  1. It might stand a better chance if it was in the About the Forum section where there's a thread for questions to Admin.
  2. Didn't the letter say the Bishop is going to St John's this Sunday to speak with the congregation? Perhaps it would be best to tell him how you feel in person before publishing it on social media.
  3. Whereabouts are you?
  4. Gawd bless you, sonny, and bless the house of Lancome too. 5. I was an adult in the 80s and that's certainly not how I remember attitudes in normal society, though I'm not familiar with the legal position then.
  6. Again with the caveat that we don't know the full story, there seem to be differences in the existing set-up that they're trying to equalise, so that doesn't seem to work either.
  7. Agreed - although I support their right to protest, while the consultation is going on the DPG isn't allowed to give full details so we're not in a position to judge. For what it's worth, it looks to me like some employees will be better off, but I sympathise with those who are feeling more vulnerable right now.
  8. I heard recently something like if they send a short train they don't have to include it in the stats on punctuality, so at the reporting level it makes the service look better. Does anyone know if that's true?
  9. Don't know if you've read the statements from the DPG, SJ, but I understood they're trying to take people OFF zero hours contracts and pay the LLW. It certainly wasn't my intention to mock anyone on low wages, more that the choice I usually have is work long hours or no work at all.
  10. Indeed it does.
  11. Have any other forum members ever had their own dedicated thread? I seem to remember a female-dominated HonaloochieB fanclub but not sure if this is a regular occurrence.
  12. Was your previous post a roundabout admission of inappropriate thoughts then?
  13. I'm afraid that after repeated complaints having absolutely no effect over the last couple of years of increasingly appalling service, some of us have given up. Complaining increases your stress and makes you even later for work, and eventually you realise they're never going to respond. The complaints process and the meet-the-perpetrator events are just placebos at best. Personally I feel they'd completely cynical and genuinely contemptuous of those who use the service.
  14. If you read the article, women - as with all violent crimes - are a tiny minority. Personally when I see a good-looking young guy in low-slung jeans I just think he's got a full nappy.
  15. Worth keeping things in perspective, certainly. The one about overtime at short notice cutting into planned leisure activities did it for me. Hello...
  16. Looks like someone's mixed up two press releases, that one.
  17. Hold on - what about George Osborne? Or Stephen Fry? Or Russell Brand?

  19. There's an interesting article on the BBC website today. It says that 1-2% of men are believed to be paedophiles, yet 10% of men at some time in their lives have sexual feelings about children. Not sure if child is defined as 16 and under - I'm sure there are plenty of men who have some kind of passing sexual response on occasion looking at younger teenagers but recognise it for what it is and don't act on it. http://m.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-31114106
  20. Are late-fortysomethings allowed to respond too?
  21. The woman who stepped off the pavement into the path of my bike and said rather accusingly 'no lights'. A bit harsh considering I had four, two at the front and two at the back, even if the battery on the main front one was wearing down. She'd stand a better change of seeing them if she actually looked.
  22. I see Dry January's over.
  23. That photo is so wrong.
  24. Really? Wasn't it you who posted more than one other new thread on the same topic recently? I assumed you were directly involved.
  25. I've never met Dulwich Fox in person but in the forum I admire the way he manages to conduct himself with dignity even when the Lounge hounds (NB extended metaphor not a personal criticism of clique members past or present) are snapping at him.
