Received this email today re the partial reopening of the pool. What I found a bit bizarre was the paragraph on 'pool hygiene', considering that on one of the last occasions I visited the pool, I witnessed a person, who later identified himself as the 'pool manager', dunking the changing room mats in the pool to rinse them after washing them poolside, leaving a deposit of grit etc on the pool steps. When I complained, he didn't think he'd done anything wrong. Maybe that's what messed up the pool filters!!! (No subject) (2).zip

I made the mistake last Autumn of having my Covid booster and Flu jab in the same arm at the same time. The pharmacist said it would be ok! During the night I felt really sick and got up and sat on the side of the bed. Next thing I knew, I was waking up on the floor. Frightened the life out of my husband! Took him a couple of hours to get me off of the floor and back into bed. Spent the next couple of days in bed recovering. I won't be making that mistake again!

Sue If you have PATIENT ACCESS, it shows under 'medications'. Mine was SPIKEVAX, which is Moderna, although I had mine in Lewisham

When meters were installed along our road, we were told by TW that we had a choice to change to the meter for a certain period, but after about a year, we HAD to change to the meter.
-
There are 2 of us in our house. A few weeks after we had a water meter installed and before we received our first bill, TW told us that we should be paying £70 per month to ensure we did not go into arrears. We refused to change our DD and carried on paying £40 per month. When we eventually received our first metered bill, our usage was only about £25 per month and we were, in fact well in credit! Also, only receiving a bill every 6 months is not very helpful, as we find it very difficult to keep tabs on what we are spending.

Looking good. My office used to be in the left hand block, in what once was Matron's quarters!

I remember Jones and Higgins in the 60s when I was a teenager. It seemed to me at the time to be a very upmarket department store. Rye Lane also has 2 C&As, M&S, British Home Stores, Woolworths, Dunn's hat shop, umpteen shoe shops and furniture stores. We brought our first 3 piece suite and bedroom suite in Williams furniture store in the late 60s when Rye Lane was a thriving shopping centre.

Should cyclists have the same speed restrictions as motor vehicles?
ctovey replied to tedfudge's topic in Roads & Transport
As someone who doesn't drive a car or ride a bike, I might be stating the obvious, but, if one of my loved ones was knocked down and killed/badly injured, either by a car OR a bike, they would still be dead/badly injured and I would be heartbroken. It wouldn't matter to me what had killed/injured them, the resultant heartbreak would be the same. -

GPs do it all the time! -
The P13 bus is currently on diversion between Sainsburys DKH and Peckham Rye station, going via Peckham Rye, in both directions. This is due to road works in Bellenden Road. The notices on the bus stops say 'until further notice' and the hole in the road at Choumert Road junction is substantial!

I have just seen that the pool has been closed temporarily 'due to an imbalance in PH levels'.

I asked at the desk for the manager and the girl went into the office and this guy came out and said he was the manager. Incidentally, he was the person who put the mats in the pool. He obviously thought there was no problem in what he did. In the past I've seen the attendants using a bucket to scoop water from the pool to clean the surrounding area, so it seems to be acceptable to contaminate the pool.
-
I intend to if I can find a link on the website to make a complaint. The guy shouldn't be a manager with his attitude!

Just back from a swim at Dulwich Leisure Centre. Whilst in the pool, we saw the lobby outside the family changing room being washed, The person doing the cleaning then washed the mats taken from the family changing room and then put them in the pool, laying them on the steps!!!. Not only was this dangerous - they were laid on the top step in such a way that they overlapped the step - when we got out there was a load of grit on the top step where they were taken out. When we got changed, I asked at the desk to speak to the manager. Guess who it was??? The guy who had been doing the cleaning!!!! I said I was actually complaining about what he had done with the mats ie, dumping them in the pool. His response - 'Did I dump them too aggressively for you?' When I said I thought it was unhygienic to put the mats in the pool , his response was that he had actually cleaned them, but had put them in the pool to remove the residual cleaning fluid!!!!! I don't know what's worse - having cleaning fluid dumped in the pool or the dirt! He also asked how I knew the dirt in the pool was from the mats??? Wonderful customer service! I won't be going back in a hurry!

If you book on line, it will tell you if it is a lane swim/ family swim/ mens/ladies session. If you book in person or by phone, you should ask for lane swim/ family swim etc. I have never seen babies / children in the lane sessions I have attended and I'm sure the lifeguards / other attendees would notice and raise it.
