  1. I'd say that given Mr Barber's failure to find two unanswered emails in his in box, and IamHere's dissapearance from the forum, it is highly likely that the original post was an attempt at some kind of smear campaign against Mr Barber. Look's like it has back fired! Barber for PM!!!!!!
  2. As somebody who works in a job where I get a lot of emails, some good and some frivolous, where if I were to respond to them all I would be up all night, I completely understand if Mr Barber leaves some unanswered. I actually admire his patience with the people who write to him. If I were constantly bombarded by constituents moaning about "rusty railings on East Dulwich Grove" or "traffic light timings in Dulwich village" I would go insane! Original poster, why don't you put your emails to Mr Barber on here, to demonstrate that they warrant a reply? I'll bet they were about a mars bar wrapper in Dulwich park, or some other pointless crap like that.
  3. Just thought I'd come on here and mention what a pleasant afternoon I had at the Horniman museum yesterday.(Sunday). The gardens were lovely and many of the museum exhibts were absoultely fascinating. I was genuinely surprised at the scope of the natural history section (check out the bat skeletons) and the aquarium took me off to far flung foreign seas. Wholeheartedly recommended and comes at the extortionate cost of..................fook all!
  4. In fairness the police in this area are generally very good. They were spot on when my GF was victim of an attempted mugging a couple of years back, couldn't have asked for more. There is however a difference between good policing, protecting the likes of you and I from criminals, and intruding into people's privacy. Through doing so with things like these dogs, they are alientaing people like myself, the very people they are supposed to be protecting.
  5. To be honest Joseph and Nisha, I don't think you have much to worry about. That Sainsbury's is pretty poor and expensive in my opinion, and doesn't seem to have half of the stuff you sell, despite having double the floor area! I will still visit your shop for the things you do best, good fruit and veg and an excellent array of south Asian foods, lentils, spices, etc.
  6. I do feel really strongly about this dog situation... thanks for your reply Mr Barber. I think the Police could be doing this for a number of possible reasons: 1) as a means of training the dogs, to give them experience of doing their job in the real world. 2) To boost crime figures and to show that they are doing something in the hopeless 'war on drugs'. 3) Perhaps which ever Chief Constable (or whatever rank they may be) is commissioning these operations is quite simply an overly zealous fascist ######, with something against harmless and otherwise law abiding recreational drug users. I doubt very much that there is some kind of shipment or big bust about to occur. Anybody in posession of anything worth worrying about would know not to go anywhere near rail transport. This article makes interesting reading: http://www.guardian.co.uk/society/2009/aug/11/police-sniffer-dogs-human-rights I am seriously condidering investigating this further. I can probably obtain, under the freedom of information act, some kind of statistics on all this... things like number of searches, number resulting in a 'find', the nature of the 'find', etc. I'll imagine the number of people found with a small amount of weed will significantly outnumber those found with anything less innocent. If that proves fruitless I shall at least be writing to our local police head honcho to try and get some kind of justification for this quite frankly very worrying move towards a surveilance society. That is of course if (as an evil herb smoker)I can find the time, inbetween my usual activities of corrupting children, mugging old grannies and generally causing damage to the underlying moral fabric of our great and free society. B) Mr Barber, would you and your Lib Dem chums (who I have been voting for for many years) be prepared to assist me with my potential campaign against this? I certainly think you guys could win a lot of friends in the run up to this year's election by taking the government to rights over the constant errosion of our right to privacy.
  7. JBARBER: Do you mind if I ask what your view is on the overly draconian use of dogs to sniff each and every commuter on their way out of the station? Do you think that such measures effectively tackle the criminal drug dealers that are a menace to society, or do you think they are a justified response to the utterly terrible problem of hard working, tax paying commuters having the odd joint or pill in their pockets? http://teamnoksecurity.co.uk/images/DSCF0605.jpg THE POLICE STATE IS WATCHING YOU! GUILTY, UNTIL PROVEN INNOCENT!
  8. A couple of rather predictable responses to my post, Bob sarcastically states: " I agree with Eater. How many innocent law-abiding herb-smoking, pill-munching, G-drinking, nitrous-inhaling, coke-snorting, mdma-dabbing, mephedrone-bombing perfectly respectable citizens will fall foul of this underhand tactic?" I believe he is trying to infer that people who do such things are not respectable citizens. I know many herb-smoking, pill-munching, coke-snorting, mdma-dabbing, mephedrone-bombing poeple who, through their drug use have never harmed anybody apart from themselves. They pay tens thousands of pounds a year in taxes and are upstanding, highly moral members of society with great lives ahead of them. These people do not deserve to be sniffed out with dogs and treated like criminals, whilst doing nothing more than going about their daily business. As for G-drinking and nitrous inhaling, I have no idea what he is on about. KidKruger states: "eater81 - I thik the whole point of sniffer dogs is that as you say people who carry drugs DON'T "give grounds to the police for concern or suspicion, (about what they) might be carrying in their pocket ". The fact that they are not waving the drugs around for all to see means that to detect and deal with them (from Police's point of view) they need to deploy other means of detection, such as the dogs." I don't know from his post whether he is on my side or not, however the fact that they are not waving the drugs around for all to see means that they are causing no harm or offence to anybody, should have their privacy respected and be allowed to go about their daily business un-hindered. Look, at the end of the day having a police dog at the exit to a local suburban station to arbitrarily sniff each and every commuter as they return home from work is more remeniscent of pre-Berlin wall east Germany than of a supposedly free and democratic society.
