  1. Lovely to feel your wrath. Was my reply not soothing enough, LL? TfL will follow up any reports of bus drivers driving unsafely and investigate. Bus drivers are not trained to be poilte - they are trained to drive buses. The original post should write to TfL and state facts, driver details. The fact there were inconsiderate youths is technically by the by (apart from adding insult to injury), and is irrelevant to the issue of the bus driver failing to stop at a stop. But, yes - horrible experience - unneccessarily stressful. Hoping you feel calmer and better, OP
  2. well done indeed. Will ask though - if you find it hard to stop for a month, does that not make you think there is something wrong somewhere? Foxy, you say you don't go out unless you go out for a drink, which is understandable - but the money you save - you could get up to all sorts! Spend half of it throughout the the year and one super holiday! Even if you go out less, there would be payoff.. www.meetup.com This is a really good site for finding likeminded groups to join - of course - you can just go along to try it out and it isn't a set group so don't worry about feeling an 'outsider'.
  3. http://www.brighton-accountants.com/blog/tax-self-employment-still-employed/ if it's under the Personal Allowance ?10k then, no - it would be classed / argued as casual income
  4. Bus drivers are responsible for the safety of their passengers. With consideration, there is a bit of common sense in moving around a bus that is still travelling. They are not the smoothest ride and brake suddenly. Next time, you might think about being the first down the stairs, so if little one does fall, he will just fall into you
  5. This is very very exciting and really positive news - thanks!
  6. thank you so much! I didn't know.
  7. well the future is clear - increased rents (happens on one site - starts a chain reaction of basic economics - a bit like the 'estate agents effect') will lead to the chains being the only ones that can afford the location - and all the little local places up-shop-and-leave. It happens everywhere, sadly. Morrisons, M&S (Oh we have that), Starbucks...... lovely.
  8. How easily the point can be missed.
  9. they've also left a letter of out the woord describe, so an accidental ommission could be likely, as opposed to intentional (and why go to the trouble if they were just intending to leave a wrong number?).
  10. I found this on wikipedia Looks like number start with 077 or 078 or 07x8 so if it's an 077 number you have your 11th digit. If it's an 078 or 07x8 number you have a fixed number of tries. You could also try calling one of the providers. They might help.... Mobile telephones 07xxx xxxxxx?mobile phones and WiFi numbers. Individual mobile phone companies are allocated different ranges within the 073xx, 074xx, 075xx, 07624, 077xx, 078xx and 079xx area codes. Changes to mobile phone numbers in the Big Number Change were mostly straight replacements, such as Vodafone customers on the 0378 block became 07778. 073xx xxxxxx Mobile phones (in use since November 2014) 074xx xxxxxx Mobile phones (in use since November 2009) 075xx xxxxxx Mobile phones (in use since May 2007) 07624 xxxxxx Mobile phones on the Isle of Man 077xx xxxxxx Mobile phones (former 03xx and 04xx?mostly Vodafone and O2 (formerly Cellnet)) 078xx xxxxxx Mobile phones (former 05xx, 06xx and 08xx?mostly Vodafone and O2 (formerly Cellnet)) 079xx xxxxxx Mobile phones (former 09xx?mostly Orange and T-Mobile (formerly one2one)) 07911 2xxxxx 07911 8xxxxx WiFi numbers (used by companies such as Tovo and Mobiboo)
  11. thanks! we'll try that out. not too worried about it being a festive place, just smooth ice!
  12. Indeed. Talk about the elephant in the room....or rather - all the ways we can avoid doing so....
  13. I'll call her too, if that's ok?
  14. WE went to Winterville in Victoria Park and the ice was full of ridges and it was hard to skate. Has anyone been anywhere that's good?
  15. This time of year, it's hard to say. It's becoming increasingly normal to wear silly jumpers.... So absolutely no idea what constitutes 'unusual'
  16. subjective - maybe tainted by our own values - probably racial / cultural differences? not a chance. This is UK law and values and child abuse is defined by emotional abuse, violence, witness to violence.... It's not acceptable - whether you think it's ok personally or not. Clearly a distraught child is something we should all care about. Not find reasons they might have deserved it - or mitigating circumstances (perpetraor was of any particular race/ culture).
  17. Southwark social services? but it would be quite hard without identifying them - although, it may be that someone else reported them? Your information would reinforce that and might just help.
  18. oh, that's naughty. Hasn't the delivery man got a moped? or did they outrun that?
  19. I'm sorry to hear your daughter's in hospital - I hope everything is /will be okay. As for information - the station staff may agree to putting up a notice in the station - they have notice boards.....
  20. I just looked on ebay and there's one I can order and get delivered from the United States! Which I find really amusing. The book looks beautiful and I'll be looking for it locally...
  21. I own property but also rent, which suits me fine - due to school location, work. Also hate being in one place.... Also, once you add on all the interest - it's shocking how much a property actually costs - and well worth checking out before you start - you may find the increased deposit has an impact... If you then pay extra onto your mortgage, you need to make sure it allows you to repay towards the actual loan, rather than just pay off the interest accumulated.
  22. completely agree, Penguin... but sometimes, it needs to be a delivery
