  1. Are they hanging around in "tree gangs" now, intimidatimg passers-by threatening to "needle" them or asking for support as they served the country before being callously abandoned after they weren't needed any more? You can help by going to http://veterantrees.co.uk/ and donating your old tinsel and out of date chocolate coins 🤣
  2. For funks sake Why is everyone arguing and, as requested to Earl, no one contacting [email protected] to actually ask the ruddy question of who the 5mph sign applies to ? After all that would solve this silly rabbit hole discussion. Or do you all just love the sound of your own posts so much and have funk all else to do all day ?
  3. How clearly blinkered you are and how far have you gone down your own rabbit hole ? The blue sign clearly shows the shared path is only for pedestrians, who get priority due to the size of the figure, dogs and cyclists. Basically no cars or motor vehicles. Therefore the 5mph clearly isn't aimed at motor vehicles as they are not allowed to use the shared space. The only logical conclusion is that it is setting the maximum speed limit for all users of shared spaces. Might be interesting to ask the council directly what the rules / bylaws are if yiu doubt who the sign is aimed at using [email protected] But, as per your usual modus operandi, you will not follow that up as you don't think its your job to verify your position. (Maybe you will prove me wrong here) However if you don't verify it, then you appear to be just talking bull manure to feel self Important (IMHO)
  4. Ahhh The beauty of a cyclists logic, ignoring signs they "think" don't apply to them. That explains the red light problem 🤣
  5. Thanks I am reading that as a shared space only for pedestrians, dogs and cyclists. With a maximum speed of 5 mph for all, including cyclists. Someone else maybe able to interpret it differently (if my understanding is not correct) Doesn't mention cars or horses allowed @Earl Aelfheah have yiu got photos of a different sign saying otherwise?
  6. Hope, with this cold and horrid weather, Teddy has come home
  7. Maybe, temper the complaint to say that it is a popular, well used service but understaffed by helpful people, often resulting in long queues of over an hour. Make it less about how bad it is but how well.used and needed it is 😉
  8. Suggestion Why don't you both provide recent photos of the relevant signs so everyone reading this can see what they say. Question Are you all in the same retirement home or different ones as you seem to spend all your days posting? 🤣
  9. Back to normal today
  10. Evidence for why Cycling has become more popular thus increasing numbers with promotional increases in bad practices, including going above set speed limits jumping lights, (the list goes on).and as the roads and some paths are shared spaces then everyone needs to abide by the same rules Please stop being blinkered and using the normal cycling argument that they are special cases, they shouldn't be
  11. @Earl Aelfheah, I refer you to the above quote from ex in relation to Google ai (chatgpt in your case) EX, because something is hard to do, that doesn't make it not worth doing. In the eaery days cars had no speedometers, you didn't need a licence to drive and they also had a person walking in front with a red flag, but now as they have become mainstream all that has changed at cost , so again I ask, why not the same for bikes? Or do.you believe cyclists should be excluded from additional regulations and potential costs (love to see that argument play out for cars)
  12. Maybe it is time for cyclists to be brought into the current regulations, if not why not ? The 5mph is being applied to shared space in a park, not applicable to normal motor vehicles, with the exception of council ones who should abide by the rules. So now who's being ridiculous with their answer (pointing at you Earl)
  13. If you are correct, then with the growing number of cyclists, maybe they should. Funny, this feels similar to the argument that 20.was too slow for cars and drivers would have more accidents as they monitored their speedometers. Proved incorrect in the end and drivers adjusted and it didn't increase accidents. If cyclists can't controll their bikes at low speeds, then cycling faster in shared spaces towards pedestrians children or animals isn't the answer. Obviously dismounting and walking through shared space is the correct course of action.
  14. Interesting assumption by the Author about cyclust numbers Quote "so there were more than likely hundreds of cyclists coming through at this time. " There may well be, but as the number of cyclists was not recorded by either journalist then it is an assumption and shouldn't be quoted. Another speculation was how many cyclists over the limit were with a 2mph margin for error, again not actually observed bt the road.cc journalist so pure assumption. FYI I did read both articles and both are click bait to be read with scepticism.
  15. Let's take the whole paragraph "So first off, the most flagrant example of breaking the limit they could find is 7mph over the 12mph limit. For posterity, 7mph is the same speed as a light jog. It’s the equivalent of somebody doing roughly 45 in a 30 while driving; which would indeed be speeding and absolutely should never be condoned, but that's the very worst example they could find" So yes, a light jog added to the equivalent of running (12 run + 7 jog) and as said 50% over the limit (equivalent to 45 in.a 30 zone or 30 in a 20 zone or 105 in a 70 zone) so by the authors logic its okay to do 50% more than the speed limit on a bike... surly one rule applies to all! Road.cc is a very pro.cycling site so it is the equivalent of the daily mail click bait in my opinion and should be taken with a pinch of salt to balance their views.
  16. I can only suspect 40s are turning around at the goose green roundabout. Thete was a road closed sign on Friern Road the other day so suspect that is the cause, but no roadworks showing on the roadworks map.
  17. Nothing on the tfl website indicating disruption but buses 12 and 40 aren't showing up when searching for next bus at the plough stop so I assume the disruption isn't showing (yet) Joy of cold winter days and additional changes to get anywhere ! To the mayor of London, every journey matters (unless you live in East Dulwich and need to use a 12 or 40) In the past they turned the 12 around using the goose green roundabout, why don't they do it now ?
  18. Just saw on the bbc london news at 6.30 tonight, that there is a Christmas tree rental scheme in the Dulwich area where you rent a potted tree and return it after Christmas. Great idea, anyone know where it is?
  19. If your application is with the DVLA and you haven't been advised by a medical professional not to drive, then you are normally covered by section 88 of the road traffic act. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/inf1886-can-i-drive-while-my-application-is-with-dvla But read it carefully to make sure you.are covered
  20. These have reduced over the years, are "perfect" lives Round Robins being replaced by "perfect" lives Instagram posts where we see all year round how people portray their perfect lives ? The point of this thread is that for the last few years, due to issues at the mail offices, we had delays to post over Christmas. Not really been flagged as an issue this year but I am still betting on the odd card, posted well before Christmas, arriving late January.
  21. Its that time of year again, past Christmas day and late delayed cards are turning up. How late are your cards arriving ? Last year I had one delivered 4 weeks late. Can that be beaten this year ?
  22. Sadly, a lot of businesses didn't invite reviews on the EDF at that time due to a number of "negative nellies" that would take delight in posting unfavourable comments, often despite never being to the business in question. No matter how good the place was, some posters would find fault that wasn't there "don't lile the colour of the bidet set in the private bathroom, avocado 😅" Can hardly blame businesses at the time for not wanting reviews on here, thankfully that has mostly changed now.
  23. Is there a speed limit for dogs off leads cycling through the park ?
  24. That was a very cool place, many an interesting late night
  25. As its Christmas @malumbu, I've booked and paid for rooms at St.Albans. its in my name Sandy Klaws. Its a bit of a drive (or cycle) but its lovely. Just tell them I've sent you and give them you EDF name when you get there and all will be sorted. Happy Christmas all.