  9. Ticket checks fair enough, but using sniffer dogs to sniff people as they come out of the station? Absolutely disgusting. Wasnt ther'e something in the news this week about it being ilegal to stop and search people randomly without reason? Surely the same thing applies to sniffing someone with a dog. It is essentially a search after all. Using a sniffer dog to check what somebody, who gives no ground to the police for concern or suspicion, might be carrying in their pocket is an infringement of human rights. How many innocent, law abiding and perfectly respectable herb smokers have gained a criminal record through such tactics? People who were doing nothing more than descretely carrying their stash in their bag or pocket. It makes my blood boil.
  10. Sounds like somebody at Sainsbury's is trying to turn the screw, probably some repulsive store manager who's getting told off by his bosses for the shop doing so poorly. SAINSBURY'S OUT!
  11. Look, the fact is that that certain people ARE muppets and morons, otherwise the words would not exist in the English language. It is therfore the case that on occasion it is correct and fair to describe people using those words. It is my opinion that the staff in ED sainsbury's and Brixton Halfords exemplify those two words. The staff at Sainsbury's have proven my point with their imbecilic reaction to the situation that arose. Regarding Brixton Halfords, the last time I went in there I was so appalled that I vowed never to go in there again.
  12. Sue, you've done it again. I was not referring to your response to my post but to: "Posted by: Bellerophon January 04, 10:13PM Playing Devils Whatsisname, I should imagine some of those staff attempting to destroy the crime scene knew exactly what they were doing" "Posted by: Sue January 04, 10:31PM That's rather a serious accusation without presumably any basis of evidence whatsoever?".
  13. Look, to anybody upset with me, please read my post again. I'm not levying personal insults at the Sainsbury's staff, they probably all nice people, its just that working in a mind numbing job for fook all makes a person very apathetic, ultimately leading to them doing their job in a muppet-like manner. Things are not helped by the fact that they are treated like children by management. Did I not state that I too would be a useless muppet if I were paid 14k / year? Sue, please read my posts properly and at least attempt to understand the message I am trying to convey before insulting me. Hell, you've already embarrassed yourself by getting on your high horse through not understanding the concept of 'devils advocate'! As for the staff at Brixton Halfords however, low pay and apathy are no excuse for the behaviour exhibited by that bunch of numskulls.
  14. I find the attitude to the Sainsbury's staff of many of the people who have posted on this thread highly naive and amusing. The fact of the matter is that supermarket staff, security guards included, are and always will be a complete bunch of useless muppets. Quite frankly if I were being paid 14k a year, I would be too. The fact that many of you expected them to manage the situation in a manner that could be remotely described as intelligent betrays a complete lack of understanding of the real world. Tell ya what though, if you really wanna encounter a bunch of chumps who put even the ED Sainsbury's staff to shame I suggest paying a visit to Brixton Halfords. Utter morons.
  15. Any body know what has happened by the shops near the Library. Place is crawling with old Bill and also an ambulance.
  16. This parade had better not cause too much disruption. If I cant find a parking space when I come back from the supermarket on Saturday, I will not be amused. THings were bad enough round here on Tuesday night when there was some kind of x mas related event on in dulwich village. I dread to think whats gonna happen with this ludicrous 'parade'.
  17. http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,363511 Not good.
  18. Kick his wing mirrors off!
  19. I reckon a cycle shop would coin it on LL. And be really useful to us urban warriors out there.
  20. Brockwell lido gym is top. All new equipment and gives you a decent warm up running there from ED.
  21. Residents parking? Money making scheme for the council and a complete pain in the arse for residents. Used to live in grenwich, cost me 100 or so quid a year. Everytime gf came round had to give her a ?3 temporary pass. Only way of getting the passes was to send off for them from the council! The whole system drove me mad. Commuters coming to east dulwich to park does also make me mad however. When I used to live on LL it also drove me mad when I couldn't park near house due to all the shoppers. The long term solution is to improve this city's disgraceful public transport system so that people dont feel the need to drive, or to persuade people to ditch their car for a bike, like I have done. One last thing, people who drive to ED to get a train in the morning... where the bloody hell do they live for that to be a viable option? It 'd be quicker walking anywhere during the rush hour.
  22. Apparently the best people to speak to are the east dulwich safer neighbourhoods unit......tel: 0207 232 7310.
  23. Was the kid getting off at the sight of the young children? If so then this incident is very concerning, he could well be a paedophile in the making. The sexual urges you keep for live begin at 11-13 yrs old. If you're gonna be hetrosexual, gay or a nonce then you definitely know by the time you are 13. If all he was doing was having a quick one in the bushes, it is less concerning. I spent some time in India a few years ago and reguarly saw young lads beating one off in 'semi-private' places, never really bothered me. Lets face it, wanking is the number one hobby of 13 year old boys.
  24. My life is shit, but no shitter, indeed maybe better than most other people's, however I cannot suffer fools in the same way that others can. That is why I act like such an arsehole, its my only way of keeping myself sane and gaining some kind of perverted pleasure from life. Incidentally, the only sauce I had last night was tobasco on my tea.
  25. That article is great! Couldn't have put it better myself. Piss of with your mountain biked tyred prams and your long haired simpering brats. If you were really decent parents you wouldnt be bringing your kids up in this open sewer of a city.
