Court Lane Gardens - stupid driving
seenbeen replied to HelBel65's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
This type of thrill seeking driving is exactly why it is difficult for people to give up their cars. There is another example of this if you cut through from Lewisham High Street to Lee via Courthill Road, Morley Road, Dermody Road. There are speed humps in Dermody but drivers whizz round Wisteria Road to beat the traffic held up on the speed humps...it's ridiculous -

If they wanted to do something valuable they should make sure that ALL schools teach Diversity INCLUDING (now there's an apt word) LGBTQ+ issues especially since tolerance of differences is enshrined in UK Law. Some faith schools I know do not even discuss LGBTQ+ issues but do discuss disability, race equality etc but IGNORE LGBTQ+ and the kids are overtly homophobic at times...and are rarely reprimanded. LGBTQ+ are PEOPLE too and it's about time that tax-payer funded schools were MADE to introduce the differences in humanity to children- sensitively- from an EARLY age

the headline is very off-putting and reminds me of Diane Abbott

I have always voted Tory but the Labour Party Manifesto of 1959 included the Right To Buy your council home....they did not get in, but as we all know the policy was eventually adopted.... http://www.labour-party.org.uk/manifestos/1959/1959-labour-manifesto.shtml

Brown bin collection - Council starting to charge?
seenbeen replied to slarti b's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
?30 a year is not much in the scheme of things. I wonder how many people will be tempted to concrete over their gardens on the strength of it? -

The dad probably thinks he's doing his bit...he's probably had a vasectomy!

Is there any more we can do about dog poo?

I challenged someone in the flower garden part of Ruskin Park once as his dog was running amok after squirrels and birds...he said 'he's only chasing squirrels'....says it all about the attitude. I live around the corner from a primary school and there was a deposit in the middle of the pavement ...needless to say it was everywhere by nightfall -

Dulwich Village Junction - Tailbacks up Woodwarde Rd?

You say they 'have to give way'- yes they are SUPPOSED to give way coming from Court Lane but this morning I was coming from Calton Ave. to turn right and an idiot in a car pulled right across me from Court lane, blatantly ignoring the Give Way.. and I was stuck in the yellow box.... -
should've given them a tenner to come and 'do' the cabs on crystal palace road

Fair point- but I never remember in the cold light of day.....(I will refrain from pointing out that sarcasm is the lowest form of wit!)

The lights were on in the school at night, all night, throughout the whole of the Christmas Holidays and, over the past weekend, the lights were on and some windows were open- so our council tax money is being spent 'wisely'- it looks like a case or two of 'the lights are on but there is no-one home'

A full time student I know 'purchased' a travel card for over ?200 last week to begin this Monday just gone. She got on a bus and the Oyster did not update so she had to pay her fares all day. She took the receipt for the travel card with her on Tuesday and was allowed through and TFL told her she had to purchase ANOTHER travel card and claim the first one back...and whomever she spoke to said 'it's happening all the time'...this has to be some kind of Kafka-esque joke!
