I would love something like this..I remember the one where Gails is now..It had some bric a brac furniture and 2nd hand clothes, I don't remeber the Oyster bar. The issue with the one on Zenoria St-And I speak as a long time habitué of Portobello, Kensington Market, Alfies,Spitalfields,Covent Garden (back when it had a decent vintage market on Mondays in the 80's and Early 90's) ..Was that a lot of the stuff they sold looked a bit meh..like a bad car boot fair. I also remember when we first moved here a small indoor market on the corner of North X road and Felbrigg rd that had bric a brac and bits of furniture..That one had some good stuff. I think the secret is in having a good mix of stalls selling well curated pieces at decent prices...It would also be good to have a few tables and rails available to rent for one-off sellers (car boot style) by application. When I lived in Notting Hill I used to do Portobello under the flyover a couple of times a year and made really decent money because people tended to go there on sundays for the Casual stallholders rather the same dealers selling the same stuff.

Personally I feel its a shame for the tree. The bridge looks pretty badly damaged-I just hope it does'nt mean the entrance from Dulwich Common/Lordship Lane will be closed for ages while they fix it.

Our neighbour sent a pic of the fallen tree across the end of the bridge. its a HUGE tree-made me feel sad to see such a giant fallen. Odd though theres been no storms or anything

Queens Head in Downe its a 16th century pub do great Sunday roasts too!

I reccomend Crab Salad-I used to have my hair cut by the owner when he was at Blue tit in Peckham...I moved with him to Cs when he opened it. I've had other stylists there when he was'nt available on the date I could make and they're all excellent. Its a nice vibe too-just very relaxed not too 'hairdressery' (If you know what I mean) and I've reccomended it to neighbours and colleages who've all been very happy. Its not the cheapest but nor is it super pricey and they use good products too.

They also collect outside Marylebone mainline station

We go to Coolings garden centre which is'nt exactly local its near Bromley but they do deliver. Since Shannons closed we've been going there-its HUGE good knowledgeable staff and not overpriced. every plant we've purchased from them has done really well-AND theres a lovely pub nearby!

@Sue Yes-I meant its Pfizer you have to pay for. the Chesmist I had administer the vaccination this time had no pfizer available but last year I had my vaccination near work in central london and when I enquired about if I could have Pfizer I was told not on the NHS but I could have it privately for £100.

I had mine in Lewisham it was Moderna. It seems thats the most widely used one now I only know because I prefer Pfizer moderna gives me a sore arm (I think they call it 'Covid Arm') every time but it appears to get Moderna you have to pay for it or try and find a pharmacy that has it.

Agree with @Sue the Dog is awful-nice building awful food. We like The Rossendale and Watsons

I noticed that too when we drove past yeaterday I can't imagine they'd build a house there-Its frankly odd-There's no planning permission notice visible. SE23.com still exists btw but not SE23life

Agree but not so great for the independently owned cafes shops etc.

My husband goes to the newish one near the Watchpolisher on Lordship Lane.(sorry cant remember name-) I can assure you they're not 'fake' He started going there because his excellent long-term barber had to rent a chair there when the shop he used to work from in Forest Hill closed. I think one needs to be careful when making statements like that above as it can damage reputable buisnesses. Also I should add the Barbers I mention always seems to be busy

Went there for a drink must have been about 7 or so years ago, lovely building but the bar and the whole place lacked atmosphere, funnily enough just last week we were coming back from a walk in the woods and wanted to go for a drink before heading home, neither of us faniced the Dog and Duck (aka crown and greyhound) so I suggested Belair House but my other half said It'd probably be packed out due to it being Mothering Sunday. Which brings me the fact that on one of the posts here it shows they are advertising for an event on Mothering Sunday for end of May-which is the date its celebrated in Europe and the US I believe...odd. I'm saddened to learn its gone to **** It would be lovely if it was a nice cafe/bar not too fancy but with character.

@Jellybeanz Food poisioning can take 4 hours or so for the symptoms to become apparent. you mention and I quote "This incident was most defintely the ice-cream or the person serving it having dirty hands or gloves" I think that is a sweeping assumption again pointing blame at the cafe. Kids and adults can be violently sick out of the blue for any number of reasons..I've had situations where I have eaten the same as my partner prepared in our own home and then been sick once only-he was ok and after I'd been sick I felt fine. I feel you're very quick to point the finger at a local establishment frequented by many with a good hygene rating. To mention the other thread where you slated a local buisness because you and your child disliked their vegan hot chocolate (or something like that...)..It was'nt to you or your childs taste-fine don't blame the establishment. I'm fussy about coffee and matcha latte some places do coffee I enjoy and ditto Matcha latte-I would not post on a public forum that XXXX's matcha is rubbish because someone else may favour it. one mans meat is another mans poison as they say and my personal taste does not give me good reason to slate a local buisness (except in the case of a certain chain 'on the lordship' which is frankly all round pretty meh.

There are a great many bugs around at the moment.

I used to go to Dulwich Podiatry but did'nt think they were that good and very expensive I have been going to SE23 Podiatry for about 5 years really fantastic knowledgable team and fairly priced https://www.se23podiatry.co.uk/ the P4 bus stops opposite. I cannot reccomed them enough their head podiatrist even went in on a day when they were closed when I had a very sore toe

That is SO naff!! I never go there but still.... It almost makes me want to turn up dressed like 'Honey G' in full on shell suit look accesorised with a hard hat and a pair of paint spattered workboots just in order for this to 'sedate' 65year old to tell them they need to get a grip or move to Orpington when they tell me I'm not 'suitably attired' and therefore cannot enter their establishment.

@DiD yes I have same issue having been a member for 10 years the refurb ruined my enjoyment of the gym and felt much more geared towards a macho or more heavy lifting clientele. Also the large reduction in the number of Xtrainers and having to wait to get on a machine made me look into other options-the 38% rise is crazy-10% would be palatable but 38% for substandard quality machines and classes that are impossible to book is a joke. I'm 65 and I've opted for a Gym called Energie in Forest Hill near Sainsburys. What sold me was that it was inexpensive, clean, packed with decent equipment and the staff are really helpful and give a good induction and are on hand to help if help is needed. Its not luxury I dont like the grey interior but having tried it with a neighbour a couple of times decided to join. The clientele is very mixed and I've seen quite a few older women (older than me!) training there. I would'nt classify it as a 'gym suitable for older women' but its definately very inclusive and I got no hard sell from them which I felt I got in Fit for.

@Sue You are Correct about the 12 going to Notting Hill-In fact in Ran through to Shepherds Bush. I used to get the 12 bus from Bayswater Road/Lancaster Gate to my college in Shepherds bush when I started college there in 1977. @jazzer We've lived in this area for 14 years and the 176 had already stopped running to Oxford Circus when we moved here. @Penguin68 I totally agree- added to which due to the long gaps between busses there are often no seats available when one does turn up.
