Backgammon at the Magnolia was a success and everyone seemed to really enjoy it. SO there is a plan to do it again. Lots of people have PMed me to say can they come next time (as I'm away on work this time, half term etc.) and the folks that run the Magnolia are really keen to make it a regular, maybe with middle eastern food and other such tempting things. There was a really good mix of players, from experienced to complete beginners, and the ones with more experience turned out to be brilliant teachers. Even the bar staff ended up playing, so I think we now have a head of steam to run another one or even a regular night. I am thinking once a month... The food seems really tasty at the Mag, so you can have a snack and a drink or two while you play. Lovely.... memories of summer holidays for me... I will keep you posted on the date of the next one x to all gammoners charliecharlie only thing missing was the sand and sunshine http://pro.corbis.com/images/CSM107682.jpg?size=67&uid=%7BD1CCBAE9-0554-45C6-9A90-386D325FD1CE%7D

"if you feed it, it will grow" sounds trite, but very useful to have in the back of your mind when there are bad office politics/relations/and a whole load a whinging going on, or for that matter any negative stuff that you keep coming back to in your head and niggling away at. "if you feed it, it will grow" also for the good aspects of your life... and I don't mean your belly I think routes of the phase come from Buddhist philosophy... or so I was told http://fc50.deviantart.com/fs28/f/2008/128/a/c/The_Young_Buddhist_Monk_by_serhatdemiroglu.jpg -

"Loss of parking if a Zebra Crossing is installed outside Somerfields: on the day the Audit was carried ( a Saturday,) at least 2 of the cars, if not 3, were estate agent owned cars, hardly shoppers. not a big fan of Estate Agents taking up so many parking spaces, but 1. I guiess they do some shoping too (lunch, stuff for supper, cross over to Somerfield even) 2. There may not be so many of them in the near future and then other users can park (and shop)! http://www.telegraph.co.uk/telegraph/multimedia/archive/00445/news-graphics-2007-_445703a.jpg -

Only thing is, I seem to remember spotting this somewhere in ED, but where oh where was it????? http://th57.photobucket.com/albums/g207/doll_face1980/th_double-toilets.jpg off out now for a bit of Valentine's double-trouble

A really shy man goes into EDT on Valentine's Day and sees a beautiful girl called ****** sitting alone at the bar. After an hour of gathering up his courage he finally goes over to her and asks tentatively, "Um, would you mind if I brought you a drink?" She responds by yelling, at the top of her voice, "No, I won't sleep with you, you lying, pox ridden Lothario!" Everyone in the pub starts staring at them and the man, deeply embarrassed, scuttles back to his table, his confidence and hopes dashed to the ground. After a few minutes, the girl walks over to him and apologizes, "I'm really sorry if I embarrassed you just then. You see, I'm doing a degree in psychology and I'm analysing how people respond to embarrassing situations." At this the guy responds, shouting as loudly as he can, "What do you mean, ?500, you must be bl**dy joking"

future scenario.... http://www.blog.treutech.com/photos/crowd_of_people.jpg people enjoying the new wider pavement outside Somerfield (wow, I never knew it was such a popular shop... perhaps it's the closing down sale bargains that are attracting such a crowd...) edited because of horrendous typing and trying to do 12 things at once -

how wide does a pavement need to be to do its job(?)(?) don't remember seeing any human corpses or mangled buggies outside Somerfield seems kind of OK the width it is; room for double buggy, Big Issue guy, cash point folks and general ED flaneurs. Stroll on EDers:) what's happening? are we planning a big party outside Somerfield? NB End of year budget... Conways - the cousin of 'Southwark Big Daddy', and another big ol' expensive f**k up springs to mind
