  1. Blah Blah - the unfortunate thing about cuts is that a business will have to prioritise the money they do have. It would appear in a time of such financial restriction, that choosing the premium devices is not the best use of funds. The second market brand would suffice and would leave money for something else. SO MANY THINGS. It demonstrates either a lack of ...well... giving a *hoot* really.
  2. was it an all-nighter? That's a bit cheeky. After a certain point, they should go to a club.
  3. that's more than likely the case RH - I would imagine that devices of one brand interface the same way. I'm not techy though but the money we spend (yep, also tax payers money) is also all on Apple.
  4. The technologies are compatible across devices and depending on how they are used they can be very effective. Context is required. Are the recipients customer facing? Do they each have more than one device? What changes in their working practices are they embracing? Are efficiencies being tracked in terms of reduced time required? Customer satisfaction? etc etc etc
  5. adding to this the on-going support required. In our company, this is ?20 per month, per device. This includes building the devices software (has to be compatible with work systems), security, support for all apps, insurance in case of loss/ damaage etc. Which works out - for the number of devices that the council have bought - around ?40,000 every month and ?500,000 every year.
  6. People 'want' what is put in front of them. Social conditioning and marketing also have a role. Makes me feel like ED is becoming brain-dead.
  7. Nandos. http://www.ethicalconsumer.org/scoredetails.aspx?ProductId=515298 If anyone is actually interested in their ccmmittment to be socially and environmentally responsbible. Lets not mention the fact that they use factory processed chickens.... "that do get natural sunlight, but we have to consider costs" Nice. It's becoming properly boring along there now.
  8. no idea whatsoever. There's probably a reason. Can't find a link to send. I spoke to one outside Victoria recently, but they are in Oxford Circus etc..
  9. if you're making recommendations to tourists, they would probably love all the places that residents don't bother with. M&M World being an example. It's incredibly popular. But pointless in any other respect than making money. And SO expensive. A good tip for any tourist are the Red Hats who work around the main central tubes. They are a wealth of information and it's their job to help anyone with anything. They wear black bowler hats and can give you ANY imfo!
  10. A work collegue ships art to USA. If you want, I can ask him.
  11. No reason Southwark would or should enter a privately owned building. Try calling their main switchboard.
  12. no agenda, other than highlighting that there are other fantastic businesses in our area and that they also deserve a mention. It's not a negative point. I didn't say I didn't like Postmark.
  13. I fully support Greetings. By far my favourite.
  14. that's lovely! they must like the bugs in your gardens
  15. A comfy chair. More important than anything else.

Unearned Inheritance profit - also Capital Gains. Should someone be penalised because their property value has increased? What about the taxes they have paid during their lifetime? Why should old people have to pay for care when other types of illnesses are funded? They already pay inheritance tax on their capital gains (well, technically the estate does)
  17. are squatters bad? some, maybe.

interesting to read some 'readers' letters' agreeing with the stealth tax if there is enough money in the estate and why people should expect to hand down their property to their children. Is this based on envy?

If my children behaved this badly, they'd go on the 'No Devices' punishment
  20. you get your mobile stolen walking along the road
  21. well it's not the oldies is it.
  22. Why don't you too hook up and maybe your two daughters would at least have someone they know on day 1
  23. Thanks for the recommendation I made an appointment with her and her GP for Friday. I made my concerns known. Also contacted school as she was sick this morning and he made her walk to school in pain. The doctor invited dad to the appointment -he's absolutely livid I've done such a thing. He's sending her step mum as he can't make it, which will be fun as they don't get along. Is she allowed in if she doesn't have parental responsibility. She needs to know what the doctor says, but I also want a private conversation to discuss other concerns.
  24. yes, thanks - but this is the problem - she cannot be supported in London unless she is registered in London. Hence my quandary - she is not accessing the support that there is, where she is, as her father is not supporting her and taking her to the appointments.
