Hi My nearly 2 year old has been difficult going down for the past 4 or 5 months since he moved into a room with his older brother (who is a breeze). It's not that he is screaming & hysterical, just that he doesn't seem tired and is rather chatty. I think you could say he resists sleep and it was taking an hour to hour and half for him to drop off. Over the past month i've tried reducing his nap time from 2hours to about 1.5, which didn't have a huge impact, however i then tried changing the nap time so that i put him down earlier (about 12.30) and get him up earlier (2) and this seems to have made a huge difference. I guess he is now properly tired when going to bed and drops off within 15 mins. I'm sure its more to do with the gap between when he wakes from his nap and when he goes to bed rather than the length of nap itself. Good luck Kate

My oldest went through a period of not accepting any medicine orally, which proved to be a nighmare. We tried so many different approaches & medicines but in the end gave up. If they don't want to take it they won't. Instead we went down the suppository route, although not very nice, it did give us piece of mind. You can buy them over the counter, but are really expensive, alternatively the doctors can prescribe them. It turned out to be just a phase for us as i'm sure it will be for you

Yet Another Crash on Barry Road - Underhill Road Junction
savage replied to trentk69's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I cross at those lights twice a day with my kids doing the school run. I feel sick to the stomach when looking at those pictures thinking what might have been if this accident happened during the week. Who knows when the worst will happen, but i'm sure it will. I was just driving down Barry Road going at about 20mph when i was overtaken on the zebra crossing at the junction with Goodrich, thankfully nobody was crossing! -
drops of help? (anyone know of this company/charity?)
savage replied to underhillroad's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Hi I live on Friern Road and also got one. It's not actually a flier but a charity bag in a plastic wrapper making it look more like a legitimate charity, but it actually doesn't claim to be one if you read the small print. However i do think this could be quite deceptive for those who do not examine it carefully. I agree take any items you want to donate to the charity shops to avoid usig these companies inadvertantly. Accident was on the junction of Underhill & Barry Road at about 3.15 this afternoon. No idea what happened I just saw a man in the road being looked after. Ambulance was on its way.

I cannot recommend Herve highly enough. For the past few months he has been coming to my home each week to teach my husband and I. We are really enjoying it and he makes it feel easy & it is fun. I feel as if we are making really good progress, but there is no pressure. He is also polite, charming and accomodating. Kate

Smiler Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Love my Bee but isn't going to work for 2 kids - > boo hoo! Smiler makes a good point. Knowing what I know now, if I had my time again I would go for a phil & teds, as I had to get one anyway after I had number 2! I would also have a maclaren for the car. -
Hi Have you tried Dulwich Physio on Crystal palace road? He works very long hours so perhaps you could go after hubby gets home or before he goes to work? I've been on a couple of occasions and found him to be very good, If you are interested he is based in the same building as the doctors surgery. Kate

Hi On the positive side it is very central to Lordship lane & close to bars, restaurants & station. On the negative side, parking can be a big problem as it's used by commuters & shoppers. Also parents dropping off the kids at Goosegreen school can cause a real problem with double/ inconsiderable parking.

car hire with child seats, advice please
savage replied to 180176's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Hi We hired a car in france last year, although it was from a smaller airport and they ran out of car seats, for our then baby. They left us high & dry to fend for ourselves i'm afraid. In the end we took a car seat for an older child and drove to a local hypermarket to by an infant seat, which we then billed the hire car company for (hertz). They were very apologetic but couldn't help us. I guess the reason i'm telling you this is they may say there won't be a problem, but our experience shows that they cannot guarentee that. They did seem to have enough seat for an older child (next stage up from infant), but i suppose it all depends on the demand at the time! My only advice would be to get in the queue at the airport as soon as you can at Bordeaux, to get priority! I'm sure you will be fine though -

Hi I went to a guy at the vale practice, which is on grove vale (can't remeber his name though, i think it might have been italian?) during my ivf a couple of years back. I got pregnant first time trying and now have a beautiful healthy baby boy. Good luck xx -
The suppository that sanne panne refers is called Alvedon and is recommended from aqe 1. It is very expensive, however it is available with prescription for free via your doctors. Hope this helps

Husband help needed -what would be a great gift - after birth?
savage replied to Rook's topic in The Family Room Discussion
what about a personal shopper? Hubby just treated me for our anniversary and it was the most perfect present, especially after giving birth and feeling like a dowdy mum. You can book packages at the big department stores (mine was at debenhams)but would suggest you book it for a few months to give some time to lose the baby weight. -
Hi What time are you putting her down, you could try making it later? I did this with my son and it worked. He finally dropped his nap just before he turned 3. Kate

James With all the information you now have, are you in a position to say if east dulwich will have the same problem for 2010 reception intake and to what extent?

Hi I'm not sure if you mean a big complex or prefer something more intimate. If it's the latter i can recommend the following family friendly gites in France. http://www.livingfrance.org/ We've been the past two years and have already booked up for next year (we also have a 3 year old and baby who was 4 months when we went in june this year). The owners Dorte & Richard are lovely and they offer homecooked food & babysitting as well as cots, highchairs etc. Kate

I have to disagree with you on your point, as Peckham Pulse used to emply two parking attendants that would direct drivers to the various pathways and other non designated spots and disabled bays. I used to think it was very odd but would follow there instructions and park where they said. So it was not down to people just abandoning there cars wherever, this actually was being dicatated by the Pulse themselves. At some point late last year the policy changed and a few signs were put up saying designated parking only. Also the parking attendants were no more. I was personally caught out the day of the change where i was unaware of the changes and as such didn't notice or look for any signs (why would i as i have been parking there in undesignated bays for months), i took my son to a soft play session and was back within 40 mins to find i'd been clamped. I would not have a problem with this if there had been some notification prior to the change. As such i have not used the Pulse nearly as much as I would have.
