  1. I will look out for you :)
  2. Certainly seems that way :'(
  3. Poor chap :( I havent been approached by him myself so didnt realise the extent of it, only seen him when passing and not paying too much attention. He asked and was given money by my husband, the injury appeared fresh and the chap had said it happened in a pub (glass if I remember correctly)and subsequently he couldnt work and needed money.
  4. Is that the one with a really nasty scar round his neck / lower face? Begging for money is one think, coming to a persons door in the middle of the night to do it quite another!

  6. Fantastic ! Cake and alcohol, must pop in on Saturday :)-D
  7. Anyone tried a potato waffle with melted cheese sandwich? Highly recomended from my student days!
  8. Does it have a licence?:)-D
  9. I havent had anyone at the door bt was accosted in Camberwell when I lived there - a woman in tears wanting a pound for her electric meter so she could cook for her kids (whom she had left alone at home in the dark!!). Its sad that people use these ploys, in a genuine case most would help but its impossible to tell the genuine from the non genuine. That said I was accosted by a chap in Brighton who seemed very genuine so I gave him the money he asked for!
  10. All the talk on this forum of Estate Agents over valuing / creating a spike etc etc etc, what is the position when an Estate Agent undervalues, seemingly taking advantage of an elderly owner for a super quick sale ( more than likely to a mate!). Are they regulated at all to prevent this occurance?
  11. How strange! I would think that would exclude a lot of people!
  12. There's an interview process? Were you told why you were not acceted?
  13. The RSPCA need greater powers! They do a fantastic job but the law is too restrictive on the powers they have :'(
  14. Dont forgot to wrap yourself in cotton wool ;-)

Perhaps at the end of the day all the discarded papers are collected and put into a recycling bin :-)

leaving newspapers on busses is recycling! They always get picked up and read by another passenger :-)
  17. Whether you embrace the culture or not you will be one of many Londoners pushing up the house prices and making the area unaffordable for locals! Interesting that your view is that all incomers fall within the generalisations you state, wonder whether the Devon locals will be less discriminatory than yourself ;-)
  18. I went in on Saturday and very nice it is too.! Made a few purchases and benefited from the 10% off for forumites :-)
  19. I have seen at least 6 different ones in ED including Clarence who runs the Bishop :))
  20. Cant Thames Water cut the water off from the stop cock in the street? If there is one for this property alone it just means lifting the metal access hole and using the relevant tool to switch off.... course if the main stop cock services more than this house could be problematic! One extreme to another!
  21. I thought they were starting works next year..... is ED definitely 2 years further down the line? How difficult is it to fit a machine at the entrance / exit to each platform?
  22. isnt le chandelier the new place that is opening and currently has white stuff on its windows?
  23. Thanks for posting the response Clazza. Sounds as though there was a genuine reason on this occasion but it is unfortunately a common occurance. I think "Peak times" must be a very limited window, I believe when I have caught the 8.35am, the office has been closed ( may be wrong there so happy to be corrected). Its great they are going to install another ticket machine, would it not solve the problem to bring forward the installation of the Oyster readers to touch in / out, if pay as you go was accepted then the problem would be solved since these are widely available to buy/ top up locally.
  24. Was that the guy that was pushed off the train earlier this year and suffered quite serious head injuries? Worrying! I'm with Keef! Its not anti prams, its just a matter of expecting people to show some consideration! Nobody enjoys being crammed on the trains but its a necessary evil given that office hours dictate we all travel at the same time! If people were more courteous and considerate it would make travelling (albeit in cramped conditions) more pleasant!
