  1. https://dulwichparkfriends.org.uk/the-park/map-of-the-park/ for a map showing the path, plus some contacts, plus mention of Friends' "Tend the park" sessions. I've used that path myself for jogging occasionally. I hadn't known anyone had designated it as such, and I see no reason why walkers shouldn't use it as well. IIRC it's just the bits in the south half of the park that are narrow and like a woodland path; nicely reminiscent in a small way of cross-country runs on Wimbledon Common. The Dog Exercise area shown on the map seems to me, though I don't remember clearly, more like an open area, nothing to do with the path.
  2. When I watch the clouds from my window they quite often appear like very slow-moving lines of vehicles on a multi-lane highway, gradually edging forward. So I was rather doubtful when I just now saw them creep forward a very small amount, pause a short while, and then make a small reverse, more or less back to the point they'd advanced from. Another pause, and then the same repeated. And again and again. More perhaps like a small moored boat, being blown by the wind. I don't at this moment remember seeing anything quite like that before, at least for it to seem so memorable, though possibly i have, and forgotten. I doubt it's peculiar to Dulwich, but Dulwich is where I happen to be, and it is nature. So hello clouds.
  3. According to https://www.daiduefratelli.co.uk/ they're only open at lunchtime from Friday to Sunday. I didn't see any mention of takeaways. I daresay they'll be happy to hear any suggestions or queries.
  4. Noted. I wasn't quite sure from their material whether the 'ad lib' supply by pharmacists had to be mandated; hence the suggestion to check. There are plenty of individual manufacturers of generic methylphenidate, probably quite a bit cheaper too. I'm afraid I didn't see radnrach's "can't really take an alternative", so apologies for presuming otherwise. For myself I'm generally willing to trust that any manufacturer's offering of, say, 27 mg methylphenidate hydrochloride tabs, would contain that, and I'm not too worried about the minor quirks of things like their slow-release technology. I think it's likely that the medicines Serious Shortage Protocol does definitely give pharmacists some degrees of freedom. But it's apparently not in operation here. See the Minister's recent reply to a written question: https://questions-statements.parliament.uk/written-questions/detail/2023-11-13/1660#. , which seems to approximate to: we can't apply the shortage protocol here because the drugs are in short supply.
  5. I see that in Nottinghamshire the local NHS Area Prescribing Committee is recommending that prescriptions should be for generic methylphenidate, giving their pharmacists the option of supplying any brand (or presumably a generic product). https://www.nottsapc.nhs.uk/media/bw5df5pu/methylphenidate-pil.pdf It might be worth checking with your local pharmacist(s) to see whether this will help them if, as I suppose would be necessary, your GP issues a replacement prescription. I'll have a look around our local NHS websites now, to see if I can find anything there. Nottingham, btw, provide more information, nominally for clinicians, at https://www.nottsapc.nhs.uk/media/vwxjkaxa/adhd-medicines-supply-advice.pdf. And at https://www.nottsapc.nhs.uk/adhd-shortages/.
  6. Some data can be found at https://www.waitrose.com/ecom/products/clarence-court-ostrich-egg/686174-97457-97458 . Approaching 2 kg and 50 minutes soft boiled.
  7. I came across this yesterday in the FAQ on the Nectar help page, which might be helpful for anyone shopping there while the system's down. If the service is down, will I still receive my discounted Your Nectar Price? Answer If Your Nectar Prices is unavailable, continue to shop as usual. We will identify where you have missed out on a discount and issue you a cash refund voucher via the Nectar app for use on a future purchase by the same shopping method as the original transaction. To redeem the voucher instore, simply swipe the voucher at the till when you checkout. To redeem the voucher online, find the voucher in your online coupon wallet and apply it at the checkout.
  8. There is a physiotherapy service advertised there, though I suppose it might be just a consulting room. Someone earlier asked about what departments were available in the TJ health centre. I got this list in mid-March but forgot to upload it, so thanks for the reminder. It's copied from the signboard inside the entrance. 1st flooor: Community Health Services, GP Services, Physiotherapy, Ground Floor: Renal Dialysis Unit, Diagnostics & Blood Tests, Children's Services, Group Rooms, Outpatients, Day Lewis Pharmacy [Is there any way one can attach photo files here without their being displayed?]
  9. It's advertising the Harris Primary Summer Fair. Perhaps a parent with a similar address to yours has asked for one.
  10. And the transcript's at https://hansard.parliament.uk/Commons/2024-05-22/debates/A0B7989C-F3E8-40D6-996A-97A464AAECF3/Crash-For-CashInsuranceFraud
  11. That's good to hear. Is the doctor one of the TJGPS team (as on https://www.tessajowellgpsurgery.co.uk/team/), or a locum or with EPCS?
