I agree entirely with what Timster said. It's ridiculous. I think someone is abusing their power with bully boy tactics. It would seem a little too coincidental for my liking that no sooner Sainsburys moves in nearby that Val's has a visit from the council.
JR was paid the going rate at the time he was offered his contract. It's not his fault they offered him so much money. The Beeb obviously felt he was worth it. This being before the current recession when there was plenty of money about. I'm not saying he's worth it but I enjoy his programmes (mostly). Some people like him some don't. It's a matter of opinion. End of.

His wages are irrelevent when you take into account he has two popular TV shows and a radio show and all score high in the ratings. That makes him popular (though obviously not in your house) and not a non-entity. Non-entities don't get paid much. How much do you earn?

Hardly a non-entity when you have two TV shows that do very nicely in the ratings and you have a popular Saturday morning radio show and the BBC pay you ?6 million a year.
Oi! Jimmy Mac don't quote me no Bob Marley lyrics or call me an imposter. I've been skanking since I come out of the womb and I ain't no natty dread. Enjoy this.
