  1. I understand NR also waters some of the tracks just outside victoria to try to reduce screeching.
  2. Bil - isn't the parking by wavelengths now closed? There's another NCT the other side of A2 which always has spaces. cate - is driving that bad round there? Much better than around lordship lane ime.
  3. Huguenot, despite your "grammatical competence", your post doesn't really make sense. I haven't seen any evidence of GGT being "menacing" on this thread and I can't see how you are infering any threats of violence. The reason they post as a "team" is because the individual poster is representing the group, not in an attempt to intimidate (and I can't understand how you can be "intimidated" by posts on a internet forum).
  4. Oh, and this obviously: "Hello, good evening and welcome to nothing much A no holds barred half -nelson and the loving touch The comfort and the joy of feeling lost With the only living boy in New Cross"
  5. Haven't read all above, so apologies for repeats but: "It took me a dictionary, to find out the meaning of unrequited, Meanwhile, she gave it away for free, at parties to which I was never invited" And "Born down in a one horse town, first kick I took was when I hit the ground"
  6. Siduhe - why wouldn't he be allowed to drive over the pavement?
  7. Vasco and piero's, wonderful italian just round the corner. http://www.vascosfood.com/ Brilliant food.
  8. Other good thing about locale is you can eat outside - useful if little one is asleep in the pram. This was our plan for our first evening meal out when little one was 6 months-ish. In reality I walked around for an hour trying to get him to sleep and then went home. My wife and our friends had a lovely meal sat outside though.
  9. How about La Querce in Honor Oak Park? Food wonderful and last time I was there (for my birthday) there was a family with toddler and baby having dinner.
  10. Or you could just handcuff your child's hands together, so they can't slip out. There seems to be a lot of aggression on this thread - the Britax response highlighted why a chest strap would be illegal, and yet are still being attacked for not supplying one. And teaching your child to not climb out has to be the best solution. At some point they're going to be able to undo the buckle themselves - what are you going to do then? Add a padlock?
  11. *facecious suggestion* Send him to nursery? Our son refuses to eat veg at home (picks it out of omelettes etc) but eats everything they give him at nursery. We thought they were just making it up, but when it's sweetcorn he provides the evidence.... Otherwise pasta sauces seem to work (just whizz vegetables up with tomatoes). Think we've got a recipe for beetroot patties somewhere, which are remarkably nice, but he still didn't eat them...
  12. Did some googling a month ago. No legal minimum, just are they old/sensible enough that you trust them.
  13. Not a 20mo, but our 16mo boy has always had problems weeing through her nappy. We found the pampers/huggies weren't absorbent enough, but nature babycare ones better.
  14. Our son goes to Stepping Stones nursery, and loves it: http://www.steppingstones.webspace.virginmedia.com/ We also looked at Oak Hill and were impressed (but not quite as near as SS) http://oakhill.org.uk/index.asp You could try the telegraph hill forum if you want some more suggestions/recommendations: http://thehill.proboards.com/index.cgi
  15. It seems like a lot of effort to steal them and shit them halfway across the world. Are we sure there aren't just being sold on Market Road each sunday ? (is there still the big sale there?)
  16. Another vote for ikea. We originally got a nice wooden chair with cushion. Looked good but cleaning it a bit of a hassle to get into all the cracks. The antelop is much easier to just wipe down with a cloth, plus as fuschia says, you can easily take legs off and take away with you on holiday/to visit grandparents etc. And it costs ?11 in a choice of colours!
  17. Steve - what a wierd post. Did you see two men with covered up faces robbing women and you aren't sure which one was which?
  18. Karvol on a muslin (or old sock) tied to top of cot worked best for us. Also Not a "remedy" but you can try to suck the mucus out of her nose - I know a friend that does this err, directly, otherwise you can buy an odd lookign device to do it. Finally, have you put a few books under the head of her cot - this will help her nose drain.
  19. We went in at 12 o'clock Saturday, my wife gave birth to lovely boy early hours the next day, they hadn't got round to even applying the pessary yet...
  20. LegalEagle-ish - Haberdasher Askes also puts on buses for its pupils. So yes, some in London do.
  21. Oh dear, poor her and poor you. I've not taken our little one on my lap yet but almost has a similar accident the first time he went on the slide with proper shoes on. I put him on and run down to the bottom to catch him, he gets halfway down, his shoes touch the slide, stop, he basically stands up and then tips off the side. Luckily I was just close enough to catch him.
  22. As everyone says, 5 months is a great age to travel. They sleep on the flight and you can take them out for dinner in a pram and let them sleep. We went to seville via malaga with our boy at about 5 months. He was perfect and we had a great time. One question - why self-catering? Other than if you need to give him formula (and ended up taking loads of sma ready-mixed bottles, expensive but convenient).
  23. An alternative to a new buggy, have you thought about getting a bike lock - you can then take buggy out, leaving baby indoors, lock buggy up, then come back to fetch baby. A friend of mine does the same because she lives in a basement flat with steep stairs.
  24. Cate - Virginia is below the Mason-Dixie line, so part of the south. But similarly the UK was not used to the sort of snowfall we got. Also you mention the upper eastern seaboard getting heavy snow regularly - then why were they having transport problems in NY, NJ etc?
  25. You should speak to CAB or similar, see contact details below http://www.southwarkcabservice.org.uk/contact.html Your employer can refuse to let you take holiday at a certain date. And they can also not let you roll holiday over if you're on maternity leave over the holiday year end. BUT it's difficult to see how they can refuse to let you take holiday if you return on 16 March (ie the same date you were always expecting to come back) and it's also difficult for them to refuse to let you either carry it over or take it prior to year end. In any case, budget/cost cannot be a reason for refusing anything. Also, don't rely on it being a large public sector organisation or senior people meaning their position is correct. My wife works for a very large employer, in the head office HR team. Her maternity leave details were sorted out by the same people who set policies for the company that employs 1000s of people. Needless to say they got it wrong. I previously worked at an HR consultancy - they used to get things wrong on maternity leave for their staff.
