  1. Something is very wrong with East Dulwich if ED Deli closes. It is part of our DNA. All surly service is forgiven. We must have access to their brownies. Would a petition help? This must not stand.
  2. Rye Cars are consistently outstanding. I've used them for 4 years for airport runs for me and visitors. Good price, on time, clean cars, professional and friendly drivers.
  3. It's great to read good reviews of the Gallery- another reason we are lucky to live in ED.
  4. We've got some great viewing ahead if our picks are shown. My first choice is Jim Jarmusch's 'Stranger Than Paradise'. Which perhaps speaks to ED life sometimes?
  5. We also had ADT Security ring our doorbell at about 7:30 this evening. My new tactic is to not open the door and to ask loudly 'who is it?'. If I'm not interested, I say 'we're not taking callers at this time'. It works a treat. Stay safe, everyone.
  6. Dear Southern, How hard can it be to depart from East Dulwich train station at say 8:00,as scheduled instead of 07:59?
  7. All about Kuki are great - including Gemma. I've posted several times on the great find that is Kuki and can only continue to do so. A couple of owners who know what they're about, hair styling delivered with integrity, quality and originality. They could increase prices but haven't. Another class outfit in our neighborhood. And UK Model - surely poor comments should include some constructive explanation?
  8. On Tuesday evening near the Chandelier cafe, an older lady took a tumble and had trouble getting up. As usual in East Dulwich, our neighbourly compassion shows itself and people came running to help. A special thanks to the young lady from Chandelier - you were marvellous. Also thanks to the two chaps with pizzas. My friend is in King's recovering from a hip fracture. I love living in ED.
  9. Unsure I can say much more. Well, yes I can. Thank you for great service. Rye Cars has consistently provided outstanding taxi-ing on all fronts. Very friendly, polite and professional drivers and call handlers, clean and big cars, punctual and patient. And prices are good.
  10. Esph have a 3 month taster deal at the moment. It's the most civilised gym with no pop music or TVs playing. They?re serious about their fitness.
  11. To Winslow, he's running a business - turning down unprofitable jobs is smart, probably difficult to but smart.
  12. Another sincere recommendation for Pete Bennison. He's professional, friendly, knowledgeable, reasonable and honest. Because he's so good he is also got a full schedule. I will always try and use Pete in the first instance.
  13. I use and recommend Pete Bennison, who's highly praised on this forum. Tel. 0778 841 2880 or 020 8299 1385. He's professional, trustworthy, knowledgeable, etc.
  14. Thanks for your responses. Sorry to hear of other victims. I'll try to catch one to determine if it's the Blandford fly which I think is the most likely suspect. I've only caught sight of one or two, not unlike having the odd fruit fly buzzing about after buying bananas. It's hard to believe that so few blighters can cause so many big bites. I'm considering breaking out the holiday bug juice. But living in ED is like being on holiday anyway.
  15. Has anyone else been suffering recently from mosquito-like bites, in the house? I've killed a couple of tiny black flies - similar in size to a fruit fly but with larger wings.
  16. I also recommend Crown Joinery, but be warned - he really takes his time. I've had doors fitted before and the job is about 3 hours. Alex and his mate took 9 hours - and whilst it's perfect in every way - I wasn't prepared for my entire day taken up with this. The problem is more lack of communication. There's no information forthcoming from Alex as to how long the door will take to build, when he can fit it, how long it will take to fit, etc. He also seems to demand to install the door at his convenience, which took a little managing. Slightly irritating, but worth the hassle. Would I use Crown again? Yes, if I knew I could spare the time.
  17. I've been a customer (on and off) of ED Deli for almost 5 years - and that chap has always been the same - miserable and completely lacking in customer service skills. I've said 'on and off' as I've left several times wondering why I'm paying loads of money for such crap service. However, some of the staff are amazingly good. In my view, smiling is part of customer service - or least some hint that they appreciate my custom would be nice. But, ED would be worse off without them - perhaps that's why it may not really matter what we think.
  18. Thank you for your recommendation - which I took. And you are spot on. My new door is beautiful and perfect and hopefully worth every penny. But installation was an unexpected 9-hour stint.
  19. The burgers here are really superb - the best I've had in London. I can't wait to try pretty much everything on the menu. I would imagine they'll have to raise their prices at some point. The slightest of suggestions - would love for the beautiful looking chips to be slightly more cooked.
  20. Please remember to dead bolt your doors - it only takes a credit card to gain entry.
  21. I need a new external door made and fitted - and wondered about using Runcent Joinery. It looks like some bad reviews a couple of years ago. Does anyone have positive reviews of them?
  22. Hello Seema - please would you also PM re your prices.
