  1. If you can get him, bring him in - and put him in another room. Probably locked out/ lost/ abandoned. He'll freeze outside
  2. Satire with a twist Wry Irony.. sounds like a cocktail, with gin
  3. I imagine they pulled the staff off due to bad weather. They were out on Tuesday were we are.
  4. I didn't read it like that at all
  5. It's good thing to make a concerted effort to be thankful frequently. It's a good post Sue. It makes you more aware of what you really have.
  6. Unfortunately, the ability to share information and join groups with strangers far away has brought these things into our homes more than before. I think when we were younger our influences were more localised and therefore not so far-wreaching in terms of variety/ intensity. All you have to do now is google any word and a whole world opens up - and when you're vulnerable that's not a good things. Although what IS strange is that people I know (from older women at work to young young people) is that they didn't even consciously think about it first so it's not that someone gave them the idea and they thought they'd give it a try.
  7. maybe Chick knew that
  8. the point is that information is readily available
  9. you may find this article interesting. I hope it enables you to have more empathy. http://theconversation.com/more-teenage-girls-are-self-harming-than-ever-before-heres-why-86010 I can only imagine the effect of the internet, media, future prospects, poverty etc have glided over you and you haven't noticed the stressful world our children live in.
  10. Self harming is a mental health issue, not a fashion. Are you on a different planet? FFS. Rarely do I feel riled by a post. OP - you must be trolling.
  11. or a visit. which would be the obvious thing to do
  12. Definately - if the dog has been locked in a garage for days now, that's a serious issue - is he being fed? Does he stay there overnight?
  13. It is reasonable to expect that certain roads are gritted - especially with the advance warning that we have had. Southern - for instance - have been running empty trains all night so the tracks are fine this morning. It's reasonable to expect the borough to get it's arse.in.gear, so to speak. DKH this morning was dangerous - and it not a surprise that it would be heavily used.
  14. 37 into Brixton this morning was fine - bit slow, but journey took no longer than usual. It seems that Southwark have money in specific pots - eg money for lampposts; no money for grit - and don't seem able to understand that one is actually important and wanted. Of course, there are so many other things......
  15. It's usual to have a list - which your husband would have signed if he had sponsored them. It does stink of a scam unfortunately. It is possible that someone sponsored her and she got muddled up between houses - but either way - shockingly poor organization skills and for that alone, I would keep away in future.
  16. I'd want to make sure it was hygienic - I have visions of people putting their hands in
  17. It must have come from the East as we're in Westminster and it's just passed - followed by dbboy's predicted blue/ cloudy sky
  18. We're looking at options for A-Level. I understand you can apply to local schools and move to them for A Levels rather than having to stay at current school. We're also applying to The Charter School and have been accepted at a college. Does anyone have any experience of A-levels and where is good? I'm told by my daughter that most of the children are leaving their school and moving somewhere else. The college invited us for an interview, but it was more just a declaration of acceptance. Some of the schools have interviews - does anyone have any experience? I think they're better staying somewhere they know and know what to expect, rather than moving to a different place just for the sake of change... I'd really love to have some first hand experience from families who have been through this decision.
  19. well, it couldn't look less like snowing if it tried.
  20. I would try the RSPCA and say you are not happy with response so far - they need to investigate and come out. It's not ok to leave a dog outside so technically the dog does have shelter but it doesn't sound good. Speaking to the owner is not a bad idea. find out what's going on. It could be nothing. Dogs bark when they're on their own. it could be something much more horrible. there are other animal rescue charities. I found the following Mayhew - Trenmar Gardens, Kensal Green, London, NW10 6BJ - Tel: 0208 962 8000 A bit far but they may have a suggestion Croydon Animal Samaritans 020 8681 0934 Or maybe the local vet would know.
  21. yes - thanks - makes sense. Intrigued but not my business.
  22. Thanks - that's completely fair enough.
  23. Poker Face - have you changed your user name ?
  24. I thought it might be a misprint. Easy to muddle up cm and inches.....!
  25. I often take the kids, my friends kids and their friends - and they're not particularly worried about the quality of the projection/ audio. I like it because we can pick up snacks in the pound shop - and the kids like it because I can afford to take them all, more often. The staff have always been fab too! If you're looking for something a bit more upmarket then you can always go to the west end and pay around three times as much. Anyway, we prefer Peckham. We usually buy our tickets earlier in the day so have them in hand. Quite easy really, once you know how it works.
