    Prince

    Prince dies age 57
  2. We all love a bargain and I have had one or two from the large St Christophers shop. Spotted this lunchtime : a long long long Renato Nucci coat in pale camel feels like cashmere and silk ?10. !! (too long for me sadly) and in the bric a brac, a clean bon maman jam jar avec lid, ?1. crazy.
  3. DF your roof looks fine
  4. ???? which Greek place would you be referring to?
  5. I do not have property affected but nevertheless concerned that there is no nightime red warning light atop the crane on this Whateley Road site, either through a dark cloudy night or dismal misty morn, is this even legal? From my terrace I can see 6 crane lights in the distance but none of the crane before us. This morning especially, thick mist and cloud, helicopters take note.
  6. they will be fine ... however I don't think Jerry will want a long engagement.
  7. What we call the Med shop what KestonKid mentioned, sweet lemons and opens late and courteous staff and St Christophers for serendipitous forays and books of course a good atmosphere, AJ Farmer and Lloyds on NCR and card shop near Toast. You would think I would know the names of these shops by now. These are regular haunts and stand out shops for me which I/we would severely miss.
  8. Huntley and Palmers Breakfast Biscuits Terry's (of York) Casket Russet apples with rough skins Cox's orange pippins non shrink bacon 4 black jacks for a penny liquorice root bara brith murky oxtail soup in cafes it must be time to eat
  9. I was impressed by the forcefulness of moondancer post even though it reminded me of my old headmaster somewhat. We are not child friendly ourselves after 7/7.30 and want to be out in adult environments, the Cherry Tree is calm and friendly in the evening, Fair bit of mobbing on this thread, unkind.
  10. addendum: in 2 parts a) if I had my wits about me at the time and knew then what I know now etc I would never have agreed to a 'family' Christmas when my wife's parents would descend and reduce my wife to tears within the hour and b) watch grumpy old men/women at Christmason youtube to know you are not alone. stay strong y'all tis only once a year
  11. we are now free to travel. which broadens the mind. apparently. If you are our age (mid 60's) then you must realise, from henceforth, we are left behind. My missus complains that our daughters use the 'Muuuuuuum salutation as a means of describing idiocy. If they knew the half of what we,singly and together 'got up to' before they were born, they would have a hard job believing it. Lucky for them we will never ever tell them.
  12. sallyfran, although a freedom pass can be used anytime on a bus, it is not valid until 9.30 am on mainline trains
  13. This happened to us 6 weeks ago with a bed we manouvered ourselves into the hallway to accommodate a speedy pick up. No further contact, explanation or apology offered. It's not a respectful way to behave. And a crying shame as it was only months old. Of course the it was totally in the way and we were required to pay to have it removed. The wife was upset and cross that she had provided contact details, and address.
  14. EDOldie - I saw what you did there and smiled !
  15. hello JimH, do you mean the ATM at Lloyds?
  16. buggie - the Belvedere Splash Park has not been open this year and Bexley Council are closing it, moving the park opposite onto the SP site and have plans for the original park which include closure of the adjacent busy library. Reasons given are the Splash Park is too expensive to maintain as the filters are constantly blocked. A 50p entrance per adult seems to be beyond their whit. It was a wonderful facility, for even barely on their feet toddlers, and despite a petition and public meetings, I fear it is doomed. Good luck with this venture, summer - sunshine and water, wonderful
  17. or a tory government
  18. exactly Azira, as per my point that LIB was wearing a poacher's bag inside her coat, and yes she committed suicide by electrocution, proving that she shoplifted for kicks. Not because there was a tory covernment: however, why is it that from 5-6 pm peak time there are only 2 cashiers operating at the Coop
  19. Or Lady Isobel Barnett, years ago, tuna I think, with the aid of a poacher's bag. And she was a JP. Giving credence to the theory mooted here that if it's in you to steal you will - unlike most people who patiently queue in the Coop.

    So....

    Seabag - Dyslexics rule K.o.
  21. note taped to unidentifiable piece of furniture outside house near the G. E. - 'free to good home - or bad home, I don't judge!'
  22. you will all be pleased to know that I finally realised BB is a nuisance with nothing better to do than post idiotic nonsense and meaningless rhetoric. its tiresome?! no wonder normal residents refrain from posting if this is the standard, which needs raising, methinks. It isn't even funny.
  23. BB - truly a pointless post - I hate myself for reading this and being primed to make relevant observations. And feel duped. I don't actually care whether you have a fourth child or not. Are you related to the Kardashians?
  24. The Grove Tavern imho would be an ideal placement for a new improved Police Station. an unmissable presence in our midst.
