  1. I saw that too Ratty. Such an awful event. Rest in Peace, Daniel.
  2. We could encourage the menfolk to let the women do the parking. Women are better at parking than men.
  3. Just for starters: 1. Assign more Car Club spaces in those streets. The council could entice residents to join Car Club by subsidizing fees. (No, I do not work for Car Club) 2. Set up Boris Bike ED 3. Subsidized rents for tenants who sign no-car agreements. 4. Promotion of Oyster Cards in those streets. 5. Council should speak to British Rail (sic) about improving services from ED station. 6. Council could promote the use of on-line grocery shopping. Oh, and Estate Agents should have to tell prospective property buyers that "..of course, it's bloody impossible to park round here..."
  4. I thought the decision was down to Cllr Barrie Hargrove.
  5. You have to see Catfish. Just seen in on More4. Wow.
  6. Sillywoman - I like your idea of reducing class sizes to 20 - 25 but agree that with the current administration this is unlikely. Did you read that Michael Gove has been urged to allow class sizes to rise to 32? Article here.
  7. Managed to sneak a trip to the brilliant Clapham Picturehouse last week and caught the thought provoking documentary by Carol Morley called "Dreams of a Life" about Joyce Vincent, a woman who was found in her Wood Green flat three years after she died. A remarkable piece of work. "Dreams of a Life"
  8. If United lose against City that'll be three defeats on the bounce - when was the last time that happened?
  9. Lots of great suggestions - so now doubt the thing to do is experiment with them all. But remember that the key ingredient in all of them is ice.
  10. My answers, 1. East Dulwich is Home. 2. Grey skies - (I see a lot of sky from my place, but then I love grey) 3. House facades 4. Tree Shape 5. The guy from Greetings card shop 6. 10.45am on a Saturday Morning _ I am walking down Friern Road on the way to Peckham Rye Park. 7. The Plough 8. Coffee and Almond Croissant 9. Bright Autumnal Day
  11. That is really sad news. Glad that the Forum provided him with an obviously much appreciated link to the East Dulwich Community. Sorry to hear of your loss. citizenEd
  12. Happy Boxing day! Greetings of the season to all Family Roomers. CitEd

    Ham. Help.

I won a tin of Spam at the school Christmas Fair last week. You are welcome to it for a fiver.
  14. "We are seriously concerned about the only street in east dulwich to have no houses..." This might come as a shock to the people who live at no 1, 3, 5 and 7.
  15. That first picture, Senor Chevalier, is something special - thanks.
  16. Caught this Australian adaptation of a novel on Catch-up. It's just shy of an hour long. Makes interesting viewing. The Slap
  17. Flour! As a thickener; arrowroot, surely.
  18. England defended really well - Lescott was very solid. Capello got the system right. Really enjoyed the match.
  19. "......CPZs are created in areas immediately adjacent to accessible and effective public transport or central London commercial areas - exactly the areas that attract residents who cannot afford or do not need or want a private car." And to this end I would suggest that instead of imposing a CPZ near the station, the council marks out 50% of the on-street parking in said CPZ area to Car Club spaces and puts in place a rule that states anyone buying or renting a house or flat in that area have to sign a no-car agreement.
  20. Fine assessment I'd say, apart, of course, if the babysitter fails to show in which case surely it's fine to take the sprogs out with you when you amble out for a few cheeky snifters.
  21. What's the considered opinion on this - is it worthwhile buying cheaper refilled ink cartridges or do they bugger your printer.
  22. Could I ask whether any of the people who are pro-CPZ ever park outside another person's home?
  23. Thanks to everyone for advising - hoping to get something early next week.
