  1. Start a name and shame thread?
  2. Several points in the OP are making me want to visit the rage thread but I'm going to restrain myself.
  3. What's stopping you?
  4. Same with a lot of supermarket fruit. I bought a melon over a fortnight ago that's still sitting on the kitchen windowsill rock hard and smelling of nothing in particular. Bet it gets a soft spot before it's ripe enough to eat at this rate. Never mind the avocados. A mixed salad has a two-week leadtime.
  5. ...bought knickers with a view to anything other than comfort and a slightly flatter stomach.
  6. ...knew what was number one.
  7. I think the OP is right as when I cycled through the park I was going clockwise and it was on my left when I was on the Court Lane side. Not sure it was jazz though.
  8. Why single out joggers? Anyone who spits.
  9. How far from St Kilda to the nearest Waitrose?
  10. > Yeah, now that is the sort of argument the Gruin > writers employ that really annoys me and b) > infantilises women. It implies women cannot take > responsibility for their own actions because, when > women do something bad, it is still that big ol' > patriarchy's fault. > I was making a more general point - you could apply it to other groups for which a prevailing ideology sets an apparently definitive characteristic. Ain't no such thing as patriarchy, by the way. It's just an abstract noun that refers to all the stuff men do to protect their own interests.
  11. This is inner London now? Isn't the point of the suburbs that they're not? Or they'd be urbs. Possibly.

Not really. According to the politics of oppression, if you can get a group to police themselves you can sit back and enjoy the pay-offs, rewarding them for compliance and if they complain blaming them for oppressing themselves.
  13. When would be best to go to avoid midges? My legs are covered in bites and I haven't left Dulwich.
  14. What are the ingredients?
  15. There's a lot to be said for being able to sleep in your own bed, not having to go through an airport and not having to pack. If you have a car I think day trips could be a good alternative. How far have you managed to get in a day?
  16. What does this have to do with ED issues? Other than the Guardian-Daily Mail kneejerk responses which do seem to be a local characteristic, often within the same person.
  17. I haven't had a proper holiday in ages but it's not really by choice, usually either no time or no money. I'm better when I have someone to go with but struggle when it's just me. I did try the Companions to Travel website once but I got fed up of being contacted by men who weren't planning to tell their wives they were going away... Hoping to sort myself out with a proper trip later this year though.
  18. Louisa, I'm trying to plan something similar though hadn't got as far as deciding which islands to visit. Would love to hear your final itinerary in case it gives me ideas!
  19. Pollen. The onset of hayfever season puts me off gardening and now suddenly the garden looks like it's exploded.
  20. I think you've hit on a potentially huge merchandising opportunity there, Otta. The series could include Hipster Boy - full-nappy-fit skinny jeans, checked shirt with no room for arm movement, MR Whippy haircut, Buddy Holly glasses. Work-from-home Man - laptop, skinny latte, don't-ask-me-to-share-this-table glare.
  21. There was another before that. This is the third in as many weeks.
