  1. OUr lovely boy had a temperature and a couple of bad nights after his recent MMR. Took about a week to kick in and then he was very upset, off food and not sleeping well for about 3 days. Not great, but a lot better than a real case of either of M, M or R.
  2. Are they refusing to give you the holiday you have accrued during ML at all? If so, that's illegal. They could try to make you come back to work and then take the holiday spread over the rest of the year, but I can't see how that's helpful to them.
  3. Hummus is a big favourite here. As is marmite (but sparingly given the salt). Ham is a bit salty so I've seen it recommended only from 12 months, but not sure what the magic is when they turn 1.... Cold roast chicken goes down well. Mini pizzas are good and easy - but some blinis from supermarket, add a bit of tomato paste and a little cheese and stick under the grill for a few minutes.
  4. Yes. Not much longer than going victoria and avoids having to get down the steps there. Another step (but not escalator) free route would be 37 to brixton, victoria line to oxford circus, cross over the bakerloo line on next platform, bakerloo line to paddington, then heathrow express.
  5. Keef, is that an opinion based on reading the books or reading rants about her? Because I certainly don't think "she cares not for the baby" or that she thinks they are "an annoyance that needs to be seen and not heard". But that is the impression you can get from reading other people's opinions of her.
  6. train to LB, lift to jubilee line platform, tube to westminster, lift to district line, district line to hammersmith or barons court, walk across platform to picadilly line, tube to heathrow. No steps. One person with buggy, one with suitcases - POP.
  7. From memory, Chameleon is slightly bigger, more carrying space underneath, has an extendable handle and possibly some other minor differences.
  8. Hmm, was in Drs yesterday for MMR. Nurse said they hadn't decided yet whether or not to immunise babies for SF.
  9. intexas..... parking by wavelengths has been closed. I think you now need to park just the other side of the road.
  10. Cycling is a quite route, but coming back could be hard work - you're going over hilly fields then round telegraph hill
  11. Definitely a jacket. And a hat.
  12. Monnie - I don't think it's a new thing in London, but the current perpetrators can hardly be expected to have been doing it 20 years ago....
  13. Antijen et al - immunisation should not be a personal choice. By not immunising your children, you put other children (even those who have been immunised) at risk. In fact you are more at risk being an immunised child in an area with insufficient rates of immunisation than an un-immunised child in an area with a high take-up. I don't mind if you are pro/anti-homeopathy but by anyone who takes the selfish decision to not immunise their children should understand the consquences.
  14. Hmm, no matter how slowly I drive past goose green I never get any women coming over to speak to me. Maybe Saturday morning with a baby in the back isn't the right modus operandi. Anyway, a quick check of punternet ought to sort out the ED v Tooting competition.
  15. Tsk, poor geography from the Sun. Clint is filming in Nunhead cemetry.
  16. Wot ojm said. It's a Thameslink line for the moment! Convenient for Paris. Careful, they stop early in evenings though (10:30 maybe).
  17. Our son started sing and sign at about 6 months. He loves the classes even if he has yet to start signing himself.
  18. Green and Blue? Or just order online at beermerchants.com Mmm belgian beers.
  19. Jeremy - sorry, yes Denmark Hill loses its LB trains, but ED, Peckham Rye and Queens Road will still get them (as will Brockley etc on the other ELL extension). It'll make getting to West End and Canary Wharf much easier, even going to London Bridge there is a payoff between the journey taking longer against being much more frequent.
  20. PGC - the stage 2 extension is due to be finished in time for the olympics in 2012. And unless I'm wrong, you will still be able to get a train to london bridge, it's just the victoria trains that will go.
  21. There's usually a short one by Brockley station, if you can travel over to the wild east.
  22. Re Ted Max's post, I didn't find this postespecially humorous - in fact, I never got the feeling that the author was attempting humour. However, inside the faux rage, there was more than a degree of truth and a truth that some on here seem to find a little uncomfortable. So, a successful post.

  24. Hmm, eater - how often do you actually use public transport? FYI this morning I did the Nunhead->Peckham Rye->LB->CW route. It cost me about 4 pounds (on a monthly travelcard), took my 40 minutes door to door and I had a seat for all 3 legs of the journey. Alas I'm going to have to rely on my job to turn my day into one of misery.
  25. Is the train from ED really that bad at rush hour? I used to get it at around 830/845 from QRP and always got a seat (in the back carriage). Door to door in about 45 minutes. Cycling, you can go via Greenwich foot tunnel.
