  7. Did anyone see Anita Roddicks daughter tonight at City Hall Park at The Thames festival ? basically, she hijacked a band to come on and say (sounding drug induced as was rambling madly, infront of children i might add) that 1. there is a world conspiracy going on to destroy the world. 2. F***ki**g this same that 3.My mums anita Roddick 4. people in london dont need so much money, they need to give it alaway to those who need it more 5. my mum gave hers all to charity 6. i had dinner this week with prince charles, so you have to stop the poverty (?????) 7. more swearing 8. the world is a conspiracy and the only safe places are known by those in on the consipracy. Newzealand is a safe place.(???) 9. Ive been to the nile and seen the poverty, give them money. (????) (all in rant/scream mode on stage infront of festival goers inc many childern) Urgggh. (great festival otherwise (& bermondsey street has really livened up recently too)
  8. ??? -strongly agree, i was just making the point a ?100 rise in mortage payment at this time should be seen as a blessing.
  9. yeah, went thursday, great cocktails & strong too!. 3 for 2 deal O.K. if central london prices. Strangely liking the raised seating on the side.. on balance, great place, great addition. Staff friendly. perhaps theres too much choice on the cocktail menu?? - it took me aaaaaaaaaages to decide - then the barmans recommendation was great! (passionfruit cocktail) i think some of the above posts are over critical. Some intersting points tho, consider this: raised tables so people dont feel like they dont have a seat when they are forced to stand. No beer on tap but the original and great peroni in bottles. Long cocktail menu but staff to guide you through it. Clean and tasetefully (but clearly on a changing rooms budget) decor. Not too rammed, but id hate to be there when it is. Pricey cocktails at the weekends but then no more than if you asked for something on that menu elsewhere.m Is there really any need to question potential customers on the door 9re above post) - i h.a.t.e that (unless they are clearly kids). I shall return i think as its a welcome contrast to the rest of ED. p.s., if relevant - there were more ladies than men thursday night.
  10. er, yeah, Asset, try paying 7.5% (was 5.09)on 90% mortgage following Northern Rocks bad management issue. Thats going against you... i wish it was just ?100/month more(!!!) hmmm

"Newzealand Rocks" ... (very funny, and odd at the same time! Watch it, youldd be left confused and amused!
  12. Saturday Mornings would b good. (11 ish tho) ? & is it in ED?
  13. Hi CD, TO CLARIFY: hd= 720P not 1080p 1080p = full HD. (standard def is about 480i) you can get HD from sky or cable in 1080i/720p you can only get full hd from blu ray disc (1080p). upscaling helps a little as it "guesses to fill in the gaps", but in fast moving scenes it cant guess as fast as the image changes and thus definition reverts to that of the transmission hence my comment the definition cant get better. this forum is a minefield ..
  14. Hi CT, cable is broadcast at a lower definition than the 400-odd lines of standard definition. it is at ;least 4 times less definition than hi-def and is very poor (i know as in ed reception via aerial ive had to resort to it myself). Id say upgrade and get high def cable, or better, -get any other tv signal possible!. if you can wait you can get HD freeview in 2012. cable is SH*** and should have stayed in the 80's. (unless u upgrade to HD and get free broadband etc in the deal) your definition cannot get any better as the picture is broadcast over such a low bandwidth it will never look good no matter what tv you use (try putting diesel in a ferrari..)(sorry) Will
  15. well, all the above may be thought, but waterstones just upped their order by 10x so someones lovin' it..
  16. People Everyday - arrested development (...how credit crunch topical!)
  17. GLUG GLUG GLUG Im sure i just saw a fox in the Quiet room garden!
  18. oh dear oh dear. Having just launched the EReader on to our high streets on Thursday i feel slightly responsible for the above concern. I dont know if Jah Lush will play song game with me after this as his post is the exact opposite of everything i spend all day doing!!!. anyway..., the e reader is great, if you love reading. Its just like the ipod if you love music, and lots of it. There have been ereaders in the states for a while (theyve sold 100,000) and the sony isnt the first attempt at such a device (see 2001). its hard to explain the device unless you get to touch and see it, as its not a tv screen on a piece of metal, its a page on an easy to view medium. Its concieved to be easier to read than a printed book, and isnt like reading off a conventional screen at all. Id say go into HMV oxford st or waterstones next week and check one out in the flesh. ps , with the 100 free books its actually really a good deal, and for those that want physical copies there will be some promotions coming where if you buy the ebook, you also get the physical copy free... everyones happy hmmm *goes to Quiet room for a stiff drink*
