  1. Betfair has the twins as favourites at 2 and Brian next at 6.8. Surely not. Who would vote for the twins? I have backed Brian. Fingers crossed.
  2. Here is a copy of the planning link (thanks Regeneguru, SE5 forumite extraordinaire). Apparently it's undecided. Planning information for application 07-AP-1308 Application Number: 07-AP-1308 Planning Case File Number: TP/2123-A Application Type: Full Planning Permission Ward: South Camberwell Community Council: Camberwell Location: FORMER IVANHOE PH, 26-28 IVANHOE ROAD, LONDON, SE5 8DH Proposal: Remodelling of existing public house, manager's, chef's and landlord's flats at the first and second floor to form 4 self contained flats (2 x 2 bed and 2 x 1 bed). 1 storey extension to existing ground floor flat roof to Malfort Road elevation. Stanway Stanway Little Associates The Studios 72 Ruskin Walk London Sounds like the flats are just above and to the side - is that right? If so they shouldn't cause the closure of the pub so good luck to them then - they will be rolling in it!
  3. Don't think so but I don't really know. I was hoping that by starting this thread someone would say 'I did it last year' and then give us the full low down. I get the impression you just turn up but when there are loads of takers then you get some pretty big queues. Perhaps someone who doesn't have a debilitating speech impediment would be willing to ring up and find out for me? Anyone?
  4. Don't be put off by the expense! There are cheaper places to live near by or you can stay at the William Booth College for as little as ?30 per night. I think that's cheap enough to be comparable to a Travelodge.
  5. I am planning to go the WB College to check out the view, pop in to Odie and Amanda to buy some fine ladies clothes for my domestic partner and then have dim sum starters in Buddha Jazz followed by a long beery lunch in The George Canning. All within a stonesthrow of Denmark Hill station offering regular services to Blackfriars, London Bridge and Victoria. Great part of the world I'm sure you'd agree.
  6. Sounds ominous. 'I'm running a pub, I hope it goes well, but fear not I've put in a planning application to turn it into flats so I'm onto a winner either way...' Surely not.
  7. As this has been delounged I think it might me worth reiterating that WBC is open to the public on Saturday 14th September as part of Open House Weekend and that it is usually possible to climb to the top of the tower and witness unparalleled views of London.
  8. Polly, Please will you ask about the Tapas Bar when you are there and report back here? Thanks. PS Seems this thread was lounged a bit quickly having been in the East D zone since 30th June.
  9. Why were the William Booth College thread and the Church Street Hotel thread lounged so quickly? If it's because they are both in Camberwell then please can you lounge this thread too?
  10. I read on the SE5 forum that there has been a planning application for flats above the pub. Can anyone confirm or deny this? Piano night sounds great. Might see you all there!
  11. Sounds like it's going to be pretty busy. I hear there's no lift. That's what it needs. A huge lift up to an expensive revolving restaurant. That would put Camberwell right on London's tourist's map. What are the chances?
  12. Quite agree. They should put a glass fronted revolving restaurant up there. I'm sure the profits would keep the brass band in new uniforms for a very long time... Or perhaps they could use the funds to spread the word of God to vulnerable poor people..
  13. Doubt it. Why not ask? If you have any questions or to request a booking form, please email [email protected] or telephone 020 7326 2744.
  14. As previously discussed elsewhere there is budget accommodation available at the Salvation Army place near Denmark Hill Train Station. Here is a link: http://www1.salvationarmy.org.uk/uki/www_uki.nsf/vw-sublinks/A4E872A1A4B5FA8C8025704300378202?openDocument Has anyone stayed there or had friends/relatives stay there? If so a review would be appreciated. Open house weekend (http://www.openhouse.org.uk/london/home.html) is coming up and I believe it is usually possible to climb to the top of the tower- best views in London apparently. Sat 15th September 2pm-4.30pm. Entry to Tower 2pm-4.30pm. Talk on building in Assembly Hall 2pm, 3pm, 4pm.
  15. I posted on the alternative forum but they have barred mentions of this forum. Hypocrites.
  16. Why is a hotel and airport car parking company also the authority for London postcodes? Is it because they are on the internet? Still at least they seem to think SE5 means Camberwell.
  17. SE5 (Champion Hill but not Camberwell)?
