  1. When I was looking to buy in ED this house was on the market (18 months ago), it was on with a number of agents and was described as a wreck! It was for sale for ages..... presume someone has bought and renovated.
  2. grrrrrrrrr why do my posts keep arriving late (6)
  3. Cassius Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Just as a debating point - is there really a need > for anyone to own a dog in London? I think this all comes down to freedom and choice which we are all lucky enough to enjoy. Where the problems arise is inconsiderate behaviour whether that is from the unnecesary pollution of the "Chelea tractor" or the theatening "chav" dog. There is good and bad in every group, the argument shouldnt be about what it is or is not right to own but on the consideration that should be given to others.
  4. My last post seems to have suffered a cyber delay :'(
  5. Apparantly I can if I take ID and a statement...... My real difficulty is that I only keep enough money in my current account to cover bill payments and my spending money for the month, I transfer money from my Abbey esaver account to my current account at the end of each month to cover the following months expenditure. Here is where the problem lies........... because its an esaver account you have to make payments / transfer money online. You cannot do this from a branch or through telephone banking. This system works fine until you cant go online :'(
  6. is there any need for anyone to own a car in London? >:D
  7. cheese on toast type of dish and bottle of red wine for an extortionately mortgage your house to pay high price in a mountain refuge somewhere on the Vallee Blanche. I suppose the food and wine may have been particularly good because at the time I was certain it was to be my last meal;-)
  8. It wasnt the the therapist that stole the dog, it was her previous client...... The therapist thought it was wrong to take a dog from outside a pub too! She did show misguided sympathy to the customer concerned though (6)
  9. and the children ;-)
  10. Could well be the case...... think of Grey Friars Bobby!!!
  11. I have just been on the phone to Egg who were fab given my new found unable to pay my credit card status! They have changed my billing cycle / payment date so that I wont be late with my payments and have left full notes on the account and advised to call back if that date (15th May) cant be met A damn site better than my bank that's for sure ! Now just two weeks with no cash / access to money...........
  12. My thoughts exactly! Its Karma when your stolen dog is stolen I hope the poor dog is OK and has a good home now but as an aside I want to know what happend to the LV handbag ;-) I will ask next time I go >:D<

W@nkers who tie their dogs up outside a pub > and go in for a pint! These people need such a > kicking! reminds me of a story I heard the other week ! I went to have a facial and the therapist was late with a previous appointment, her reason, the girl was upset because she had lost her dog. I assumed the dog had died and was sympathetic. Later it transpired the dog had been taken from her garden, even worse I thought. It then came out that she had only had the dog 10 weeks, having found it outside a pub in a Louis Vuitton handbag?!?!?!?!?!? At least it wasnt tied up ;-)
  14. Oh.......... is that that really nice looking building on the left just before Catford Station on the Sth Circular?
  15. Ive been told 7 days for new pin, 2 weeks for new card and 10 days for internet banking log in etc! Abbey! I cant pay my credit card bill now (Egg) so will incur interest there too :-(
  16. liquorish...... although I didnt leave the card behind the bar and I am fairly certain my card wasnt out of my sight when I paid using chip and pin - my gut feeling is that it didnt happen there. The Abbey ATM and WHSmith seem unlikely too though! Looking further back (two weeks before it happened) there was a card payment to a country pub in Leamington, payments to Vodafone and Diamond insurance both made over the phone, and a card payment to Sadlers Pharmacy LL. I havent given that card as a tab for ages. I wonder what the average time period is from taking the details and using the cloned card....
  17. My debit card stopped working at cash points a couple of weeks ago, I went into the bank to withdraw some cash and told them the problem, they gave me the cash I wanted and allegedly checked my account and ordered a new card. No card arrived. Went into the bank a week later, new card hadnt even been ordered, account allegedly checked and new card ordered. New card arrived Tuesday, tried to use it yesterday, transaction not authorised....... went online today, seems that although my genuine transaction was declined, transactions in Montreal and Johannesburg on the same day were not!!! My card was cloned early April! Numerous ATM withdrawals have been made up to my daily cash withdrawal limit on numerous days since 2nd April. They are all in South Africa and Canada. I now have no access to my account / money (internet banking doesnt work when card cancelled) and have to wait a month to get the money back, even though the bank have told me its fraud (NSS) and I will get a full refund! hmmmm I used my card three times just before this happened, once in an Abbey ATM in Leather Lane, once in WHSmith in Leather Lane and once in a bar in ED. The international fraud team are investigating...... will let you know how long it takes to sort! Can anyone lend me a tenner ;-)
  18. Me ex did the Everest marathon a couple of years back, he researched altitude sickness etc before he left and it really is a matter of ascending a limited distance each day. That said he did still feel unwell at time as did most of the runners that were not local. In addition expect to lose a lot of weight and be really careful what you eat! He looked a right state when he returned and wasnt in a healthy state! Made the mistake of eating a salad in a lodge on the way back (they had camped every other night but this was a celebration) - it was a new lodge and clean but the water isnt and the salad had been washed in the waeter..... enough said! From what he said its a pretty harsh environment, he told me there was a Sherpa that suffered with altitude sickness who had been left to die because of the cost of helicoptering him off the mountain. That's the way of life there and deemed a risk of the job! Fortunately there was a whip round and the money was raised to rescue him. Kit can definitely be purchased very cheaply, I have a really good quality Goretex running jacket that he brought back for me which was apparanetlyvery cheap.
  19. hmmm never an easy one to explain! I found a Blackberry in the toilets of a curry house on LL on Saturday night/ Sunday morning, recognised it as being my housemates, she was very pleased she didnt have to explain to work how she came to leave it in the toilets of a curry house in the early hours of Sunday ;-) Good luck, hope he gets it back !
  20. hmmm past experiences from friends and family show its worth being persistent and not being brushed off. I think for non serious complaints a telephone consultation is fine, but if there is any chance the problem is serious / life threatening, it definitely pays to be persistent. That applies just as much to face to face consultations as well as telephone one's!
  21. I use the same surgery and have noticed recently that getting an appointment anytime soon is near on impossible, seems you have to diarise being injured / ill at least a week in advance ;-) Last time I went, having waited a week to see a Dr, she then consulted the internet (as I had already done) and told me to do what I had told her I had been doing for the last month! I then was told to give it another week and then see a different doctor who knew about sports injuries.......... hmmmm That said, I am sure that the new system can only help matters, just concerning that things could be missed given that they get missed even when a Dr is seen in person :'(
  22. How very dare you ;-) Jack isnt that bad!!
  23. I'm with citizenED and BJL, one with the angry Squirrel >:D
