  1. I was in Khan's today and, on my way to the chilli oil via the small packs of sesame seeds, passed the 'Honey' shelf. Alongside the Rowse honey (?2 a jar, if anyone's interested) are much larger jars of what, on first glance, looked like regular, everyday honey, with the added attraction of a huge slab of honeycomb inside, also priced around ?2. HOWEVER, ON CLOSER INSPECTION: Ingredients as listed: Honey (10%) Fructose Corn Syrup (30%) Honeycomb (60%) The jars aren't labelled 'Honey' as such, but they do feature a sinister-looking bee on the label and are of a script that my untrained eye couldn't decipher. I guess if you're a honey fan on the hunt for a cheap fix then it pays to read the ingredients.
  2. Anything with the headline 'X did Y and it was Z!' Mostly thanks to B*zzfeed and their ilk.

  4. Hello, My wife just lost her purse, maybe 20min ago, on whateley or crystal palace road (turned right out of Whateley), it's a small plastic coin purse with a cow on it and it says "cash cow"... If you find it please be kind enough to send me a message, Thanks!!

I've had plenty of bottled Jaipur before but had never tried draft until Wednesday at EDT. I've heard people say the same as you, Jeremy, about being better suited to keg and so I was pleasantly surprised at how good the cask is. Am still searching for it on keg, though having a one year old baby has made pub visits much rarer than they once were. Anyway, tonight I am drinking a bottle of Mariana Trench by Weird Beard Brew Co. It is delicious.
  6. *Bob*, are you suggesting that Louisa makes up stories in support of her rather tiresome agenda? Surely not!
  7. HMB, Seabags recommendation of the chimney starter is a good one. For fuel you could do worse than start off with Weber briquettes - they're clean, slow burning and last for ages. http://www.wowbbq.co.uk/products/weber-premium-briquettes-3kg--16015.html
  8. For ?6 a pop you could get a decent bottle from Majestic. You'd have to buy a minimum of 6 bottles, of course, but if one of them tasted 'fusty and funny' you'd be guaranteed a replacement.

Genuine LOL at that. Someone disagreeing about a bike shop is slagging you off? And pointing out that you're pretty much the most miserable, negative poster on here is slagging you off as well? Behave yourself, Dulwichfox.
  11. Wilson's bikes staff don't know their arses from their elbows. The one time I didn't have tools and a puncture kit, I got a flat outside Peckham Pulse. Took it to Wilson's for an emergency repair and it took them 3 attempts to replace with a tube that wasn't either ill-fitted and therefore burst, twice or had a valve that was too short for the rims on my bike. Hardly a shining example of a great local business. Back on topic - Brickhouse bread aint cheap but it is exceptionally good. I've not made my own bread for months since we've been buying it.

  13. If a dog bothers you or your child and there's a hint of savagery about the beast, a swift but firm boot/stick to the jaw should send it packing. At the very least it should shock the irresponsible owner to keep their pet under control. I am in no way advocating cruelty to animals (I was once vegetarian, for a time); Self-preservation is the aim.
  14. -5/10 once again. If this is Snorky, then you're really slipping.
  15. Good thread, Mick. We've been using Majestic of late and I can recommend the following, all around ?6-7 a bottle. Ondine Shiraz - Very light easy everyday drinking that also goes well with most foods. Beefsteak Club Malbec - great with steak as the name would suggest but drank this with a chicken and coconut curry and it worked well, so what do I know? Corolla, Nero D'avola - if you like your Chianti then you should like this. Improved after being open for 48hrs and had a lot of cherry on the finish (that's about all the tasting notes you'll get from me). I don't drink a lot of white but can wholeheartedly recommend Sainsburys TDF Gruner Veltliner at ?7.50 a bottle. If you want to splash out then pretty much anything from Californian winemakers Ridge will be delicious but they start at ?30+ so perhaps special occasions only (it is for me).

    I'm going for 'Ya Pasta!'
  17. ?3.80 seems about right and I suspect they won't undersell their trade customers by too much. I hadn't been in The Plough for a long time so was really surprised to be charged ?4.70 for a pint of Purity lager, served so cold that I cold barely taste it. I'm so used to drinking Laines Best in The Great Exhibition at ?3.50 that it came as a bit of a shock to pay just shy of a fiver for a pint.

Pertaining to this, a valuable piece of advice which I received slightly too late: 'Buy a tailored tuxedo at 21 years old and make sure you stay that size for the rest of your life.' Unrealistic?

Looks like you've already had a few too many cocktails.
  22. I think Mary's photo is still on the wall but I've not seen her for maybe 4 years. That said, my visits to the Castle are limited to 1 a month for a quick pint here and there. The last time I saw her she was selling raffle tickets. I purchased a few as did a friend. We won nothing.
