount. (I asked the man giving the jab, third time.) Please let us know how you came to find out what you wrote. (I trust those who administer the jabs but I am curious all the same.)
  2. Spotted in Sexby Gardens two mornigns ago - female pheasant In wildlife garden this AM, Peckham Rye - moorhen flying pretty high up into a tree, perhaps for berries - about 20 feet up. Never seen that before.
  3. Thanks - I asked here because I got no reply from my emails, etc.
  4. The tree in the circular bench in Dulwich Village, near the post office, has once again been cut down. I have asked, via emails and Twitter, the Dulwich Society what has happened and what the plan for a replacement is but have had no answer a week on. Any idea as to who may be polite enough to respond? Thanks
  5. Seems like people in council accommodation don't like/haven't been fully told about/CBA to recycle their food waste. If only 14 percent are doing it, making up for 2% of compostable food waste total, then I agree it makes little sense for the council to extend it, unless they impose fines.
  6. A railway station needs a bus stop (or two) as near as possible to it to make it easier for people to use public transport and different modes thereof. Buses can hold up to 60+ people; Peckham Rye station is on at least 5 routes, so the amount of people being made to walk an unacceptably long way now is way more than cyclists using Rye Lane (I would estimate). The Lane could do with wider pavements, I agree, but letting business owners cover at least 1/3 of the space with their wares (as can be seen at the station) is a surefire way of decreasing that valuable space that is for public, not private use. Not that many people cycle, compared to bus and/or train users. Cyclists being diverted or encouraged to go down the back route would add a minute to their journey but buses being sent around the back adds many more minutes to passengers' journeys.
  7. Filing kettles with just the right amount of water should be a norm, as should turning off lights when not in use and turning down the thermostat on the boiler, the rads and the wall. Full length curtains and floorboard gap fillers also help, as well as an openness to the idea of donning an extra layer when it gets chilly. I now switch off the shower when I?m lathering which should also reduce my water bill.
  8. Which part of SE22 or otherwise, without being too specific?
  9. I completely agree that a better-than-we-have-now public transport option is needed to entice people from their cars. Cycling, walking, e-scootering (thought is is far from being an advert for them) all have their place but zippy mini-buses perhaps linking up with a light rail or guided bus system would be a good solution for this part of S London.
  10. Turn off lights, heat fewer rooms, buy less expensive food.
  11. So, to go back to the thread title, what will you all do? Put on an extra jumper? Eat more hot soup? Stop buying things you don't need but like to have? Cancel Christmas?
  12. In the past I have used Boots and Superdrug, usually early in the day, and have managed to be seen. I think it is poor that DMC have not been in touch at all, despite their usually being very prompt regarding flu jabs.
  13. Just go to the Day Lewis chemist's opposite - you'll likely get it done there and then.
  14. I have emailed the Royal Mail complaints department and suggest anyone else with a gripe also do the same. https://personal.help.royalmail.com/app/webforms/contact/c/310
  15. My delivery today was left on the porch - no attempt made to push the elastic-banded, three normal-sized items through the letterbox. Is this a thing? I couldn't see the postie to quiz him on this technique but I wish I had - it is surely wrong to do that, even against Royal Mail rules?
  16. I meant Ossito, whose comments were directly above my response.
  17. Why not address your concerns to them directly? Better than posting here where it is unlikely to effect any change for the better.
  18. All the best (and I won?t add any social/political downbeat attachment). Dulwich Library has a small ads board which may help you.
  19. I wasn't referring to my own neighbours who don't have a cycle shelter, but ones I have seen that are at least 4'6 high, probably a tad more and then a few more inches with the sedum roof. I am just curious as to why so much headroom is needed if a bike is nowhere near that tall!
  20. That side road is closed for a short time morning and afternoon on school days. It is policed by the school itself, I think. As for the crossing- is it open?
  21. I?ve replied and noted that the perforated kerbs and the plastic bollards are damaged and/or not replaced. Classic case of council installs something and then declines to take on responsibility for upkeep. (I have put bollards back in - takes five seconds yet the school, which campaigned against other measures, unsurprisingly doesn?t pitch it despite the fact the pavement widening and other measures, like DYL and zig-zags, often ignored by an entitled few, is precisely for the benefit of its pupils.)
  22. It is very odd that nobody saw or heard his. Perhaps someone did but company policy stops them from interfering? What a shitehawk the thief is.
  23. What constitutes "something horrible", though? I know that planning permission can be lengthy and cumbersome, and costs money, but a free-for-all is not something anyone really wants, I don't think. I still don't get why cycle shelters have to be so tall! If you have one built/installed in a way that blocks a neighbour's view and light, they would be a bit cheesed off, even if it did have a sedum roof!
  24. If I have a fixed price tariff with a big supplier, does the price cap rise mean my bill will increase before it ends?
  25. t is up to you how you respond. If you choose to read into my post that I want you to continue to feel fear, etc. etc. I have no control over that and respect your decision to respond with that (baseless) thought. Like I said, you don't win people over to a necessary cause (or even confirm the support they have already given) by chanting slogans and taking a condescending tone.
