Tescos grocery delivery - rubbish
supergolden88 replied to Fuschia's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I have to say that after using Tesco for over two years I have very few complaints. They call if they are running late/early and have never missed a delivery. I used to use Ocado but Tesco is much cheaper (with a bit of savvy shopping) and the quality of products is usually very good. Much as I would like to continue using Ocado once I went on one of those supermarket comparison websites I could not justify spending around ?25 more for same shop I will try Sainsburys this week I think as I have a voucher somewhere -
Did a cervical sweep work for you?
supergolden88 replied to KateW's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Worked for me first time around and within 30mins but I was already 3cm by having contractions the night before which eventually stopped. I have one booked for 40+5wks on Weds but kind of hope baby will come of his own accord before then -
question about steriliser and bottle
supergolden88 replied to Oddiegirl3's topic in The Family Room Discussion
you can use different brand sterisers/bottles but I think the Tommeee Tippee bottles are quite wide. Have you seen the offers for TT products on Mothercare website? There's offers on TT sterilisers and bundle offers http://www.mothercare.com/feeding-offers-clearance/b/59457031?extid=offpg_feeding -
Went to Kings this morning at 9am. Eventually had scan at MAU after midwife there grumbled (a lot!) about there being no reason at all for me to be scanned according to my notes. But when she scanned me she said baby was head down but lying to the side so there was concern for chord prolapse - and so she send me for an urgent proper ultrasound in Suite 9. I waited at least an hour and a half getting more anxious by the minute (was on my own). Finally when I was practically in tears at reception they called me in. Had scan and according to their findings baby is head down and all is ok. Phew! Nearly fainted on scanning bed from stress and lack of food. By the way, I got a lot of conflicting info at Kings. People at scanning room said no need to book postdates appointment - lady at MAU said "of course you need to book!". So if your midwife has not booked a postdates appointment for you (and mine did not) take the initiative and book one - usually at 40+5 wks

The only way I could fit it in when working was to join a gym near work and do 45mins during lunch. Exercising at home while my daughter is around only resulted in her joining me and usually lying under me while I tried to do yoga/pilates. The 10 minute solution DVDs are very good though and split into ten minute segments so easy (!) to fit in if you have a few minutes to spare. Good luck sounds like you are doing amazingly well

Just saw midwife today (my last appointment as I am due this friday). She did usual checks and said baby was head down though not engaged - this was the case with my daughter four years ago. She did not descend until my waters were broken prior to pushing. The midwife is sending me to have an ultrasound scan this week to check presentation and size. She said it was just for peace of mind as I mentioned I could feel baby moving a lot and was concerned with position. But I think it's a bit weird - if I get this scan within next five days it will practically be on my due date and if I go past due date would likely be given a scan at post dates clinic. Am I being paranoid? Has anyone else been sent for such late scan? Also I seem to have nitrites present in urine which could signify UTI although I haven't had obvious symptoms - again by the time they do a culture I could be in labour. Should I be going to Seldoc/ED hospital today to get the ball rolling on this?

Autumn babies club - due dates
supergolden88 replied to supergolden88's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Congratulations and my gosh that sounds scary! You sound as if you did it all by yourself and without pain relief which is pretty incredible. I am due in 10 days and hoping for no surprises or early arrivals! -

Is this constant fatigue normal?
supergolden88 replied to mrs f's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Go and get a blood test you could be anaemic. I have been found anaemic on both recent and older blood tests and been given iron tablets and told to watch my diet. That could be a reason although I find you do tend to have stretches of feeling really exhausted while pregnant and then sometimes feeling really energetic... -
I found some bottles of clary sage, roman chamomile and rose oils which I got when I was pregnant four years ago. I think they are all meant to be used during childbirth but not sure how or why! I am doing some googling but getting slightly conflicting information. If anyone has any clue whether they are helpful (or not) please let me know

I did have the Inoa colour - wonder if that is any different to normal ammonia colourants? I may try to read up on it. I think the problem is last time I went there I had the top colourist and he seemed very capable and did exactly what I asked. This time I had the junior/first lever colourist who just put the colour as it was on my hair - that is she did not adjust it in any way. I will give it till Monday and if I still hate it after a couple of washes etc I shall go back. -
Went and had a colour and cut at Willis B yesterday as a last treat before baby (due in two weeks). I decided to cover my outgrown highlights with an overall colour and on the advice of the colourist chose the one that was closest to my natural colour (dark brown) to avoid regrowth etc. The new colour is very glossy and healthy looking but so very dark it is almost black. In no way is it close to my natural colour which is more chesnutty brown. In short I quite hate it! What are my options do you think? Call Willis B and ask them to correct it (and pay all over again)? I realise that in the grand scheme of things this should not top my worry priority list...

Did anyone on here have a baby on 10.10.10?
supergolden88 replied to The Nappy Lady's topic in The Family Room Discussion
My daughter is 6/06/06 - which I have to say I love -
I am due to have my second baby at the end of the month and naturally my nearly 4 1/2y daughter has been asking lots of questions... She really wants to know how babies get OUT of your belly (thankfully she has not asked how they get in there in the first place yet!). When she first asked me I flippantly said something like "they press the bellybutton and a door opens" which she accepted. But then I guess they talked about it at nursery because she told me "babies come out of your bottom!". I corrected her at the time using proper terminology but I guess that was either too advanced or did not stick because she is asking questions again. I was showing her pictures of how the baby develops in a pregnancy book but she really wanted to see the "baby coming out" photo! How much do I tell her at this point and how detailed should I be? I don't want to get her worried...

You have to try different brands and see what suits your baby. I found huggies better than pampers initially but then I used either brand. Also used eco/nature brands but some I found very stiff and hard. I did not get on with supermarket brands they tended to leak. I would say with the amount of offers that big stores have on it sometimes works out cheaper to buy brand names. But don't ovestock on one size especially early on as babies tend to outgrow nappy sizes seemingly overnight!

Oyster stroller - anyone used this?
supergolden88 replied to supergolden88's topic in The Family Room Discussion
many thanks for posting Which review I think they are introducing a newest model - Black pearl one - soon but it's not available for order yet. I must say I am torn because clearly the Bee has had overwhelmingly positive reviews from everyone on the forum -
Oyster stroller - anyone used this?
supergolden88 replied to supergolden88's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I wonder why it's so little known... I certainly had not heard of it or seen it before. Odd I will try to find some more reviews - even with many extras it's still loads cheaper than the Bee. If anyone has access to the Which review I would love to see it! -

The "pregnancy crazies"
supergolden88 replied to supergolden88's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Oh dear - no it's not my husband being a chauvinist - he says it affectionately/in exasperation. I really am being total cow at times! -
I thought I had heard of most strollers on the market and currently leaning towards the Bugaboo Bee but I just came accross this Oyster stroller it seems to have a lot of the features that I am after (which the Bee has as well) seat facing both ways, compact when folded etc but at a fraction of the Bee price. Has anyonse got this stroller? Would really appreciate feedback

My husband has his faults but mostly he is supportive, cooks and cleans and takes care of DD. But it takes very little to set me off. True he is unable to multitask - case in point the same meal will take me about 30mins to cook and it will be an hour for him. In any case, arghhhhhh!
