  1. Interesting ????. I've learned something there.
  2. But unions do not have spending caps imposed under the law uncle - so completely irrelevant.
  3. I think it's Lane Ward Mariababe, so wouldn't be Renata's Patch. Don't see why the garden can't continue to be used during the day, even if only restricted to afternoons or lunchtime. Maybe the cafe can get it's neighbours on board to support them in that?
  4. I don't think the Libdems ever have the budget to overspend on anything though. And what has gotten the Tories into trouble is that items haven't been accounted for on either their local OR national accounts (namely the hotel spending). There's creative accounting and there's not even accounting for things at all. Overpending at national level is just a fine compared to overspending at local level being a criminal offence, which makes no sense at all either. Of course, whether prosecutions happen or not, the PR damage is done.
  5. This is why I asked my question. This sounds like advertising for the supermarket in question (for which the filmmakers are being paid). Clients pay on average ?60 for a couple of hours of peoples time to take part in research/ focus groups. They are never turned into short films - why would they be? If a business wants to understand its customer base better, it employs a research company. Is the end aim to make a series of adverts for the supermarket? And if so, participants should be paid just as they would be for any commercial. Would help if the OP returned to the thread to clarify.
  6. Why don't the supermarket just do market research like every other company? Why would they want short films made for that purpose? It doesn't make sense to me.
  7. You imagine wrong. Leaseholders are not charged for the entire cost of any works to their building.
  8. Vegetarian here. Would definitely be interested in buying your cheeses to try.
  9. Of course tenants pay nothing, because they are tenants. Leaseholders know that they will be charged for communal works and service charges. Whilst I understand being able to challenge the amounts involved, I can't understand why anyone doesn't understand that's what they sign up for.
  10. I think you handled it well heartblock. And had every table been taken, the impact of the child's behaviour would have been more.
  11. There's commerce and then there's exploitation - both can exist under a capitalist flag. On baking though, I am completely impressed by the skills of those on the show.
  12. Being repsonsible for window locks to another dwelling? That is just bonkers. Did you challenge that?
  13. But had that been my kids, I'd have told them to stop, because children need to learn what is appropriate behaviour and what isn't. I think most people wouldn't keep giving food to a child that is throwing it on the floor either.
  14. I'm not getting into this with you Uncle. RTB1 was introduced by a Thatcher government under THEIR terms. Nowhere did the Labour manifesto stop the councils being able to use the money from the sales to build or buy more housing. We are where we are now because of that Tory governments deliberate policy of selling off homes and blocking their replacement, end of. Just as the rules on RTB1 were set by that same government, end of.
  15. They look like common garden spiders to me and will do no harm whatsoever. I'd just let them live their normal cycle.
  16. Great work. Hope the falcon finds the right place for it.
  17. Labour have nothing to do with it uncle. The rules on leaseholding are set in law under RTB1 (brought in by the Tories if you had conveniently forgotten that). If you buy a council leasehold, you do so knowing you will be charged for communal works. And there are leaseholder organisations that do challenge the sums charged and hold them to account, so as usual you are talking out of your a@@.
  18. But how much would it cost the LA to hire that private venue? And of course the bar would have to be closed, so compensation for those losses too. then there are issues like security and insurance etc. There's a reason why polling stations are council owned buildings. Amd as someone said above, there are other occasions when children force a change in schedule. Both my wife and I have had to rearrange shifts when our kids have been ill. You just get on with it. It's part of being a parent.
  19. But I think anyone who comes from that kind of background and makes it to the higher tiers of government (in any form) HAS done well. Parliament after all, is not full of people like that is it.
  20. So the elderly and disabled don't matter then pork chop? There's a very good why polling stations are within easy reach of everyone in the ward. Polling stations are open early and close late and those who can't get to the polling station on the day can vote by post. A day off school to be made up elsewhere is NOT going to disrupt anyones education, really it isn't.
  21. The Labour mayoral candidate is chosen by the membership in a ballot. I think it's the same for the Tory party.
  22. Yep, Zac is a lesson on how to not lead a campaign. Looks like he's been beaten comprehensively.
  23. I half wonder if it's just what happens when you go from a two party state to one that has two other parties that have been really successful in splitting the electorate. On Scotland, I don't think Labour from Westminster can ever fix that. It will be down to Scottish Labour to figure a way back. But Labour have never won enough seats in England alone and in many ways they have to appeal to so many different (now polarised groups) that it's hard to see how that can be done under a left of centre leadership. Having said that, the Tories have exactly the same problem. It's hard to see them ever winning a decent majority as things stand either. They too have too narrow an appeal.
  24. I'm guessing she's a leaseholder? Is the electrical work interior or communal exterior? Leaseholders are liable for work done to the buildings. There are leaseholder organisations though so she should contact one of those for advice, or the CAB.
  25. I always thought vehicle speedos were deliberately 10% out. I'm guessing so that people who think they driving at the limit are actually just below.
