  1. plastic rice in China.....
  2. 'Don't care' is exactly right. It's the same reason we buy washing powder that has a clear large warning on the side saying 'dangerous to environment' yes - go look at your Persil Automatic (or what it is you use) - it's probably next to the warning that says 'Keep out of reach of children'
  3. It is very much a disposable society that we live in. And this is always driven by consumer choices. Admittedly, our suppliers make it look as if they are giving us a choice by offering A, B or C...... but we should remember we can also demand X, Y or Z Of course they'll make a kettle (or whatever it is) that needs replacing - it means they get more revenue. It's not rocket science. It's our choice as consumers to allow this to happen....supplier's do not have to be in control.
  4. Curry house. Costa coffee. Subway. Iceland. Waitrose. Not that I'm predicting anyone mention any of the above, but.....
  5. I am not demonising our children at all. Far from it. I think most children are not aware of the dangers or not actually aware of the value of life. Neither am I saying they are ignorant - just a different context to their lives, as they are so young. I think bringing the subject to the front of discussion is a good thing, which I don't think happens enough. There are a number of things communities suffer and don't talk about enough.
  6. No one is blaming schools at all. To be honest, the sheer denial of the problem shown above is actually shocking.
  7. The kids are mostly alright, but they're not REALLY 100% alright, are they? Not hen we're warning them about killing each other at school/ on their way to or from school. They need all the help they can get. Of course most kids are fine, but it's the ones that aren't that need guidance and support. It's exactly the kind of ignorance that is causing problems. Ask any parent whose child has died if "the kids are alright."
  8. try beating them at their own game and peeing on your garden. 1. Human scent marking This is by far the most widely suggested method and this is almost certainly because it is simple, effective, readily available and completely free. Foxes mark their territories by urinating around the perimeter and for all their bad press foxes do seem to at least respect the territories of neighbouring groups so it won?t take a great leap of imagination to understand why this works so well. There are two methods of human scent marking that are well used and both can be extremely effective. The first involves collecting human hair (male works best), either your own after a trim or by asking at your local barbers. Stuff some into a pair of old tights and hang them around the margins of your garden. The other involves directly mimicking a fox?s territorial behaviour by the application of male urine to your boundaries ? you can choose whether you apply directly or, more discreetly, fill a container for later use. If you don?t fancy peeing on the primroses then Scoot Fox Repellant work on a similar principle.
  9. Sports drinks are a good alternative to fizzy drinks. They replace minerals your body needs. Fizzy drinks actually change the structure of your cells and cause...among other things..premature ageing
  10. I only have fizzy drinks once in a blue moon and I feel like I'm getting something for free. but, seriously. It's a great idea. Fizzy drinks are bad for you.
  11. I disagree - I like bottomless drinks in Nandos as otherwise it's quite expensive
  12. If anyone asks, deny deny deny
  13. is fake news the same as alternative truth?
  14. You should look for a body piercing place where they will do this properly. They will have the correct equipment (needles rather than guns) and will be fully trained (unlike the staff at Claire's and high street shops. We went outside of London to get my daughter's done.
  15. Painful getting into town today - delays on Victoria train and then overcrowding on the underground. Possibly faster to get a bus :-(
  16. too cold this morning and Overground missing two trains, delays into Victoria - tracks too cold.....
  17. no, I don't think that came up....it's all about america.. It's also interesting that this is all focused on Trump and not the actual half of the American citizens who voted for him... I would think that promotion of education in the local communities is as important - if not MORE important than complaining about Donald.
  18. Not just London... some of the signs are shown on this link https://www.buzzfeed.com/juliareinstein/best-womens-march-signs?bffbmain&ref=bffbmain&utm_term=.bagjjnYpJa#.mf4VVmnb3v
  19. It's really important to remember that we are most vulnerable near home - particularly on our doorsteps - as we feel safe and drop our guard while fumbling for our keys etc.... Get your keys ready in advance, keep your eyes open, watch for people sitting in parked cars (obviously not an exhaustive list, but just some important things). I once saw a man hiding behind my neighbour's tree in their front garden so proceeded to pretend to talk loudly to my dad announcing my arrival at the front gate... he ran off...
  20. what are 'the obvious reasons' for not thanking the driver? We always say hello and thank you...they are people, after all.....
  21. I am so sorry to hear that this has happened to you. How disgusting. I hope you are ok. What a vile person to do this.
  22. More ice cream less gelato (more air technically)(and maybe the price will be more in line with ice cream prices!
  23. it's because motorikes are worth a lot of money - they get taken for parts and a very small % are recovered.
