  2. It's not really an issue for anyone except evangelical vegetarians. If people go veggie for a while and then start eating meat again because they miss it then there's not much can be done about that, really. And to say you can have a bacon sandwich without eating a pig is just ridiculous.
  3. Walkabout? A godawful chain of venues. Can you quote your source please, Fox? It seems like an odd choice of location. But what do I know about opening theme bars?
  4. Hope it works out well, jim_the_chin. One thing to note: The junction of Clapham Common / Elspeth is an awkward 'ahead only' toward Battersea Rise / no right turn so I usually just dismount and use the pedestrian crossing which allow me to head right down Elspeth Road. You'll work it out immediately but thought it worth mentioning.
  5. Jim, where do you start from? I used to do East Dulwich / The Plough to West Brompton and tried the route via Camberwell/Oval/Vauxhall but found it too congested and even as an experienced & confident cyclist, I really didn't enjoy the route especially the section from Oval through Vuaxhall and along the embankment. My preferred route below, quickest time was about 35mins though mostly nudging 40mins: Dulwich Park - Herne Hill - Brixton Water Lane - Acre Lane - Clapham Common Northside - Elspeth Road - Latchmere Road - Battersea Bridge - Cheyne Walk and so on from there.
  6. Thanks EP, but I got mine yesterday! I think Sergey must have taken this thread to heart... Have only had a quick play around with Inbox on the iphone - it's pretty slick, though it resembles Windows XP in all it's bright, primary coloured glory.
  7. EP, your op reminded me that I requested an inbox invite from Google almost a month ago and have heard nothing since. I'm chasing up Sergey B as I type this...

I like my tattoos, even > the ones I was drunk for 😁 As far as I know, you'd still be left with visible scarring from the removal, unless technology has improved and now leaves 'no trace'? Otherwise, is it feasible to add to the original design or incorporate into something else and therefore ink over the mistake?
  9. So if you're 50 and (according to wikipedia) Sly Dunbar is 62 then...blimey!
  10. I've not yet seen it in pubs but Cesar Augustus is a smashing lager/IPA hybrid from Williams Brothers. Available from Sainsbo and Aldi, I believe.

  12. This is a pretty good first post. 7/10 and I'll take the bait...contact Zippos.
  13. It's Edinburgh, I believe, though looking at most maps I'd be inclined to say Cardiff. Something to do with maps being flat and not representing longitude & latitude correctly (please forgive my laymans terms). I love the rehashing of the article(s) that shows the 'true' size of countries and continents against what's represented on most maps. From The Economist on 'The true size of Africa' for starters http://www.economist.com/blogs/dailychart/2010/11/cartography
  14. Having to get out of bed to attend the passport office to get a correction made to my daughters passport. Incompetent cunts.
  15. KK, Bavaria is my default alcohol free beer for when I'm craving a cold lager and am not drinking, But there's a pod selection box available from alcoholfree.co.uk A friend and I split a case last year...there are some decent tasting brews in there, including dark and white beers from across Europe. Worth a go for around ?20 if I remember correctly.

  17. Their coffee is really quite good and the 2 guys and 1 girl (Marcus and his Gf or wife and another chap Yan; all Estonian, which may explain the mangled English)that own and run it are very friendly and genuinely into coffee. They also sell delicious homemade muffins, (which I ate a few of last summer before changing my regular route to work) It's very easy to lazily troll and denounce them as 'hipster lice' but perhaps save it until you've met them and tried what they're offering? What do you say, Snorky?

Sounds like a great way to spend a Saturday!
  20. SJ & Jeremy, I asked Cameron from Bossman about Thornbridge beers, they used to stock Jaipur but it didn't sell well enough to keep it as a regular line, though he did promise to get some in for me.
  21. Quilmes is probably one of their more pedestrian offerings. I can recommend trying any beer from one of the newish London breweries: Kernel, Brixton, Beavertown (owned by Robert Plant's son). Beavertown's Gamma ray IPA OR the Black Betty black IPA are particularly good. Otherwise, just try every bottle on offer until you find your favourites :)

  23. Great Exhibition has become a firm favourite of mine in the last 12 months. Child friendly during the day, but not of creche-like proportions, so great for lunch with the baby when I'm at home, excellent ales at reasonable prices (they currently have a selection of ?3 pints on cask, plus Laines as their regular ale), great food (if a little pricey for a pub), plus a varied selection of music nights. I'm yet to try the unlimited Bloody Mary/Mimosa Saturday brunch... The Gowlett is great for ales and pizza, plus an excellent place to spend a Friday once a month shuffling to house/disco without feeling like the oldest person in the room. And The Castle - yes, the only true boozer left in the hood. Great for me as it's literally my front garden and serves an excellent pint of Guinness. House of tippler for excellent cocktails and a great Sunday roast. Very rarely venture anywhere else.
