  1. American Robin, That word is one of the mildest used by Woof. Not a defense I know. Since he arrived standards have started to slip. And he takes up so much space on the page with his postings. I'd like to know if he speaks like that around his kids.
  2. Prices have gone up a lot since they filmed. 2 bed gardens are selling for more like ?340k. The house (or one like it) in Forest Hill or Honor Oak it looked like will also have gone up by the time they get back.

    Dishwasher

Bosch as well. Mine is 7 years old and is still going strong.
  4. See the thread in items offered section on Sausages. There are some hot 'bad boy' ones offered........

It is ubiquitous in the US. I don't understand why SMBS doesn't sell it anymore but they do have loads of other chile sauces.
  6. You should probably advertise in the local business section.
  7. Never tried their brownies but after trying their cinnamon roll don't think I want to.
  8. I am more inspired to cook these days. There is such a wealth of information available on the net. I also subscribe to a lot of food blogs. I am not a vegetarian but am making a lot of meat free dishes now. Spicing and herbs are fun to play around with. You can get pretty much anything down in Rye Lane.
  9. I didn't know Cafe Piaf was a chain. Where are the other restaurants? I had a bad meal in there once and never went back. Don't forget the Trini Roti Hut in Herne Hill. Dulwich Village is heavily restricted by the Dulwich Estate as to who can set up there. You could always stay home and whip up a good meal yourself!
  10. Rat poison is good as they get resistant to mouse poison. I had a few last year and got rid of them with the rat poison after trying mouse stuff. Found a few dried up bodies later on. I also used the glue traps which also worked.

I love the > locally owned places that you find in ED & Herne > Hill but are so lacking in Dulwich Village What about Romeo Jones and the Italian deli? Those are independent. You cant really compare ED to Dulwich Village as the Village is much smaller. There are only two chains there - Pizza Express and Cafe Rouge.
  12. I agree. But I doubt that The West (ie the United States) will impose sanctions on Israel because the Jewish vote (New York/California) is too important to them. But of course, Obama could surprise us/them. Israelis are some of the most obstinate and stubborn people in the world. It's a national trait. Obama needs to do something to distract people from his inept handling of the BP crisis.
  13. Daddie's sauce is good on buttered granary toast, topped with cooked tomatoes.
  14. Cholula - Mexican and available in Sainsbury's. It's not on fire hot but I can't take that sort. I like to put it on eggs, and also tortilla chips. Forgot to add sriracha chili sauce. Available in Chinese/Thai shops. SMBS used to sell it but not any more. And not forgetting harissa. Lovely in lamb burgers and on top. There are a lot of different types about, the most ubiquitous is the one in the tube. edited for addition
  15. Steve, Interesting perspective. Amongst other things, sounds like you need a new mattress (perhaps memory foam or softer pocketed sprung) and pillow. The older you get the softer and more pliable mattress you need. Your body needs to be cradled by the mattress, not just lay on top of it. Bull**** to hard orthopedic mattresses. Have you tried glucosamine for joint pain? At least your kids aren't squabbling and competing while living in your house. Maybe they will become more solicitous of you as they get older.

    Mr Laws resigns

Why are there two threads on the same topic started by the same person? And his name is Laws, not Law. Edited to say thanks for changing his name to correct spelling.
  17. You went to a pizza restaurant and didn't have a pizza? That is all I have ever had there except for some olives and bread. I think the Gowlett pizza can be ok but the edges are usually burnt and dry and the quality does not justify the price.
  18. I think arsebrain is better than arsemouth.
  19. Mr. Hoople, The first paragraph was for you. The second one was just an additional observation to add to this thread. Arsemouth? What does that mean? edited due to spelling mistake of a new word
  20. So that's your excuse Mr. Hoople. Just showing solidarity in a mocking manner......why not lead by example? Using loose instead of lose. And advise instead of advice as mentioned above. I've never heard of &c. before. Who uses that?
  21. In London one friend's mother - in her 70s - was worried about her memory and had numerous tests and was found to have short term memory loss. This meant that after a conversation with her she did not remember anything you had talked about which was quite alarming. But it wasn't dementia. Also had a friend also in her 70s who was diagnosed with Alzheimers. She was already under the Maudsley as she was bipolar and had been for years. She was also a heavy smoker. Believe smoking can contribute to dementia.

Pecanpie, you are getting beigels (pron. bygels) or bagels in Whitechapel, not bagles. The ones in Brick Lane are different to the ones in North London shops like Golders Green in case you ever wanted to do a taste testing. The ones at Sainsbury are absolutely rubbish and are just like a roll with a hole in the middle.
  23. ruffers Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Il Mirto - Melbourne Grove > > Next! I like how there is a picture of one of the staff members outside eating! They do have nice pizzas. I rate the Il Mirto version with sausage and sheep's cheese and their tuna one which you can get without cheese. They also have their sister restaurant across the park in Nunhead.

  25. Sounds like what you should do is get some nice new sheets and some silk pillowcases. I googled those yesterday and found some for ?18 each. Tempted to get a pair myself. Feather and Black do some very nice soft silk effect cotton sheets and duvet covers a friend of mind bought a year or so ago and she really recommends them. They have a sale on as well.
