well, the underlying motivation is money. Development for the benefit of the community comes as part of the package to help seal the deal, that's all - and really is secondary. If it can be avoided it will be.

'Afforadable' is subjective and there are parts of England that are more affordable than London. The argument that London has to be 'affordable' is interesting. Why not move to somewhere affordable? I'd like to live in Monte Carlo - but I think that's not 'affordable' - perhaps I should insist they build houses I can afford, just so I can live there. And no - I would prefer not to have an M&S. Largely unhealthy boring food. I'd prefer not to have a Starbucks either. Much is to be said for small independent businesses (helping people achieve the affordable) rather than a corporation in our midst.

I think Brockwell Park /Lido upgrade was funded by Lottery fund. I don't know the details o fapplying for grants, but there are lots out there.

I'd have made a very big point of taking a photo (or probably just pretended to) as it is an offence...

Perhaps, OP, a little radical rethink on your part could save us all the aggro of guessing if you want to sit down/ will get offended if you're asked by actually saying "Excuse me, would you mind? I really could do with sitting down...." I can't imagine many Londoners would actually ignore you.

My flat has had internal reorganisation of rooms - approx 10 years ago and a new lease secured since then. The freeholder has recently said his intention of forcing the original layout to be applied (but funnily says he doesn't know what it was) Does anyone have any experience of this, please?

no, not really fabricated. I had a letter from the council with that direction. So had mine taken back. They were happy.

should not impede pedestrians walking along the pavement/ passing each other (causing one to walk in the road) and neither should it cause risk to small children, getting scratched
