Interesting stats on cycle red light jumpers

Smacks of "its too hard to stop them so let them do it" Slightly defeatist and will encourage other road users to do the same -
Interesting stats on cycle red light jumpers

I think, Sue, that is the definition of addiction. Exactly what phone companies want, us to be addicted to tech so that they can sell us even more expensive shiny new gadgets. However this is a thread focusing on red light jumping and I guess the real question is how do we stop it for all road users ? -

Sadly, that also is true of cyclists and pedestrians. It seems everyone is glued to their phone whilst moving. Maybe we should ban phones (radical idea) and go back to how we all communicated before them. Face to face and talking to each other. -

Chatgpt is a joy (and scary) No Water on Barry Road" (to the tune of No Woman, No Cry) (Verse 1) No water… on Barry Road No water… on Barry Road Said, I remember, when we used to flow In the tap by the old front gate Oba served us clear, sweet water Then it vanished like fate And then the plumber would come in the evening Fixing pipes, sayin’, "Just hold tight" But every time we checked the faucet It was still a dusty fight (Chorus) No water… (no water) On Barry Road (on Barry Road) No water… yeah On Barry Road (Verse 2) I see the buckets lined up outside Hope in every pail we hold The sun be blazing, the kids be crying And the kettle’s running cold Good friends we had, and good friends we lost To the drought along the way In this bright future, we can't forget the past But we sure need water today (Chorus) No water… no flowin’ tide On Barry Road… we stand and sigh No water… but we still survive On Barry Road… we still try (Bridge) Oh, dry days will pass, I know Pipe dreams gotta start to flow But until then we wait and pray For rain or trucks to come our way (Final Chorus) No water… (no water) On Barry Road (on Barry Road) No water… no pride But still we rise… (It refused to sing it for me)

Came across this link today that generates a stock letter to you MP if you object to the Proposed chases in their current format. https://takingthepip.co.uk/write-to-your-mp/#letter Again, not trying to change individuals minds on here but get a fair consultation and discussion Only thing to remember is add your contact number to the bottom.orherwise it is ignored
-
@HeadNun I haven't been through the assessment for mental health issues, god knows they treat you like you have one when you are assessed for motability issues. Therefore I can't comment on what you've read but don't always believe what the media telks you as they often sensationalise things to sell papers and bend the story slightly 😉 All I am doing in this thread is asking people who disagree to the PIP reform in its current format to write to their MP to say so and ask for a well consulted and thought through change. I'm not here to change people's minds but happy to discuss how disability impacts lives.
-
Of course The tests are very stringent and they look carefully at claimants for things like how easily they can get up from an armless chair, if they don't use the chair arms thats a black mark, can they walk More 20 yards without problems including breathlessness, pain or even if they need aids (again over 20 yards reduces their chances of claiming) and so on Trust me, having been assessed a few times, its not easy or guarenteed to get or maintain PIP. But yes, the whole what is claimed for should be reviewed bur let's not penalise those who need it.
-
I too can wear a badge at the drinks
-
Like I said, the measure is needed but its badly thought through Most people who become or are disabled don't choose it (i certainly didn't) and often want to work but being disabled often adds costs to daily living so PIP is a valuable life line and carers are often taking strain of community support services so we can't begrudge their modest allowance. I'm simply advocating that the vote on Tuesday is withdrawn until its properly consulted on and thought through. Out of curiosity Angelina and Alice are either of you disabled or are you posting from a privileged point of view in life??
-
Problem is Angelina, removing pip also can result in loss of carers allowance which is key to some disabled people's quality of life. Do you think we should just abandon the most vulnerable in society ? I dont !!
-
I believe change is needed but, and this is a big but, it needs to be thought through properly and disabled people consulted on the impact
-
Just like you didn't address the point on cyclists often not respecting crossings. I believe Kathleen's comment, now removed, on you is wholey correct
-
-
What the actual "funk" had that to do with cyclists not respecting crossings? Another attempt at deflection from the bleeding obvious there @Earl Aelfheah
-
Today, after pressure from backbenchers, the goverent did a u turn on PIP cuts for the disabled but they are now proposing that existing claimant won't be impacted but new claimants will face a higher barrier to get PIP. Therefore two people with the same condition and difficulties in day to day living might get treated differently depending in when their condition started. This equates to an unfair two tier system and seems an ill thought knee jerk reaction. Please contact your local MP to ask them to vote against changes until it is properly thought through and disabled people are consulted on proposed changes.
-
Let's be honest here, from experience across London cyclists don't always respect pedestrian crossings, be it lights, pelican or zebra so why do you think this one will be treated differently? Maybe @vladi has a point with the barriers to slow cyclists down.
-
Just ask the London Cycling Committee to get behind it, after all cyclists need wooden bridges too For a change motorists, pedestrians and cyclists could campaign for the same thing 😅

Don't know which sat nav you use Sue, but mine looks like this
