  1. You want more info? Just heard a piece in the World Service Science in Action prog, about an all-electric m/c; 11kWh battery capacity, 184 bhp, from memory (might be wrong) -- it's said to have the power/weight ratio of a petrol-driven 600cc bike -- that got third place in a time trial or summat at a California track.
  2. The Supporters' Trust newsletter was actually right. If you look at the Order Info link on the CH DHPD page, it shows the dissolution on 24/11/09, but then an April 2010 application for restoration.

Was amused to read of the barrister who took his argument, that a m/c wasn't parked if its wheels weren't touching the ground, all the way to the Court of Appeal in 1997, and ended up having to pay off a hundred tickets. >> and can't be arsed to check. No worry. First post of the day: pro bono. :)
  4. I wouldn't be surprised if there was also a copy-cat or group membership element to these mini-spates, with kids following on from, or trying to keep up with, each other.
  5. Offering to cut a hedge for reward isn't a criminal offence, nor in itself necessarily suspicious.
  6. >..a EDF iphone app?? What would this notional app actually do?
  7. I find the pictures of that bl*y dog a real turn-off, so much so that I normally avoid all your threads. Which is probably as it's meant to be and for the best.

Sofia, when you have the time, get to a viewing room and watch some Horizons from twenty, thirty, forty years ago. Better still, rebroadcast a few.

Just saying. Adding http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20061107145607AAuN9u5 or http://www.roebuckclasses.com/people/thinkers/hobbes.htm or even http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=Human+beings+are+physical+objects%2C+according+to+Hobbes is scarcely laborious.
  10. >There is another older sister whose name slips my mind for the moment. Sara?
  11. Just to mention in passing that Archive CD Books is having an online half-price sale until Sunday. Their stock includes some London directories and maps, including a CD of London maps through the ages. There's a rundown of its contents here., though I don't know anything of their quality or how commonly available they are. There's a fair bit of other interesting stuff too, as well as specifically genealogical items.
  12. >OK, fair enough. I didn't realise it was supposed to be satirical. I doubt that most of the people I've seen quoting it did.

  15. Went into the Mind shop this afternoon, and what was playing on the radio? "And if this world starts getting you down There's room enough for two Up on the roof"
  16. With ADSL, no more so than usual.
  17. There is another photograph here. She is described as 5'3", medium build.
  18. Have you considered the possibility that it might be the perfume in your 'deodorant' that's the problem?

It's also apparently a return to DAB for them: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=801094
  20. Fireworks used to be fun, when you could buy them as an eight-year old, and they were cheapish. You could even get penny bangers. I'm surprised at the pangs of nostalgia from just looking at the photos on http://www.pyrosociety.org.uk/forum/topic/3073-jumping-jacks/.
  21. I see that the revamped Southwark site now has an old maps page which includes this one.
  22. All that's said about it in the 35-page paper is:

If so, well done, like your thinking. A succinct 404 might do nicely. Sorry for the gltch, I should have checked: the b*rs are presumably checking the Referrer. Not, I'm sure, that you really need any reminder of the cross-section, but for those who may: http://www.smartimagebase.com/penis-cross-section/view-item?ItemID=6621
  25. Planar views are more up-market: try practising with one like this.
