Don't think it matters who controls the council to be honest. The process, or rather lack of process is the same. We were promised free gym and swimming as an election promise for ALL southwark residents by the current labour council. But it was a lie. http://www.southwark.gov.uk/news/article/1890/the_scoop_on_southwark_s_free_swim_and_gym_pilot

So the council consulted with hardly anyone, ignored seven objections, to two for, including an objection by the Police! I never saw a more blatent example of a council cabinet committee pushing through personal agenda over consultation. Disgraceful.

But that's why bicycles have brakes Lee. I just don't think it's going to be the problem you think it is and that's my view. Cycles hitting pedestrians are rare and that is fact too. Here's a case in point. The path that runs accross the park in front of the cafe often has cyclists going along it and on the downhill section you can pick up quite a speed. But cycles DO slow down if they are approaching children, dogs, people. There's a lot of common sense out there and there's no reason to think the same common sense won't be used on the new path.

Mako does make an interesting point though. A road that previously had no accidents can't be improved by a reduced limit data wise. It could then also be argued that if an accident were to then happen that the road had been made less safe. The only part of data that is irrefutable is the damage and injury done at 30mpr cpmared to 20mpr. Everything else is based on data that doesn't apply to most stretches of road.

Impending staff cuts at Dulwich Picture Gallery

How much money would the restructuring save the gallery? The 2013 accounts filed at companies house show a loss of around ?3k following five years of no profit. Restructuring to turn loss into profit is one thing. Restructuring to maximise profit is another. I for one would be interested in the detail of this, as with most things the truth often lies in between. -
We only spend 10% of GDP on the NHS. Reasonable for something as important as healthcare wouldn't you say? Whereas the 10% GDP we spend on arms?

I've used that path for 23 years and have never come close to being run over or colliding with anything else. And it is my view that you and others are making a mountain out of a molehill - something that seems to have increasingly pervaded this area over the last 20 years (I suspect your issue is with cylists per se rather than that path). My view is as valid as yours but you are the only one making an issue about it, yet more outrage over nothing, by the outraged? If you really can't cope with opposing viewpoints, then a public forum isn't for you. I'll bet you a tenner though there won't be a single collision between cyclist and pedestrian on that pathway when it reopens!

'All I said was that Sublime didn't seem to have any recommendations on the forum. I clicked on the name, and couldn't find anything.' Really? Because I just typed in sublime in the search window and can see at least threee mentions of that company and Pawel on the first page alone! So your assertion that Sublime and Pawel have no recommendations is wrong.

Dogs also have a tendancy to do that too. Bells on the collars anyone? :D Then there's kids on scooters, or just running with a ball even. The path needed repairing. Good on the council for that. There is a pavement that runs all around the park so no real upheaval to moan about. Cyclists will be no more of a concern than some poeple find them on any path that runs through the park, and most cyclists likewise will do what they already do elsewhere, slow down if they see people up ahead. But no doubt this thread will run on and on, reporting every perceived near miss as though someone's lfe was at risk.

So pps is also Prestige Property Services? I think trading atandards would be interested in this one as it is a crime to falsely advertise. http://www.tradingstandards.gov.uk/cgi-bin/glos/bus1item.cgi?file=*BADV042-1011.txt If proven, William and his various aliases could face up to two years in prison.

So I'm woken at 3.40 am by a fight outside my home. Do I start a thread about it?

And to be fair the galleries accounts are posted at companies house and it can be seen from those that something has to change. It's also worth taking a look at the annual review as well for a more detailed breakedown of employment costs including pension schemes. -
Yeah it's flashing up for me again when I post something.
