  1. I saw Robert Glenister, who plays Ash in "Hustle", walking along LL (just by Somerfield)this very morning. citizen
  2. fair play to you Jo. you state your case concisely. I am sure there are many others who feel the same and were not prepared to say so - a private matter for them. Hopefully you will have got the ball rolling on the seemingly secular Forum. just to let it be known, we welcomed our little boy to the world with a humanist naming ceremony attended by atheists, agnostics, Christians, others and no doubt a few Don't Knows. The event was highly touching and enjoyed by all. Would have felt highly hypocritical to have him christened but wanted to mark his entry into the world with some sort of celebration
  3. Not nice - what part of ED are you in Mumra? citizen
  4. *flops onto lounger - takes sip of one of Keef's 'special' cocktails* *eye starts twitching* *gets out sketchpad; gets out pencils* *takes stock.....then starts scribbling*

  7. they even sell Art journals, only place round here that I know of - it's a fantastic establishment. pop over to Petitou for coffee after when you are down that way. citizen

  10. Perhaps your fair lady gossips with Nisha about you, Sean? citizen
  11. I'll join in for Pram-Raiding. (some on this Forum definitly needs their heels bumping into for tetchy comments re baby buggies!)Have to say that McLarens rock - good choice, Asset. just has to be one of the best ?150 I've ever spent. Easy to fold/get on bus, lightweight, robust, brilliant manouvrability - (great for clipping the heels of grumpy people) and handy for carrying shopping! On the coffee shop front - is someone out there going to open up a nice coffee shop up at the Dulwich Library end of LL. You lot have got it so rich down there whilst us poor souls at this end on the Lane are gagging for a decent latte. citizen
  12. *enters on all fours - in expectation that it's how i will exit* *joins in Big Hug with chums* *rrrrruummble - whoops - haven't eaten since, whenever* *notices some skittle sours on floor* *gets back on hands and knees*
  13. *or you could borrow my project manager zapper*
  14. *enters Quiet Room sheepishly* *raises eyebrow to BarryRoad - admiring Coffee and Matchstick cocktail* *sidles over to bar* *looks in mirror* *places head in hands...*
  15. But that is exactly the point. Religion is a question of emotion/psychology - not philosophy. Bob's point about shooting down believers is spot on. Its all too easy. The real question is not whether the arguments of religion hold tight, as literally they do not, but whether the magical/mythical stories exert power for the good. The issue is whether religion has had, on balance, a positive influence on the world. On the one hand there is all the sectarian violence, the wars fought in the name of religion and the child-abusing priests etc but on the other you have all the religious charities and the personal salvation offered to many by religion. citizen
  16. loved the programme and the houses. Does anyone know if Bill has sold the second house yet - and for how much? citizen (did anyone else notice the the retro New Romantic fringe sported by one of the architects)
  17. *verbalises to self: name is ED, citizen ED in Connerian accent. Doesn't quite have the right ring to it* *starts on fourth Martini, chases down with Moet. TFI Friday* *hold on a minute - is it really only WEDS!*
  18. This is a great idea - I will bring something i've recently read. So that will be "Spot's Day Out", "The Gruffolo" or "We are Going on a Bear Hunt". On second thoughts I'll bring something I read in a previous life. citizen
  19. thousands of Liverpool fans prepared to take time off work, spend thousands of pounds on travel and ticket (and for some of them the plane gets cancelled and they can't get there anyhow) and even then the game might be like that dross on Saturday. That is complete faith, completely illogical and cannot be figured by people who don't get football. Not unlike religion. Religion is psychological, not philosophical. citizen
  20. *nods to Mockney - shake one for me too* *scans lounge for Pussy Galore*
  21. Perhaps Annasfield should change name to Anfield. Good luck to Liverpool citizen
  22. *straightens tux* *affixes cigarette into silver plated holder. drags luxuriantly* *notes seemy behaviour of folks on the water* *tuts diapprovingly*
  23. I am sad. So will be my lil' boy. That slide was the best one - he'd just mastered getting up that huge step up to the slide bit. I was looking forward to him mastering the rigging bit. If these low-lifes have sawn it in half, is it in a dangerous state or have the council made it safe? citizen
  24. *humming Witchita Lineman - senses spooky synchronicity in here today*
  25. *wakes up with a eloquent yawn - why are fish so difficult to draw?* *note to self - aim lower*
