I had the same thing happen about a year ago... a couple of times in fact. I obviously react a lot less to posts than I used to because it has'nt happened again!

As a former Pug owner I get really upset and angry when I see owners of brachycephalic breeds (all bull dog breeds, pugs etc) taking them out in hot sun..Those breeds should be walked very early in the morning and at dusk ideally or if they need a pee just pop out for a moment or two..do NOT drag the dog around panting like a fur accessory. I REALLY want to 'have a word' with the owners but when i once did that a couple of years ago (frenchie pup being dragged along panting in the heat kept trying to lie down in obvious distress) its female owner told me to f-off and mind my own buisness so now I avoid the aggro.

When I used to go to the one in Woodwarde road I found them expensive but not exceptional- They kept suggesting I have an acid treatment on my toenails which have a tendancy to become ingrown-I think it was many hundreds of pounds (about £400 5 or so years ago) when I found my current Podiatrist (who teaches at The Royal college of Podiatrists) he told me that A: that treatment was'nt foolproof and the nail could grow back and B: that he really did'nt reccomend it in my case. I also did'nt like how the charges at Woodwarde rd just kept getting higher and varied depending on whom was treating me.

I really like Romeo Jones, Sad its going. I refuse to frequent Gails & Megans I cant bear the homogenisation of London. Its become such a bland city now. -
Brockwell Lido - in a miserable state
NewWave replied to Juliettep3's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I find Fusion are Horrendous. When they ran Forest Hill pools it was always (although a new facility at the time) really grubby. Overflowing filthy toilets, dirty changing rooms, slippery floors and filthy swimming pool with cloudy water and Lifeguards who did'nt give a damn about teens jumping in the pool and making trouble pushing and splashing adult and elderly swimmers. It was grim and I cancelled my membership and joined Dulwich leisure Centre because I got tired of complaining about changing rooms that smelt of p**s and used sanitary products left on the floor...and nothing changing..new managers would come promise improvement and making zero difference. In the End they lost the contact and FHP is run by Better and it really is....Better! I'm now happy to go there its well staffed, clean and well run. Unfortunately unless Fusion loose the contract for the Lido I fear things won't improve. -
Indoor market in East Dulwich - Would you be interested?
NewWave replied to radnrach's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I would love something like this..I remember the one where Gails is now..It had some bric a brac furniture and 2nd hand clothes, I don't remeber the Oyster bar. The issue with the one on Zenoria St-And I speak as a long time habitué of Portobello, Kensington Market, Alfies,Spitalfields,Covent Garden (back when it had a decent vintage market on Mondays in the 80's and Early 90's) ..Was that a lot of the stuff they sold looked a bit meh..like a bad car boot fair. I also remember when we first moved here a small indoor market on the corner of North X road and Felbrigg rd that had bric a brac and bits of furniture..That one had some good stuff. I think the secret is in having a good mix of stalls selling well curated pieces at decent prices...It would also be good to have a few tables and rails available to rent for one-off sellers (car boot style) by application. When I lived in Notting Hill I used to do Portobello under the flyover a couple of times a year and made really decent money because people tended to go there on sundays for the Casual stallholders rather the same dealers selling the same stuff. -
Personally I feel its a shame for the tree. The bridge looks pretty badly damaged-I just hope it does'nt mean the entrance from Dulwich Common/Lordship Lane will be closed for ages while they fix it.
-
Our neighbour sent a pic of the fallen tree across the end of the bridge. its a HUGE tree-made me feel sad to see such a giant fallen. Odd though theres been no storms or anything

I reccomend Crab Salad-I used to have my hair cut by the owner when he was at Blue tit in Peckham...I moved with him to Cs when he opened it. I've had other stylists there when he was'nt available on the date I could make and they're all excellent. Its a nice vibe too-just very relaxed not too 'hairdressery' (If you know what I mean) and I've reccomended it to neighbours and colleages who've all been very happy. Its not the cheapest but nor is it super pricey and they use good products too.

Sorry to sound stupid-what is a BIAB manicure? -
I had mine in Lewisham it was Moderna. It seems thats the most widely used one now I only know because I prefer Pfizer moderna gives me a sore arm (I think they call it 'Covid Arm') every time but it appears to get Moderna you have to pay for it or try and find a pharmacy that has it.

Agree with @Sue the Dog is awful-nice building awful food. We like The Rossendale and Watsons

New fences Perry Vale/Dacres Road - Forest Hill
NewWave replied to Fh543's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I noticed that too when we drove past yeaterday I can't imagine they'd build a house there-Its frankly odd-There's no planning permission notice visible. SE23.com still exists btw but not SE23life -
Are you a Barber there by any chance?
-
Agree but not so great for the independently owned cafes shops etc.
-
My husband goes to the newish one near the Watchpolisher on Lordship Lane.(sorry cant remember name-) I can assure you they're not 'fake' He started going there because his excellent long-term barber had to rent a chair there when the shop he used to work from in Forest Hill closed. I think one needs to be careful when making statements like that above as it can damage reputable buisnesses. Also I should add the Barbers I mention always seems to be busy
