  1. Personally I wish the 176 stopped in Oxford Circus like it used to. I know we have the 12 but it would be great to have 2 busses to W1 especially when the train service is rubbish
  2. I avoid daytime at weekends lots of families and children but kids in the evenings? We often go with our neighbours and we are all 50+..
  3. @Azalea Sylvan post is the same,,and pretty busy. Same interior still serves food nothing has changed.
  4. I actually LIKE the Bird In Hand-mainly because its not been gentrified and has nice staff. A lot of locals go there and its not pretentious they even let some elderly people that used to frequent Weatherspoons sit and drink pots of tea, read papers bring their own buiscuits and just hang out. Its a real 'local' and I just wish it was busier.
  5. More food and drink places? mind you..prefrable to a nail bar facial asthetics or estate agent I guess.
  6. perhaps suggest the council put a fence around the tree then? And a sign saying do not climb'? Its a beautiful tree not a climbing frame I'm sure more people get pleasure just seeing it than the amount of children who climb it. there are great climbing frames outside for children specifically designed for the purpose like the one in the playground by Goose green. I'm not anti kids, I just think trees are living things and should'nt be looked upon as playgrounds.
  7. @beansprout I'd be very happy to see the back of 'Megans on the lordship' or whatever its called The food is grim (nice on the menu the reality is awful) dreadful muzak and all round pretty dreadful. I'd much rather see punters spending their money in places like Love Dulwich,Kanella,Johnnies and so on.
  8. My other half and I both shop there. Its an aladdins cave full of absolute gems at really excellent prices. Great trimmings too. @Gra369perhaps post on bothe the SE23.com and Sydenham forums as well. Though I hate to let the secret out about your wonderful shop!
  9. Perhaps contact Celia Hammond?
  10. Peckham Car boot?
  11. Yes its still there and trading and they are very helpful and know their stuff.
  12. But surely climbing trees is'nt a particulary safe thing for a child to do..They could fall get scratches, cuts etc?
  13. I liked the shop but felt put off having to ask the price of things..I think it would do better in Dulwich Village. It was'nt in a location I would immediately think of if wanting to spend £100 upwards on a decorative item for a shelf.
  14. If you speak to the reception you should be able to get a free gym induction as part of your membership. Not enough people actually get guidence on how to use the equipment properly and therefore either don't get the best out of it or injure themselves. After the refurb I booked an induction so I learnt how to adjust the new equipment because despite attending there for about 10years I was used to the old machines and equipment and at my age (64) I really did'nt want to faff around not knowing how adjust things correctly. As regards advance booking classes I know for sure you used to be able to book a class 10days in advance but not sure about 2 weeks. Good luck in the gym!
  15. @Jellybeanz In response you know nothing about me I will not list all the charities I support (with regular donations) I simply feel there are ample inexpensive opportunities for small buisnesses to advertise their services.
  16. @angehouse I've found the same issue..its been the same for over 2 years now...every class I want to attend has a waitlist even 10days in advance and then a few hours before spaces magically become available by which point I've made other plans or do'nt have my gym stuff to hand and I'm not in the area (I don'nt lead a life where I can just sit at home and amble down to the gym as and when..theres only a few classes I can get to on my days off work) Its very very annoying. I'm sure its the same people that book well in advance then cancel..if only they could monitor the people who do this repeatedly and bar them from advance bookings for 6 weeks or something to teach them a lesson. For this reason I have'nt been to any classes at the gym for well over a year and just use the gym. Its frustrating.
  17. I agree. The staff are always lovely!
  18. Is this a joke? Are you a troll? I'd rather see foodbanks and things to genuinely help the local community (including the elderly or less well off some of whom may not have internet acesss or a smartphone/home computer) If you're a new mum or looking for a baby group surely theres 'Mumsnet' or similar and indeed a section of this forum dedicated to this sort of thing. I'm actually in shock at your post the whole of East Dulwich is not populated by 'middle class' mums there is plenty of local authority housing and elderly and mums who cant afford to pay to go to mother and baby groups and are struggling to feed their kids and keep a roof over their head. You need to step out of your bubble.
  19. I agree that the machines are nowhere near as good as the old ones. The elipical machines well are a bit rubbish-there is a lot more equpment but the quality and features on the cardio machines feel more for home use than a public gym. The weight machines are nowhere near as good as technogym ones which were there previously.
  20. Gawd another gaff pushing Botox and other such stuff..🙄
  21. Yama Momo is excellent and I highly reccomed Sushi Garden on Dartmoth Road Forest hill (opposite Forest Hill Pools) The chef there worked in some top Sushi resturants in Central london previously, one of my neighbours reccomended it and I can honestly say its superb and very reaonable for great quality food.
  22. what dioes Dolled up sell? Dolls????
  23. Me too Health matters know their stuff give great advice and Monica and the team are lovely. H&B have minimum wage staff who although they are nice enough I would never trust for advice or guidence. I would always support a long running indpendent local buisness rather than a chain. It won't if you and others choose to support a small indpendent who have staff with superb product knowledge rather than a nationwide chain with regular 'salespeople'
  24. I would look in the surrounding area as once they realise it has nothing they could sell or of obvious monatary value in it they'll dump the bag and contents.
  25. as a retail worker I was once a member of USDAW I found they only have teeth when the majority of employees in a company are members. I remember in a former job I needed their help and found them somewhat flaky and therefore never re-enrolled in my next job. even if a union gets involved with something like working temparature it could take months to get a resolution..and then it'll be spring.
