  1. I've never been able to take this chap seriously, as the name is also the alter ego of a mate of mine who uses it to wind up and strongly influence Those Who Must Be Obeyed. Which has on occasion led to situations of hand-on-knee by said TWMBO. I see the name and I just guffaw at the memory of those encounters. Now that's trolling in style.
  2. People who make appointments and then don't turn up, don't call, don't answer the phone, and (when you eventually get through to them) don't apologise. It used to be the Gas Board and the plumber, but now everyone is at it in the world of work. Particularly infuriating when there are six people waiting for the person who fails to show for an interview for which they will be paid; and another two rushing around trying to find a replacement. How difficult is it to pick up the phone?
  3. Do keep up Brendan. :)
  4. jrussel Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > > Someone said something about this being a 'private > forum open to the public'... you what!? Indeed, it is a privately-owned forum, and you have been extended the courtesy of being admitted to it by the owner. The owner expects those invited to his party at his house to behave respectfully and courteously while in his home and drinking his wine (even if some of it is from wine boxes). His Terms of Use are really very fair (compared to some), and his behaviour as host I can only describe as impeccable, far more generous and reasonable than that of one or two site owners not a million miles from ED (who would probably have murdered jrussel not long after birth).
  5. LOB The scene with the meeting about the Romans.

Fair use (US law) explicitly includes commercial use; fair dealing (UK law) does not. The English concept is of much, much narrower application than the US one, and is in my experience consequently next to useless. > > In defence of my use of the former term, I refer > to the example (there are others) of its use at > http://www.copyrightservice.co.uk/copyright/p09_fa > ir_use . Your defence is a good one. That is a crapola page. Paragraphs 1-5 are not discussing any particular country ("National laws typically allow...", "will be governed by national laws" etc. kind of give the game away), but they don't explicitly say this in either heading or intro. They should have labelled the material accordingly (instead of just labelling (6) as UK). Okay, rant over.

  8. I want the John Peel slot. This would allow me to play Flying Saucer Attack and all my other fave discs.

  10. Don't ask her along to drinks Sean: she's already pissed and it's only 1.17pm! B)
  11. This morning there is one bloke working in one of the pits, and another bloke who looks a bit inspector-ish - and unusually clean and shiny - watching him from above.
  12. I've often walked to Brixton. It's generally faster than trying to get a 37. A few months back I compared the times to Brixton Town Hall via 37 and via 185/176 to Camberwell and any bus to Brixton (via Coldharbour Lane). 37 always came out a lot slower.
  13. I get so fed up with so many bus stops being shut for so long, again and again.
  14. Easiest to cycle. For Stockwell, you could consider 185 to Camberwell New Rd/Oval, depending on where in Stockwell. Sounds mad but it could be faster.
  15. It was clear from the off that jrussel was a wind-up or a loon. The tree nonsense immediately gave the game way. Any sock puppets? I didn't bother following to find out. But trolls are always so much more fun when they introduce sock puppets. Perhaps jrussel is planning to approach the EDF admins and/or posters he/she plans to quote, as the Terms of Use of this forum state: "If you want to reproduce anything on this website outside of eastdulwichforum.co.uk you must first get permission from the individual message poster or the management" I'd also suggest jrussel's posts on this forum have been inaccurate and fraudulent (deception to obtain pecuniary advantage: he/she is getting paid for the result of the deception), both prohibited by the Terms of Use. :)) But who gives a t*ss. Over the last 13 years I've been involved in large international forums with notorious and hilarious trolls, some of whom are still being written - and argued - about 8-10 years later. This jrussel really is a tedious Johnny-come-lately in comparison. If this is a "big confession", perhaps he/she is in need of a life.
  16. We - while in a normal car - got harassed from behind by a 4x4 driver yesterday. They just steam through speed bump streets at 40mph. I quite like the idea of publishing the number plates of offending drivers/photos of offending vehicles.
  17. I was on Vodafone, but the signal was terrible. I'd always have to stand in the middle of the road, or the end of the garden to be able to speak to anyone. Changed to O2 for this reason, and problem over. I also had a Vodafone mobile dongle contract, but dumped it a few months ago owing to general uselessness of signal. I'm at southern end of ED, as the land rises towards Overhill.

  19. You'll find genuine Black Country pork scratchings at a number of pubs across Crystal Palace Triangle (Railway, Grape and Grain...). We sometimes decide on which pub to go to by presence/absence of same.
  20. By the way, they get into tupperware-style containers, plus they drill tiny holes into plastic and other packets. The best way to test if anything has been 'infected' is to squeeze any bags to see if the air seal has been broken by drilling (as you may not spot a tiny hole). They tend to lay their eggs on containers holding their favoured foods, such as in the folds of or seals of plastic packets.
  21. I think the phrase 'sewer collapse' is a misnomer. What has happened is that a) the sewer broke b) tonnes of shit and piss from the sewer gushed into the ground under the road, for an unknown period c) eventually the volume of piss and shit gushing out caused the material underlying the South Circular to be completely washed away d) resulting in the collapse of the road. Nice.
  22. Sounds likely, Hona. As always, Wikipedia is our friend. They were probably already in the cereal when you bought it. Seems like they are a major problem in warehouses etc.
  23. Don't forget the Gowlett.

And then I might have found myself walking along Dartmouth Road (dumped by a bus on diversion stopping at no stops) to find a bus; only to discover that the only bus running along Dartmouth Road was the 122 (197 and 176 both on diversion) And I might have found that, as with the 363, the only 122s were coming in full to the gunnels of Jamaicans heading to CPP Jamaica Day. And then I might have found myself walking all the way from half way up Kirkdale to the far side of Crystal Palace, loaded down with two heavy bags. Whilst recovering from illness. > > And I might have been a tad hacked off I spent 2.5 hours getting from ED to CP. It would have been far, far quicker to just walk and not try to get any type of public transport. My health was in recovery at the time, but immediately went back downhill again. > > But thankfully all of that was bypassed, because, > as I say, I did know about this already. Quite.
