  1. Jim, that's not a bad idea. Wonder what i could get in the way of compensation? :)
  2. I went to Grove Vale Primary (now called Goose Green) from Sept-77 to July-85. Had fond memories of the place except on one occasion when they taught us the 1982 Tottenham FA cup song in class and I refused to sing it being an Arsenal fan! Had to be done.
  3. Thanks Mark. Well done to both the winners.
  4. What was the answer to the competition? Just to see if i'd got it right!
  5. .....are afraid of the of 75%. Old Jokes Home!
  6. Indeed! So back to the topic. Best pub to Smoke outside at? The Bishop has a decent enough area out back. So too has Liquorish. Any other suggestions people?
  7. A bit off topic but... Re the portable ashtrays, Southwark Council are handing out Pouches for storing your butts in until you can dispose of them. Go to the Town Hall on Peckham Road and ask for one at reception. They are called "Stubbi's" i think!
  8. I'm on Orange. Never found them to be a problem in East Dulwich or the Village

  15. I couldn't have put it better myself tillie!
  16. Try the Gowlett Arms - It can easliy cater for 20 people either inside, the rear garden or out front on the benches. They do pizza and have good range of organic wines and real ales (CAMRA SE pub of the year 2005). Kids are more than welcome and there's a pool table for those of your group who like that sort of thing.:)

    a joke

An Irish woman "of a certain age", visited her physician to ask his help in reviving her husband's libido. "What about trying Viagra?" asks the doctor. "Not a chance," she said. "He won't even take an aspirin." "Not a problem," replied the doctor. "Drop it into his coffee. He won't even taste it. Give it a try and call me in a week to let me know how things went." It wasn't a week later that she called the doctor, who directly inquired as to progress. The poor dear exclaimed, "Oh, faith, bejaysus and begorrah! `Twas horrid. Just terrible, doctor." "Really? What happened?" asked the doctor. "Well, I did as you advised and slipped it in his coffee, didn't I? The effect was almost immediate. He jumped hisself straight up, with a twinkle in his eye, and with his pants a-bulging fiercely! With one swoop of his arm, he sent the cups and tablecloth flying, ripped me clothes to tatters and took me then and there, making wild, mad, passionate love to me on the tabletop! It was a nightmare, I tell you, an absolute nightmare!" "Why so terrible?", asked the doctor. "Do you mean the sex your husband provided was not good?" "No, no, no, doctor. The sex was fine. Indeed, 'twas the best sex I've had in 25 years. But, sure as I'm sittin' here, I'll never be able to show me face in Starbucks again!"
  18. I miss Harry's sweet shop, next to John Alan flowers. I had my first job there as a paperboy.
  19. East Dulwich born and bred, both parents from Jamaica.
  20. I also went to the opening party last night and i must admit it is a fab place. So well done and the open plan kitchen really adds to the place. I can see the Prince Regent quaking in their boots already! All in all well done guys! One suggestion Scott (if you havent thought of it already) how about laying grass in the area which was the car park?
  21. It's not strictly East Dulwich but The Gowlett has a nice area out back.
  22. Heard about this a while ago. I think it is good news. Will give the locals more choice after the Commercial (opposite the train staion) and the Prince Regent (directly opposite the Lido) The formula he has created in his other pubs, The Bishop & The Cock & Hen, works very well.
  23. I had a few friends who lived there between 94-98. The parties were legendary! >:D
