  1. Robin if you happen to speak to the tree officers there are a number of trees towards the top (Lordship Lane) end of Crystal Palace Road that could do with their basal shoots dealing with. There?s a stump that?s regrowing as a bush as well.
  2. Robin thanks for the information. Please let me know if you get an informal group started, I?d be happy to do some pruning on Adys and Nutbrook.
  3. rch - thanks for all of the information in this thread. One thing that Southwark don?t seem very hot on is dealing with water sprouts. With the stress all of the trees were under this summer it seems to be a real issue. They?re obviously unsightly but also because they?re bushy growth from the ground they block pavements much more quickly than a lack of pruning at branch level. Is it something you could ask the tree officers about?
  4. I think your best option would be either an au pair or a nanny share. We had a nanny, then had an au pair and are now switching to an after school nanny. Au pairs are around ?100 a week, nannies are generally around ?12 an hour once you?ve figured in tax etc.

I amend that to 10 seconds Sometimes I refuse parcels when I know I wont be in for my neighbours to collect them. It's frustrating when a neighbour (kindly) takes a parcel in and then isn't around for days on end, in those cases it would be better to refuse delivery and have the courier redeliver the next day.

Plus there are plenty of parking signs all over the carpark that say 2hrs on them. I really don't see what more Sainsbury's should be doing here, they seem far more transparent and reasonable than many other private car park operators.

Phase 1 is for just the congestion charge zone, but you're right it then will be the whole of East Dulwich..

Electric Zipcars? I thought they were all small engine diesel VW Golfs?
  9. It has been 2hrs for as long as I can remember. There was a discussion in April about this topic too. http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,1916712,1916712#msg-1916712
  10. Just a side note to say that if the visitor has a contactless credit/debit card then they will never pay more than a daily OR WEEKLY travelcard. I switched from Oyster to contactless because of this.
  11. Sing and Sign at the pottery cafe on East Dulwich Road (https://www.singandsign.co.uk/classes/classes-near-you/southwark).

  13. You can buy bank note tester pens for a couple of pounds on Amazon. If you have a central 'bank' then you can also use UV lights to check but they're probably too expensive for every stall holder.

  15. Just to clarify I'm not against old houses, I grew up in a Victorian house and live in a Victorian house now. Of course they can be improved and you can make them much more thermally efficient. What I was saying is that if you are building new buildings now, using "real brick" in place of more modern construction methods isn't sensible either from an environmental or cost point of view.
  16. Presuming they'll be rising 4 then you have a state preschool as part of Goose Green Primary which is well regarded (I think Bellenden Road Primary has one too, but I know nothing about it). All of the pre-preps have 3+ entries although waiting lists can be long, we had a good experience at Oakfield and friends of ours loved The Villa. There are regular threads about day nurseries but I don't know anything about them.
  17. I think most full-time working parents (including us) use a childminder, au pair or nanny to do pickups. Afterschool clubs tend to be restricted to reception and above, even then some discourage it for reception as they feel it makes the day too long for them. Similarly Holidays are a real pain as we never found holiday clubs that took under 4s and even now our son is in reception the choice is fairly limited compared to what's available for older kids. On the other hand, our son developed so much more in a part time nursery class in a school than he did in a full day commercial nursery so if you can make it work it's really worthwhile.
  18. Why would real bricks be better here? They'd be more expensive to repair and will be less thermally efficient than modern construction methods. My principal complaints about those flats are: 1. No effort to colour match the brick tiles to the attached station building 2. Building a balcony without accompanying protection on the pavement to stop trucks cutting the corner
  19. What is strange is that we (in Adys Rd) have always been covered by Highshore Rd and have never had the issues with theft. I can understand delayed mail due to the backlog moved from Silvester Rd only affecting the old Silvester Rd routes, but why does the theft all seems to be concentrated in those routes too?
  20. I'd also like to endorse Gary Vu, he came round when other electricians hadn't bothered to quote. He did a great job at a fair price. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him.

  22. I had an electrician waste his time and mine coming round and then never bothering to send a quote despite two polite reminder emails.
  23. The Belham Primary School's fair is this Saturday (1 December) 11.00 ? 2.00pm. It's the first fair in the new school building which is great.
  24. Melihoople Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Awful, might be an idea to post on Facebook too. > Previous incidents like this sound similar. The previous attacks reported here were by a white staffie.
  25. I use flipper which manages my switching whenever a better deal is identified. I know I can do it myself but I am not brilliant at getting round to these things and so I?m happy to pay for the automation.