  12. There have been at least two or three threads on the topic in the last couple of years. I'm afraid they'll all confirm that you assumed wrongly. I remember looking into it myself and finding nothing to assist anyone who made the same assumption. While recently having a look through the Townley Road appeals decided in 2023, I came across this determination that also clearly spells it out. 31/3/23 Reasons Mr X appeals against two Penalty Charge Notices. He argues that they have only been issued in order to make money for the council. Mr X states that the restrictions were introduced to make it safe for school students in the morning and afternoon and that as both 26th December 2022 and 2nd January 2023 were public holidays there was no purpose in enforcing the restriction. The appellant states that he was driving to collect an elderly relative. Townley Road is a route that is for buses, cycles and taxis only Monday to Friday 8-9am and 3-4.30pm. The restriction is in operation every Monday to Friday whether or not schools are on holiday or if it is a bank or public holiday. There was no indication on the sign that the prohibition was not being enforced on either Monday 26th December or Monday 2nd January. I have seen the CCTV footage in relation to each contravention. I have also seen photographs of the signs and camera car footage that show the signs and warning signs. I find that the signs are clear and that there is sufficient warning of the restriction to enable a driver to take an alternative route. I find that each contravention occurred. I refuse both appeals.
  13. There appear to be exemptions from some 'Streetspace' provisions potentially available to blue badge holders: see https://www.southwark.gov.uk/parking/disabled-parking/parking-with-a-blue-badge?chapter=2.
  14. Are there no home CCTVs that may have acquired an image?

  16. It eventually arrived this morning, accompanied by two bank letters dated 17 and 18 April.
  17. For a direct bus route, there's Aldi, Lidl and Tesco on adjacent stops on Rushey Green, Catford -- about 30 minutes on the 185 from ED Grove. And ED to Catford by train can be done in a quarter hour if you pick the right times.
  18. Back, regrettably, to the Private Eye benchmark test. Have folk expecting the issue that would normally have been delivered on Wednesday the 24th received theirs yet, and if so, when?
  19. The compost bin, unlike the brown one, won't be the council's. They sell them: currently £10 + delivery charge. Which isn't to say, assuming it was one of theirs, that they mightn't be interested in having back a used one for nothing if asked.
  20. https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/search/?q=ex-offenders&quick=1&type=forums_topic&nodes=3 is probably a good start.
  21. The YaY programme is at https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m001xvgy. Shari Vahl in the first third of the programme goes through the cold calling lying phone attempts that were made to try to get her in effect to move her O2 contract to them, and her investigative follow-ups. The callers apparently had extensive detailed information of her dealings with O2. They appear to be a third party call centre who have a referral contract with Plan.com. Plan.com are aware of the allegations, as are Ofcom. YaY say they're interested to have emails from people who have received similar cold calls. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/articles/1YnZrF9w7xR82St8d7Pgc6x/contact-you-yours
  22. The TJ Health Centre houses: (1) TJGPS (2) the Extended Primary Care Service (EPCS) (3) SELDOC (8pm-8am GP service). I think NHS Direct 111 can most likely try to arrange appointments with or direct callers to any of these primary care services if they see a pressing need. [BUT SEE NOTE 1 BELOW] EPCS exists to provide all the South Southwark GP practices with daytime backup and other services as needed. See https://www.ihlsouthwark.co.uk/. They're not TJGP locums. The EPCS has the same waiting area as TJGP, though apparently different receptionists and channels. The last two times I requested a TJGP appointment via AskMyGP I was given a return phone call from TJGP, offering an appointment with an EPCS clinician. For one of these I had to see a receptionist on the left hand side of their area to report in, and then one in the bit facing forward to get a blood test form from TJGP. When I checked a couple of weeks ago, there was at least a handwritten sign directing people from any other practice to the LH side. [NOTE 1, ADDED 24/6/24]: I was basing that on what I believe I read in a couple of posts here. https://www.nhs.uk/nhs-services/urgent-and-emergency-care-services/when-to-use-111/how-nhs-111-online-works/ do however say: "We cannot make an appointment with your GP for you." Possibly it's happened occasionally and exceptionally, I really don't know, but it seems clearly not something that should be assumed to be so. They do however make mention of referrals to other GP services in urgent cases. I've no personal knowledge of using 111 by phone or online myself.
  23. If you're doing it for family tree research, Peter Calver of LostCousins strongly recommends Ancestry as the most useful one -- a larger database, and, particularly, its useful software tools for getting at the information therein. https://www.lostcousins.com/newsletters2/jun23news.htm#Masterclass
  24. I noticed this announcement en passant while doing various searches on the libraries website. When I eventually went back to make a proper note, I couldn't find it. Eventually discovered it in the middle of the catalogue basic search page, and thought it well to post it here too. Easter opening hours All libraries will be closed on the following days: Friday 29 March 2024 Sunday 31 March 2024 Monday 1 April 2024

  25. You can search https://www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk/ and often see enough OCR of articles found to get a good idea of whether they contain something of interest, though to see them in full a subscription is needed. I found several that definitely were when searching for 'Joseph Tall' but don't have a current subscription.
