former East Dulwich councillor - how can I help?
spider69 replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
How long before people admit it should have been as it was? Change for the sake of change and lust for free money handouts -
When Cllr Barber came off his bike was that an accident or what?
-
How long? Both for TFL and Southwark roads. If you took the accidents on Townley road it would prove nothing. Do not think a short period of time will prove anything. You have to take things over a much longer period. Still Southwark will jump on a figure and convert it into positive spin for a flawed policy.

Most Leaseholders consider Southwark Service Charges and Major Works obscene. So it could have been

Protect Peckham's Future: art deco, cultural economy, & more
spider69 replied to Eileen's topic in The Lounge
I was under the impression that the buildings fronting the station were to be pulled down, opening up the whole area into a useable and people friendly square. The concrete mass should be pulled down. Dark and very depressing. In fact the whole block area should have been pulled down. -
why cant the Dulwich Park ones be open. Closed since they started the drainage works which finished sometime ago?

Its a death trap. Always has been and suspect always will. Still Townley Road is far more important for Dulwichs little darlings although that is not a death trap and never has been

One hour free parking in the area...
spider69 replied to easytiger's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
"Drivers will get 10 minutes' grace before being fined if they stay too long in council-owned car parks in England, the government has announced." The new leeway, expected to take effect later this month, will apply to free and paid-for parking spaces both on streets and in off-street car parks. Can you comment on whether Southwark will be complying particularly in regard to the Peckham/Holly Grove dropoff. Bearing in mind the last thread on this money generation camera -
Perhaps it might be worth considering that any for or against debate on this subject is a complete waste of time as Southwark will do what ever they want regardless of public opinion. If you have 7 votes against including the Police and 2 for from the usual pressure groups you should be able to accept that you are being shafted 7 ways to Sunday.

What will this bring in the future, Any suggestions or thoughts from Cllrs

Looking at when the car arrived and when it left. Taking the p.ss, issue ticket. Unfortunately local authority workers no matter where in the country do seem to be lacking something where common sense and consideration is required.

Total consultancy replies 7 against, 2 for motion carried Full report can be found on Cllrs thread posted by bluecanary Item No. Classification: Open Date: 9 July 2014 Decision taker: Cabinet Member for Regeneration Planning and Transport Report title: Determination of Statutory Objections Relating to the Proposal to Introduce a Borough-wide 20mph Speed Limit. Considers the seven objections and two supporting responses made in relation to the proposed order to make Southwark a 20mph borough; 2. Reject the seven objections; 3. former East Dulwich councillor - how can I help?

Re: Confusing Speed Limit Signs Dear Cllr Barber Question asked on a different thread ------------------------------------------------------ > Can we know where the 44 locations are and why > they have been selected. Council officers > choice, residents, cycle pressure groups or > expensive consultants. After the Townley Road who did what show I too would like to know the answers to the above. The answers are there as they made a decision based on them -
Confirms what Charles Notice pointed out in a posting yesterday.

Green Dale? Hundreds a day in the summer. It's the main lower-traffic cycle route between Dulwich / Upper Norwood / Crystal Palace / Sydenham and London Bridge / City / Silicon Roundabout. I really do have the wrong place. Hyperbole in spades There is so much hyperbole regarding this junction. The statistics indicate it is not a problem except in people minds. Not quite true: I've personally experienced a handful of near-misses there on a bike & know others (all of us with 10+ years experience riding on London roads) who also have. Perhaps you all should take some extra coaching I am sure I spotted Elvis there the other day coming down Greendale. Common sense is all that is required.

"where one of Southwark's major cycle ways > crosses" Are you sure you have the right walkway. I have hardly ever seem cyclists use it. More dog walkers than bikes. There is so much hyperbole regarding this junction. The statistics indicate it is not a problem except in people minds.

In responce to @Woodwarde, Charles Notice wrote earlier "The officers sit in a room with a red pencil and draw lines on a map. Post a piece of paper on a lamp post and hope no one noticed what is happening Local pressure groups badger Cllrs and the thing gets passed. Most locals have no idea it happens. Join a local green or cycling pressure group and find out" How true this is turning out to be

Accident on Lordship Lane / East Dulwich Grove
spider69 replied to sophie_e_down's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
it is amazing how danger has appeared since gentification. How did ED reach 2015. Safety is paramount but it does appear that people do not want to take responsibility for their own lives. If accidents do happen at this juction any offenders should have the book thrown at the. However Human rights will negate that. I seem to recall that the 20mpy for LL from GG to Whately road was going to stop all this. Why not get rid of the lights and put proper zebra crossings on EDR and both sides of LL yellow box , before and after EDG. Install cameras to monitor and charge if an offence is made. -
Inform your mortgage company you are in dispute and they will not pay. Southwark will then have to take you to court to get a court judgement to force them to pay. Southwark cannot do anything until this has been undertaken. If you are in dispute ask for a fully itemised breakdown of all repairs. Remember if any are over ?250 per flat they need to serve a S20. Southwark may seem cheap but you will pay in the long run. More so if there is Council tenant in residence. Southwark needs money and all legal action will be paid by the Council Tax. Maybe people will listen to others stories in the future. If you have submitted a formal complaint it will be looked at by the complaints team. Stage 1 and then stage 2 if you still disagree. The Service charge collection team will not be involved apart from supplying all details that the compaints team require for them to make a judgement. Then if all else fails Southwark can then take legal action. Before legal action then you can take the matter to the leasehold tribunial, or what ever it is called now Do not be threatened.

Why is this post discussing teachers parking, coaches, CPZ, local traffic when the thread should be about "Consultation on ?improving? the junction of East Dulwich Grove, Townley Road and Green Dale" to allow people however powered to cross the road from A to B. Crossing the junction Perhaps there are too many separate interests at work to ever produce a viable solition. My children went to Alleyns 25 years ago with the same situation as now with no problems. Why has it suddenly now become a major issue?

I think we are all at a loss to understand how the proposal can have got this far without asking for the views of residents - who are cyclists, pedestrians, bus-users and car-drivers, have children at local schools, and know these local roads very well. We all want this junction to be safe. But we don?t want changes that cause traffic problems all over Dulwich and East Dulwich, and make other junctions and residential roads less safe for pedestrians and cyclists. Like most things with Southwark they just hoped they could slip it through. Perhaps the Cllrs could be more on the ball?
