  1. Naturally, like virtually all subjects getting the telly-treatment it is not an accurate review of the situation. But fair play, we get a baby called Coco and a dweeb dad called Humphrey. Breastfeeding for the Hello generation.
  2. Have to concur with the previous posts. I also have one Year 1 - and another in the nursery. We are very happy with the school. There are 120 kids in Year 1 because that was the year Goodrich took a "bulge" class" and yet the school still seems to have a very happy, community feel. Each drop off or pick up if a happy and friendly event. Been to my son's Year 1 parent's consultaion this evening and he is progressing well. His class group are genuinely a lovely bunch of kids.
  3. I really hope that new mother is so in name only...
  4. Wow, big-ups for the Family Room's combined knowledge of local playgrounds - that'll keep you busy until September Snowboarder. We recently popped over to Telegraph Hill park - loved it.
  5. I have to admit that I don't like threads starting like this. If you have a bad experience at a local business, why not just come on here and ask other people's opinion of the business. That would be a much better way of working out whether the business is as bad as you think, or whether you were just unlucky on your visit. As it stands we have a thread title that accuses this business of being poor then we have various responses, mainly positive until the proprieter came back with his extensive response. On balance it looks like the pub is far from being "one to avoid".
  6. Zoe; made me snigger. You come from the same school of thought as I.
  7. 4-3 Barca. It could be interesting if van Persie was still on.
  8. Yeah, I thought it a very lazy, cheap trick type programme with all the cliches. I didn't watch it with full attention - I had it on the iplayer whilst I happily carried on with my kitchen chores. Shame because this whole area of bringing up children is so rich and multi-faceted with such a depth of research and inciteful opinion, but all the BBC could find was the extreme cases, the typical journalistic deception.
  9. I'm planning a weekend trip to London by the Sea. want some solid recommendations of the best places to go from trusty Forumites
  10. Anyone see this: Parents Under Pressure. Loved the working parents of those twins. Sheesh.
  11. Polly Toynbee, Suzanne Moore. Succinct commentary
  12. After Arsenal dropping two points yesterday it looked like being a disappointing weekend and then England pipped SA in THAT amazing match and I've just returned home to see the Liverpool result which means that ours was more like a point gained.
  13. Err..correction Mr Narnia - The Bs have it. Wow! Seat of pants Sunday!
  14. Lots of events outlined here; international women's day
  15. Good to see that, according to the BBC website, Rooney decided to administer his own punsishment for that latest act of thuggery; "Last month Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney went unpunished by referee Mark Clattenburg after appearing to elbow Wayne Rooney for elbowing Wigan's James McCarthy."
  16. My ssympathy to anyone who has been a victim of crime in this, and other, areas, and whether or not reported on the Forum. Crimes should be reported to the police. If you are the victim of a crime and want to tell your friends, ring them up and get some sympathy from them. More crimes in general in ED or just more reported on here? We can't know and as a result I also wonder what benefit it is to post them on here.
  17. Thanks Renata for the explanation of how the system works. Wow. Confusing or what. The idea that you have choice in all of this is a misnomer. You can state a preference - but this is not the same thing at all.
  18. We've had a fox nestling down in a quiet corner of our garden. I moved large green bag full of fallen leaves and behind it was revealed a cosy bed. Felt close to feral nature.
  19. but his real crime is making "Two and a Half Men."
  20. I like the current ones for the Co-op. The one with the woman talking about what she'd do if she didn't have to do the weekly shop on Saturday Morning. It's a bit sentimental, a little schmaltzy, but I'm a sucker for that kind of thing. Also liking that great add with the shots of the city, a great soundtrack and the lyrics from Madness's "Our House". Annoyingly it advertises Virgin Media. At that point I feel soiled.
  21. ...wake up at the slightest squeak of a floorboard.
  22. Q: Brush own teeth (with help) A: when they are bribed... Q: When can children make you breakfast in bed? A: ???(please please say it's before they are 6)
  23. *Stirs and opens one eye. licks finger and dabs at the crumbs of danish. hmmm...I'm sure I didn't eat all of it the other night. smells coffee. lumbers over to the machine and tops up. Eyes the bottle of JD on the counter. It's gonna be a long night.* *what's that fluttering sound?"
  24. *vanilla triple shot latte with sprinkles atop* *hmmmmmm...* *danish swirl - yummy* nods to MP - too early for a Lucky Strike?
