  1. that is a lovely idea!
  2. This morning, while my daughter was upstairs. The only thing missing was money. We have one damaged window. Does anyone have cctv in this area?
  3. I don't think if anyone is caught short that you can't find a loo. Who knows what was going on with this particular individual at this particular time. It's not a nice find and that fact that they left it for someone to clean up is really vile. I would have been fuming.
  4. The Oxfam I worked at would accept electricals (not health related) and they would all have to be tested first. I thought it was obvious that they would be. In terms of cost, we had a volunteer who was qualified to do the testing and things. It cost nothing, but this man's generosity.
  5. I'd agree - if it was a regular thing, then that's different. Personally, I would prefer our neighbours didn't do karaoke when they're drunk but they are definately having fun and I would much rather that than hearing people argue. Having said that, the most irritated I've been is when they played the recent royal wedding at 500 decibels so they could hear it in the garden. Completely spoiled my morning/ afternoon plans and I ended up going out, rather than having to put up with it. I hope you know who you are and don't do it again.
  6. how old would you say the boy is? I presume late teens? Have you met your neighbours before?
  7. I'm equally saddened by the damage. All the posts above saying it's minimal clearly don't use / love the park. Personally I don't really care if they think I'm boring for not wanting this to happen again - I'm all for festivals but prefer the ones in fields, where they're supposed to be.
  8. well, funnily Sue - I'm trying but it seems that some of the other owners don't understand what's going on (ie what building maintenance means) or they're a bit intimidated. I'm actually looking for recommendations for a tenacious lawyer who will actually sort it out (rather than a wishy-washy one).. It might mean the issue extends to the Directors as well (I'm a shareholder, being a FH owner of one flat)
  9. I need some advice... I have a property outside of London which I let out. We have a Property Management Company and I don't think they are maintaining the property as they should. I've told them about the roof leaking over a long period of time, but recently it actually collapsed into one of the rooms. After a significant amount of time, it was finally fixed but I now need to repair the room and furnishings which were damaged. They have said they have no liability as they fixed the roof but I want to claim damages. They said I wouldn't win and to be prepared to cover their legal fees. It's all in writing... Thanks Angelina
  10. funny how obesity is an issue now but not so much then.....
  11. Personally, if you think the social worker has made an error of judgement, put it in writing to their manager and the head of department. Social Workers can be very dangerous and need to be held to account. Ideally a third party who is not connected to the SW team, as in a safeguarding issue many professionals will need to be consulted. I would even talk to the police - they will have a community officer and they will give you good advice.
  12. is the overground running at all tomorrow I need to get to Canada Water

  20. My friend's got the same (two flats on same floor of big old house) but can't find any gaps - he says it's so bad it's making him unwell (he's not long been out of hospital with heart surgery). He went to see them and they denied even smoking, so he's off to the Environmental Health to make a complaint under the Environmental Health Act 1990. I don't know what will happen but he's been told by doctors to not go anywhere near cigarette smoke so it's really hard for him at the mo.
  21. As Bodsier said. If you don't like it, don't use it. Go elsewhere - there are plenty of alternatives.
  22. how about a new Primark or mini Ikea?
  23. yes but it's actually our money - and could be used on better things - or more efficiently
  24. Brexit or not, the change in tax for foreigners buying UK property and for BTL has changed the dynamics.
