  1. Thanks for your responses. It is hellish driving around there. This is what I did. Drove up Blackheath Road and parked in the Wickes and Pets at Home Car Park. Then walked down. You get 2 hours parking there. I am sure you could park longer as I think the tickets you could be issued with are not enforceable. I did buy stuff in Pets at Home though.......

  3. Don't know if this is the right place to put this but I need to go to Deptford High Street and wanted to know if anyone knew what the parking restrictions are around there/or somewhere to park. I need to go to the end nearest New Cross. Thanks.

It is enormous. Do you really think it is suitable for a single family occupancy? Back in the day a house like that would have had servants.
  5. Planning permission used to last for 5 years and is now 3 years. Changed a couple of years ago. You apply again and pay a new fee.
  6. Prices were a lot lower in 1999. House could have been bought way before then and possibly not have a mortgage or a very small one. Maybe owner was living in it. So ?715k is a alot of money to pay for a house that is in a state and I would expect that the work will start as soon as planning permission is granted in order for the purchaser to convert into flats which they will then sell on or rent. And why is that a bad thing? Perhaps the purchaser is also planning on living in one of the flats. Those houses are HUGE and not many people would need or be able to afford to live in one that size. Are there any that have not been split into flats?
  7. I looked at the neighbourhood when first looking in ED. Is it right that it was built by two different developers? Barratt and Wimpey? Is there any difference to the quality of the builds? Soundproofing and heat retention etc. They look like they would be easy to maintain.
  8. Is it the same staff from before?
  9. The squatters never said they climbed in through an 'open' window. They said an upstairs window. No mention was made as to whether or not it was open. Because they didn't say open I will assume it wasn't. So they could have well have broken the window to get in and then repaired it so as to not leave any trace.
  10. Wonder if squatters pay council tax?
  11. If you google white spirit on clothes it comes up with loads of information. There is a link to the moneysavingexpert.com site as well. Several people complained that by washing items in their machine then the drum ended up stinking of white spirit. So it seemed to be handwash and hang on line - lemon juice and baking soda was also mentioned.
  12. I like the bit where the squatters say the rotting windows are making the house really cold. Boo-hoo.
  13. Systems Solutions in Blackwater Street sometimes have newer second hand Macs for sale. Karl knows a lot about them.
  14. A cockatiel isn't the same as those parrots/parakeets on Peckham Rye. What colour was the cockatiel?
  15. Seems odd that it isn't half the price of a medium bag. Think most things are sold in metric measurements nowadays.
  16. Don't think it is hayfever. I don't get it although I realize that you can get it at any time in your life. It is the itchy face and also scalp that makes me think it is the dust.
  17. I was outside for about 5 hours yesterday. ED/Herne Hill and Brixton. My nose started running at the end of the day and eyes and throat felt scratchy and still does. My face also feels like it has been exfoliated with a brillo pad. Not pleasant. I agree with you about the mask.
  18. What road do you live in cmas? Perhaps they are drunken revellers on their way home or back to cars after imbibing. Lots more drinking establishments in Lordship Lane now.

  20. You're welcome. I am on a constant quest for good liquorice toffees. H&G used to run out alot and sometimes had naff ones in. I also like the aniseed balls. There is a good sweet shop in Columbia Road Market if anyone is going over there. Can't remember the name. And have you seen the website aquarterof?

  22. Maybe you should put this in the Local Businesses section.
  23. I have a green bin for normal waste and a brown one for garden waste. Blue box for cans, glass and plastic and a blue bag for card/paper. I also have a large green bag for collected garden waste which I then dump in the brown bin.

  25. You can get in through a hole in the fence round by the gardeners' site. Just go through that way and don't sweat trying to get Southwark to change their policy.
