A friend of mine gave a chap ?10 for a little green bag and didn't see him again. He did not see the irony when he told the policeman walking past what had happened and could they look for him....

Shopping robot spotted on Lordship Lane
Angelina replied to Carrie's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I don't know.... I'd probably trip over it. Don't often watch my feet when I'm out. I imagine it would be a bit like my cats at home - always under my feet and a general hazard. -

We have them around our offices. They'd last five minutes in Peckham out on their own. A good practical application of technology, but environment needs careful consideration. -
I do hear you, but there are a number of good suggestions on the forum - and it's quite clear that the idea of new lamp-posts is not thought to be the best. It is very much a case of not being interested in what the local community have to say. Perhaps because it's not the applause that was wanted. Investment in the vacant shops - maybe pop up shops at a reduced rent - would bring new life into the area. This was a fantastic success in Brixton.

Rats amid filth surrounding Sainsburys car park
Angelina replied to grancabrona's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
rats are common in a city. The issue is the rubbish. It's either Southwark's responsibility or Sainsbury's responsibility. If it's the latter, Southwark might be interested to know it's not happening. I would suggest call environmental services and make a complaint. -
The NHS is in such a mess and with multiple factors affecting it, that it is not possible to identify one, singly. I would love to review their budgets and what they spend money on. It would take a complete objective review - but unfortunately, it would seem too many beneficiaries to allow that to happen...

well, Brixton is an absolute nightmare. I used to like it but you can hardly move on the main road now. -
Bakerloo line extension - have your say for Peckham Rye

When the tube comes, more people will come. It will end up like Brixton. -
Dogs being nicked from outside Sainsbury East Dulwich
Angelina replied to PeckhamRose's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Dogs in food shops/ restaurants? No thank you. There's nothing wrong with leaving dogs outside, briefly. Although you would think people would realise the stress a busy street would cause a dog. It is shocking though that people will just untether your dog and walk off with it. Just as it is people grabbing your phone, robbing your houses, slashing your tyres.... There's a very serious pattern of bad behaviour in ED so it would just be wise to not provide an opportunity. It's very very stupid to do so, knowing the pattern of behaviour locally. -
yes - in order to be labeled 'free range' - chickens only have to be outside for a very short portion of their lives. It does not at all indicate that they are allowed outside - it just means they are not caged.

10%? so the pork in a bun is just adding it on even above that. supply and demand....... basic. they probably realised they were selling it regardless so just added more on top.

You do have to pay towards external works, unfortunately - it's the terms of the lease you signed when you bought the property. The major works schedule will have been circulated in advance and the cost should have been communicated. Was that not the case? If you are arguing that the work wasn't done to specification, then you should make that point to the council, as they are managing the contract for the work. If they are saying this work didn't happen because you didn't allow access, then - if they are now offering to get the work done - you need to arrange with them to do this. It's not going to happen that you don't have to pay. A last resort would be that they approach your mortgage company and ask for the sum to be added to the mortgage.

'Don't care' is exactly right. It's the same reason we buy washing powder that has a clear large warning on the side saying 'dangerous to environment' yes - go look at your Persil Automatic (or what it is you use) - it's probably next to the warning that says 'Keep out of reach of children'

It is very much a disposable society that we live in. And this is always driven by consumer choices. Admittedly, our suppliers make it look as if they are giving us a choice by offering A, B or C...... but we should remember we can also demand X, Y or Z Of course they'll make a kettle (or whatever it is) that needs replacing - it means they get more revenue. It's not rocket science. It's our choice as consumers to allow this to happen....supplier's do not have to be in control.

Large police and ambulance incident at the plough
Angelina replied to dimples's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I am not demonising our children at all. Far from it. I think most children are not aware of the dangers or not actually aware of the value of life. Neither am I saying they are ignorant - just a different context to their lives, as they are so young. I think bringing the subject to the front of discussion is a good thing, which I don't think happens enough. There are a number of things communities suffer and don't talk about enough. -

No one is blaming schools at all. To be honest, the sheer denial of the problem shown above is actually shocking. -

The kids are mostly alright, but they're not REALLY 100% alright, are they? Not hen we're warning them about killing each other at school/ on their way to or from school. They need all the help they can get. Of course most kids are fine, but it's the ones that aren't that need guidance and support. It's exactly the kind of ignorance that is causing problems. Ask any parent whose child has died if "the kids are alright." -

try beating them at their own game and peeing on your garden. 1. Human scent marking This is by far the most widely suggested method and this is almost certainly because it is simple, effective, readily available and completely free. Foxes mark their territories by urinating around the perimeter and for all their bad press foxes do seem to at least respect the territories of neighbouring groups so it won?t take a great leap of imagination to understand why this works so well. There are two methods of human scent marking that are well used and both can be extremely effective. The first involves collecting human hair (male works best), either your own after a trim or by asking at your local barbers. Stuff some into a pair of old tights and hang them around the margins of your garden. The other involves directly mimicking a fox?s territorial behaviour by the application of male urine to your boundaries ? you can choose whether you apply directly or, more discreetly, fill a container for later use. If you don?t fancy peeing on the primroses then Scoot Fox Repellant work on a similar principle.
